Shannon: Great American Bash Predictions!
Our resident philosopher, Jay Shannon, breaks out his trusty crystal ball to try and figure out the next Pay-per-view from the WWE
It’s time for the monthly Pay-per-view from the WWE. This time, it’s The Great American Bash. Looking at the run-down of matches, I might call this the So-So American Bash. This is another situation like No Way Out. Summerslam, one of the Big Four of WWE PPVs, is next month. The creative team isn’t about to do anything to cause a major injury to any of it’s key players going into one of the big PPVs. There will be a couple of decent matches, don’t get me wrong. My thoughts are that this is like watching a minor league baseball game. You know that there might be some highlights, but the big matches are still a month away.
Michelle McCool vs. Natalya
Divas Championship Match
This match is either going to be fantastic or a flop. Natalya is a decent wrestler who has a lineage, second to none. She is on par with Mickie James and Beth Phoenix as being the top woman in WWE. Michelle McCool, on the other hand, is slightly above window dressing. She has a handful of moves but nothing even close to Natalya’s move set.
This match will actually be fun to watch. The Crimson Dynamo (Natalya) should take McCool to school (pun fully intended) in this one. I can’t imagine the creative team giving the title to McCool. She might win it, later on, but the first-time champion needs to be someone that can go down in the history books. Natalya should and will be the one documented as the first Divas champion.
Predicted Winner: Natalya
Predicted Grade: A-
John Cena vs. JBL
NYC Parking Lot Brawl
This very match was done between Beer Money and LAX as an opening bout on Impact. This match may thrill a few people, but I think it’s going to be just plain boring. I could care less about two guys bashing each other outside in a parking lot. It’s been done before and done so much better than these two will perform.
Who will win this turkey? My first reaction was a simple Who Cares?. Since the main part of this column is to predict the winners, I’ll go forward and pick one. No matter which superstar takes the World (Raw) title, later in the night, that person will need someone to face at Summerslam. Cena is in the middle of a major push, right now. It would make sense that Cena would get the winner of the Batista v Punk match. The battle between JBL and Cena might get a little nasty, but it will be the Bathroom Break Match of the night.
Predicted Winner: John Cena
Predicted Grade: C
Shawn Michaels v Chris Jericho
This feud should be amazing but it just isn’t. The whole premise of the feud was weak. Jericho was ticked off that Shawn Michaels feigned a knee injury to trick Batista. Now what connection does Jericho have to Batista? He doesn’t have one. So why did Jericho run Shawn’s face into the JerichoTron and shatter the plastic into Shawn’s eyes? Well, he needed a storyline to keep him from going on the Back Burner. There was the minimal twist that Shawn cost Jericho the I-C title, but that is such a minor part of the whole story. Their nowhere feud started well before the title switch.
If Jericho still had the I-C title, this match would be outstanding. The action is still going to be great, but the match isn’t really going to mean anything. I can only hope that Jericho can win back the I-C title before Summerslam, so he and Shawn can battle in a meaningful match. In regards to who will win this match, I’d give it to Jericho. With Shawn’s eye being injured, Jericho should be able to use the vision impairment to his advantage and take the win.
Predicted Winner: Chris Jericho
Predicted Grade: B
The Miz & John Morrison v Festus & Jesse v The Edgeheads (Ryder & Hawkins) v (Dave) Finlay & Hornswoggle
WWE Tag Team Championship Fatal Four Way
It’s time for Miz and Morrison to drop the belts. I like them as a team, but they need to drop the belts before they get stale. The question is which team to lose the belts to?
I really dislike the Finlay/Hornswoggle team. I’ve been a huge fan of Finlay, for many years. I just can’t stand his Son. The Midget comedy routine was stale five minutes after it began. Hornswoggle was cute and adorable as the little gnome that lived under the ring. Hornswoggle, the wrestler, is an irritant.
Jesse & Festus are a fun team. I’m a monster fan of Jesse, as I was a fan of his father, Terry Gordy. These two deserve a run with the belts, but I think WWE is more intersted in using them as a novelty act, right now. I think Jesse would do better if he struck out on his own and went after the US title.
The Edgeheads have been part of La Familia for quite awhile now. They haven’t even had a shot at the tag belts since joining Edge’s squadron of flunkies. These two kids deserve a serious break. I think it’s time for them to win tag gold. I also think it will become part of a bigger plan where all of La Familia will capture gold, with the possible exception of Bam Neely. I think the Edgeheads will upset the other teams and bring home the gold. I originally thought it would be a wedding present for Edge and Vickie, but the events on Friday changed that, as well as my thoughts on the Edge v Triple H match. I’ll get to them in a moment
Predicted Winners: The Edgeheads (Ryder & Hawkins)
Predicted Grade: B+
ECW Champion Mark Henry vs. Tommy Dreamer
In a way, I hate this match. I like both Mark Henry and Tommy Dreamer. My heart tells me to go with the Hardcore Legend and Heart and Soul of ECW, Tommy Dreamer. My head tells me that there is no way that Tommy will beat Mark. Mark Henry is in the middle of the biggest push of his career. In addition, he has Tony Atlas in his corner. Atlas off-sets Colin Delaney, a dozen times over.
Dreamer will give it his best. He will push Mark Henry to a new level. In the end, I think Atlas will get involved and cost Tommy the match. Both men deserve a clean match but it just is not going to happen. That simply cheapens things for all parties involved. Mark will probably hit The World’s Strongest Slam to take the win.
Predicted Winner: Mark Henry
Predicted Grade: D (Sorry, Tommy)
CM Punk v Batista
World Heavyweight Championship Match
Punk finally won the World Title. It would make no sense, whatsoever, to have him drop the strap, so quickly. Punk deserves the chance to get some serious battles under his belt. Losing the belt to Batista would dramatically short-circuit Punk’s career. Punk is seriously marketable, right now. Batista is a proven commodity that doesn’t need the win over Punk to elevate his career. If Batista loses, most fans will see it as Batista came close but Punk’s on a roll. If Batista wins, Punk’s win will look like a fluke. That would kill any momentum that Punk has going for him.
Batista will dominate Punk for a lot of the match. Punk will use all of his kick-boxing and karate moves to stun The Animal. Punk might have a hard time getting Batista up for the G-T-S, so I would imagine that the fans might see the return of the Anaconda Vise. The other option is a run-in by Kane, in another of his bizarre behaviors. I would hate that ending, but it could lead to a good Batista v Kane match for Summerslam. It would also leave Punk free to defend against John Cena.
Predicted Winner: C. M. Punk
Predicted Grade: A-
Triple H v Edge
WWE Champion
After Triple H pulled his Maury Moment witht he hidden camera on Smackdown, my thoughts on this match changed. Edge’s little affair will cause things to go two different ways. Edge’s affair with the wedding planer could cause Vickie to want to destroy her fiancee. She could end up costing him the match as revenge.
On the other hand, Edge might be ready to rip Triple H apart for messing up his happy day (and his chance for power). Edge is going to want to embarrass Triple H. That may actually provide his downfall. Edge is going to be so focused on hurting Triple H that he will get sloppy in the ring. Triple H will catch Edge off-guard and nail the Pedigree to keep his title.
Predicted Winner: Triple H
Predicted Grade: B-
In Conclusion:
The Great American Bash will not go down in history as an excellent Pay-per-views. The tag titles might switch hands, but I doubt that any of the others will. This is basically a lead-in to Summerslam. Why would the WWE sell the good stuff on a minor PPV, when a monster money-maker is only a few weeks away. Reviews of this PPV will likely have fans grumbling about nothing changing. I already expect it, so I think I’ll pass on this one.

WWE Announces Shocking Release!
WWE makes a surprising announcement about one of its highly prized young talents.
WWE has released Trevor Murdoch. The official WWE site has removed Trevor’s photo and bio from the Smackdown roster. This was a surprising move, sinceTrevor was one of those drafted to Smackdown. The question posed by many is simple: If they were looking to part ways, why would Trevor have been drafted off Raw?
The official WWE web site posted the following:
World Wrestling Entertainment has come to terms on the release of Trevor Murdoch as of July 03, 2008. WWE wishes Trevor the best in all future endeavors.
We will bring you more information as it becomes available.

Shannon: What Should Deuce Do Now?
Our resident philosopher, Jay Shannon, evaluates the options open for Deuce, aka Jimmy Snuka, Jr., now that his partnership with Domino seems to be over.
Jimmy Snuka, Jr. has gone by the name Deuce for quite some time. He has been the partner to Domino in a successful tandem, once known as The Throwbacks. He was also romantically linked (storywise) to Domino’s sister, Cherry. Over the past few months, Cherry was booted from the group in favor of Maryse and Deuce and Domino have ended up at each other’s throats. In this edition of HeadLocker, I want to suggest a few options that the second generation star might consider.
Going Solo
Deuce’s father is a WWE Hall of Famer. Unlike Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes, Deuce has turned away from his famous surname. Deuce was known as Jimmy Snuka, Jr and Solo Snuka in the indies before heading to OVW/WWE. It is time for Deuce to toss aside his Greaser character and embrace his Islander heritage.
Wash the Brylcream out of your hair, Deuce, and ditch the leather jacket. That would be the advice that I’d pass along to Deuce. Deuce should get himself a pair of tiger-print pants (or at least some black ones with tiger-stripes down the legs). I would also suggest he get rid of the white t-shirt. Deuce is pretty ripped and the female fans would probably love him to show a bit more skin. The new look could expand Deuce’s options. The new look should also come with a new name. Since he may well be a solo act now, it’s time to bring back Solo Snuka.
The New Islanders
If Snuka doesn’t want to fly solo, I do have an alternate suggestion for him. With the Draft looming, it would be a great time to pair up Deuce/Snuka with his cousin, Umaga. Both are related to each other (by way of the family ties between the Anoi’a and Snuka families). Snuka could provide the speed and aerial moves, while Umaga could bring the brute force. This union could simply destroy the Smackdown/ECW tag champs (be that Miz/Morrison or the Finlays). Snuka could be the mouthpiece for the team, obviously. The New Islanders could also battle the Raw tag champs (almost certainly Ted DiBiase (Jr.) and D.H. Smith). It would be a great Next-Gen battle for supremacy. Both men (Snuka and Umaga) could benefit from a fresh career path.
The next Shawn Michaels?
There have been several stars who started their WWE careers in tag teams, only to move forward to singles super-stardom. Shawn Michaels (The Rockers), Bret Hart (The Hart Foundation), and Davey Boy Smith (The British Bulldogs) all left their partners to forge ahead to individual glory. Domino will likely join Marty Jannetty, Jim Neidhart and The Dynamite Kid in the shadows of their famous former partners.
Deuce/Snuka needs to focus on a minor title, right away. The US or I-C titles would be the obvious choices, depending on where Deuce ends up after the Draft. My favorite scenario would actually place Deuce/Snuka on ECW. Deuce’s father was a cornerstone of the original ECW. It would be great for Deuce to continue the family legacy by going for the ECW strap. The fans might really embrace the idea of another Snuka wearing ECW gold.
Mend the Fences
My least favorite option for Deuce would be to smooth out things with his former partner, Domino. Deuce’s career has really stalled with Domino. Re-teaming with Domino would send his career crashing backwards, so to speak. Even if the united duo could take the ECW/Smackdown tag straps, Deuce would still be far behind where he should be. Deuce should be joining Randy Orton as a top star. As it is, he’s fallen below even Carlito (which is saying a lot).
Getting back with Domino would be like Linus hanging onto his blue blankie. It’s comfortable. For someone to become a true super-star (in or out of wrestling), they have to step outside their comfort zone. Deuce may not have a great deal of say as to where his career goes. Creative does hold all the cards, including the Deuce. Deuce should really object if a reunion angle is suggested (to whatever level he can without cutting his own throat). If he is forced back into a team with Domino, Deuce should start to really push his character to get as much airtime as possible.
In Conclusion:
The old saying goes: When one door closes, another one opens. For Deuce, there are numerous open doors in front of him. Depending on which door he chooses to stroll through, Deuce could make or break his career. Some Next-Geners have out-shone their famous families. Others have failed miserably as the next representative of the family pride and honor. Deuce stands at a crossroads. I hope he chooses the right path.

Shannon: Night of Champions Predictions!
Our resident philosopher, Jay Shannon, makes his predictions for the chaotic Post-Draft Pay-per-view..
Last week, this pay-per-view would have been simple to pin down. Everything seemed straight-forward and above-board. The 2008 Draft threw a Godzilla-sized monkey wrench into the middle of everything. I’m going to try my best to sort this mess out and see if I can figure out where titles are going to end up and answer a few questions along the way.
Mark Henry v Kane v The Big Show
ECW Triple-Threat Title Match
Ok, let’s figure this confusing situation out. Kane, the ECW Champion, is on Raw (along with the ECW title). The Big Show, who has shown up on all three brands, is technically a Smackdown guy. Mark Henry, who hasn’t held a title since the European title was handed to him, is one of the newest members of the ECW roster. Mark Henry did beat Kane on the last episode of ECW. He was added to the mix at the last minute. Are you confused yet? I thought so.
Mark Henry has been a dedicated jobber that has come up on the losing end of just about every major feud that he’s been in. He is getting near the end of his 10-year contract. Henry seriously deserves a reward for never getting in trouble with the Wellness Program, staying pretty much injury-free and working the jobber role for so very long. I honestly think that Creative is going to finally give Mark Henry a chance to run with a mid-level title (sorry, but the ECW title is more on par with the I-C and US titles, than the WWE or World straps). This match will be slow and plodding but I think that Mark Henry will catch Kane with the World’s Strongest Slam to bring the ECW strap back to Tuesdays.
Predicted Winner: Mark Henry
Predicted Grade: B-
Mickie James v Katie Lea Burchill
WWE Women’s Title
This match was one of the easier matches for me to predict. Katie Lea has been really pushed to become the first Brit to hold the Women’s title. Katie Lea has been running rough-shod over everyone placed in front of her. For that reason, she’s going to lose. That may not make sense but it fits with the way WWE has been booking in recent months. John Cena won the Royal Rumble, for example. The winner of the Royal Rumble has, so the past several years, won the title of their choice at Wrestlemania. This year’s big card rolls around and John comes up short.
Katie Lea is no Beth Phoenix. She is quite talented, but she’s not quite ready to hold the top women’s title. I expect Paul Burchill to try and attack Mickie, after the match. This will bring John Cena on the run. Cena’s attack on Burchill will come back to haunt him, later in the night.
Predicted Winner: Mickie James
Predicted Grade: B+
Matt Hardy v Chavo Guerrero
US Championship Match
My good friend, Joe, and I have talked specifically about this match. Prior to the Supplemental Draft, we both agreed that the WWE might turn the US title into a Cruiserweight/X-Division-type title on ECW. That would have required moving most of the Cruiserweights to the ECW brand. Well, that just didn’t happen. If anything, ECW lost many more Cruiserweights than it gained.
Chavo has been trying to regain some respect after the embarrassing loss of the ECW strap to Kane. This match could give Chavo back the respect that he’s lost. The match will likely be marred by La Familia’s interference. I could see the outside chance that Jeff Hardy would help cost his brother the title. The two men did go at each other pretty hard during the Battle Royal on Raw. The US title is coming home to Fridays, I’m almost certain of it.
Predicted Winner: Chavo Guerrero
Predicted Grade: A-
The Miz & John Morrison v Finlay & Hornswoggle
WWE Tag Team Championship Match
I’ll be absolutely honest, I just don’t like Hornswoggle. He should never have worn (and retired) the Cruiserweight title. He darn sure doesn’t deserve to turn the WWE Tag titles into another launching pad for an extended comedy skit.
I don’t want to see the dwarf/midget (I can never remember the politically correct term) get hurt, but I can’t stomach the concept of him wearing the gold. I do respect and admire Finlay. I hope to see him wear the ECW strap in the near future. Hornswoggle will likely see very little (no pun intended) action in the match. Finlay will be forced into, basically, a Handicap Match for the titles. Miz and Morrison are just too talented for Finlay to over-come, by himself. The end will come at the hands of Morrison and his Moonlight Drive.
Predicted Winners: Miz and Morrison
Predicted Grade: C-
Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes v Ted DiBiase (Jr.) & ???
The Draft really messed with this match. Just about every website about wrestling predicted that D.H. Smith would be Ted’s partner. At one time, clicking on Ted’s promo would send the viewer to D.H.’s bio. That was only a red herring, or so it seems. D.H. was sent off Raw in the supplemental Draft. It wouldn’t make much sense to have a tag team divided between two brands. So, who will Ted pick as his partner?
I thought of a few names that could join DiBiase. Lance Cade was the first name that sprang to mind, but he’s now wrapped up in the whole Chris Jericho/Shawn Michaels storyline. Santino was another thought, but he’s not going to be in the same class as DiBiase. I ever considered a couple of power guys (Deuce or Chuck Palumbo) but that seemed just too obvious. My pick will surprise most people…Paul London. London is a fantastic star that has had great experience in the tag team world. Night of Champions needs one good serious shocker moment and that might be it.
Regardless who DiBiase choose, he’s going to bring home tag team gold. I’d bet the farm, the truck and the family cat that DiBiase and his partner will take the gold. Ted is going to be the best third generationer since The Rock. He deserves to kick off his career with a gold strike.
Predicted Winner: Team DiBiase
Predicted Grade: A
Edge v Batista
World Championship Match
With Batista being drafted to Raw, many people are thinking that the World and WWE titles will switch brands. That would mean that Batista would beat Edge and take the title to Mondays. That’s another situation of being way too obvious to happen. I expect both of the top titles to stay on the Blue Brand until the Edge/Vickie wedding. I expect C.M. Punk to cash in his Money-in-the-Bank briefcase and bring the World title home to Raw, then. I expect La Familia to cost Batista his chance at glory. There will be numerous close calls, but Batista will head to Raw without a strap.
Predicted Winner: Edge
Predicted Grade: A-
Triple H v John Cena
WWE Championship Match
As I mentioned above, Paul Burchill will cost Cena the title. I expect an attack which will leave Cena on the outside to fall victim to a count-out loss. This will kick-start a huge feud between Cena/Mickie and the Burchills. Cena would come out looking strong, but Triple H would keep the title.
After C.M. Punk takes the World title from Edge, Triple H would start humiliating Edge for Letting his guard down. This would ignite one Hell of a feud between Edge and Triple H. These two haven’t really had an extended program with each other, to the best of my knowledge (other than Rated R-K-O v D-X). Edge v Triple H for the WWE title could headline Summerslam. Edge just can’t lose the title on Sunday and neither can Triple H.
Predicted Winner: Triple H
Predicted Grade: A-
Possible Last Minute Match Additions
Natalya v Maria
Diva Championship Match
Natalya is set to battle someone for the newly-created Diva championship. The initial championship match has not been announced for the PPV, but what better place to debut a title than at Night of Champions? The only question is who should Natalya face? Having her battle her BFF (Best Friend Forever), Victoria, makes no sense. Michelle would put up a good fight, but there’s nothing new with that match. Maria was sent to Smackdown for a reason. The WWE can claim that the draft was random, but there just isn’t anything random in wrestling.
Maria is getting much better in the ring. She has moved beyond eye-candy to being a decent worker. She would give Natalya a decent match, but the Sharpshooter would send Maria to the showers with the losing end of the paycheck.
Predicted Winner (if it happens): Natalya
Predicted Grade: B+
Chris Jericho v ???
Inter-continental Title Match
Jericho v Shawn Michaels would be the dream match for the I-C title. Shawn’s head strike on the announce desk on Monday would seem to take him out of the running. Of course, Shawn has been known to fake an injury to throw his opponent off his game. I see two possible options for the match. The first would be for Shawn to come out and demand the match, against doctor’s orders. Jericho would totally destroy Shawn, which would bring Ric Flair to the ring. Jericho would attack Flair, which would bring Batista at a full run. A Batista/Jericho feud would be exciting. This would give Shawn time to finish healing. Batista could then face off against Shawn at Summerslam (with the managerial services of Ric Flair or the I-C title on the line. Batista could take the I-C strap from Jericho at Great American Bash).
The other option would be for Jericho to throw out an open challenge. This would give Rey Mysterio a vehicle to return to the ring. Rey would confuse Jericho at every turn and end up taking the I-C strap. Shawn might even play a part in costing Jericho the match. Either scenario would work for me.
Predicted Winner (Scenario I): Chris Jericho
Predicted Winner (Scenario II): Rey Mysterio
Predicted Grades: A (for both)
Final Grade: A-
Final Thoughts: Sunday’s PPV is going to be either excellent or lame. There is no room for mediocre in this one. The Draft, if used correctly, could take Night of Champions to the next level. If Batista or Cena were to win, then things would return to status quo. That would be quite boring. Raw needs a major title back, but there should be a small lag time before Raw gets one of the two major straps. I’m still fond of my thoughts of Punk crashing the wedding.
There is going to be a few title changes, of course. It would make no sense to have every single title on the line and have none of them change hands. There will be some count-outs and DQs, but a few of the strap will have to switch hands. ECW needs their title and Mark Henry deserves a title for his dedication to the company. DiBiase need the position of walking in and taking gold on his first WWE televised match. This Pay-Per-View is just a finishing touch for the 2008 Draft. This PPV will set the stage for the whole summer. To paraphrase one of my favorite movies, Three O’Clock High, “WWE, Don’t (Mess) this one up”.

The World’s Greatest NWA (6/23) Round-Up
Our busy wrestling executive brings home all the news, results, recaps, previews and inside stories from the far-flung NWA promotional network.
6/21 NWA Anarchy Report by Larry Goodman
——————————————————————————–
NWA Anarchy returned to the NWA Arena in Cornelia, Georgia for another successful television taping.
It was a long, hot night, but a good one, as they taped three hours of television instead of the usual two. The crowd of 200 had necessary staying power to hang for the full three hours. There have certainly been shows where they were hotter during the body of the matches, but the decibel level spiked at all the key moments.
It was a night for building feuds, and doing so with a relatively minimal level of physical altercations between the feudees. Blood feuds – the kind where men hate each other, and the reasons for that hate are made clear and compelling. It ain’t the The Church of Southern Wrestling for nothing.
NWA Anarchy Owner Jerry Palmer opened the show, ax handle in hand. He was mad to the nth degree with Seth Delay and Chad Parham. (Delay used brass knucks on him and the two biggest thingyheads in Anarchy proceeded to cut his hair at the last taping). Before delving into his personal issues, Palmer said Slim J was bouncing back but did not have a medical release yet. Out came Shadow Jackson. The building exploded, just like it always does. Jackson wanted Chad Parham in the worstest way. “They got to get,” Jackson said. Palmer promised Jackson that Parham’s schedule would open right up to him.
(1) T.K. Cross beat Jay Clinton in a short match. Cross got a big pop from the kids and teenage girls. Clinton’s outfit was indescribably interesting. Neither one of these guys is in what you would call tip top cosmetic shape. Cross got the pin with an elevated full nelson drop.
Iceberg entered with the Reverend. The Rev said Iceberg proved he was the best big man in the business at Philips Arena by once again defeating Shatter. Rev said the Rejects weren’t intimidated by Jeff G. Bailey’s slant-eyed mystery man from the Orient or the Universal Soldier. He pointed out that Bailey only had two guys, while there were three Rejects, and no two men could take them. It was time to “bring forth the sacrifice.”
(2) Iceberg (with the Reverend) destroyed Malachi in 4:43. Malachi managed to dropkick Iceberg through the ropes. Iceberg made him pay for his insolence. Iceberg dismantled Malachi with power moves, while making no serious attempt to pin him. Malachi was done after a freight train corner splash, but he was in for more suffering. Iceberg hit a classic gordbuster, then the rolling cannonball into the corner - the No Pain Train’s answer to Umaga’s Somoan Wrecking Ball. Iceberg finished Malachi with the Ground Zero splash.
On the WrestleVision, Greg Hunter, Anarchy’s ring announcer/play-by-play announcer par excellence, was with the NWA Anarchy Television Champion, Truitt Fields, Hunter said the question of the number one contender kept coming back to Jeff Lewis and Hayden Young. He said Fields’ next defense would be against a former TV champion. Lewis interrupted. They were singing his music, as he was the only two time former TV champion. Young stuck his two cents in and said he was also a former champion. Fields’ opponent was revealed as the returning Brandon Phoenix. Fields told Lewis and Young to solve the contendership dilemma amongst themselves.
(3) Brodie Chase (with Melissa Coates) beat Bo Newsome in 3:32. Coates has gone all out with the naughty dominatrix gimmick complete with the riding crop. A mom in the first row was shielding her son’s eyes. Chase hit a pumphandle suplex and toyed with the teenage rookie. Fans started a “We want Don” chant. When Newsome made his comeback, Coates distracted with the riding crop and Chase got the pin with a spiral powerbomb.
Postmatch, Coates slapped Newsome across the face. She licked the riding crop in anticipation of a whipping. Before it could get even kinkier, Matthews chased Chase and Coates to the back. Adrian Hawkins entered the ring and promptly laid Newsome out with a DDT.
(4) Jay Fury (with Nemesis) beat Chip Day in 2:56. Concrete Gorillas got a security escort to the ring. Nemesis kept his hood on. Fresh off positive reviews for his performance at CHIKARA’s Young Lions Cup, Day got off to a hot start. Fury quickly snuffed out the rally. He dumped Day out to Nemesis, who administered a vertical suplex on the hardwood floor. Back inside, Fury hit a german suplex right into a dragon suplex for a near fall. Finish featured an awesome adjustment by Fury. Fury dodged Day’s tornado kick and went for his Enzifury, but the ring positioning was off, so he had to do a double spin and hit the move right on the money.
Nemesis cut a promo on Jackson and got the “Nemesissy” chant in return. Nemesis said this was no time to play games. “I can have you, Shadow, any time, dog.”
(5) Ace Rockwell & Wild Bunch (Billy Buck & Chris King) beat Todd Sexton & The Technicians (Bob E & Tyler Smith) in 9:42 when Buck pinned Smith. Huge pop and chant for Ace as the babyface trio rushed the ring. The highlight of the shine was a Rockwell clothesline over the top on Smith. Sexton wanted no part of it until the Technicians took control of Buck. Rockwell made the tag. Sexton ran away. As Rockwell confronted Smith, Sexton blindsided Rockwell with a chop block. Todd and the Technicians did a number on Rockwell’s knee. Rockwell’s selling was killer. Sexton used a spinning toe hold into a figure four. King splashed Sexton to break the hold. Off the hot tag, Buck hit a Samoan drop on Smith but E was there to break up the pin. Buck went for a sunset flip on Smith, but E hooked Smith’s arms to block it. King dropkicked E, and Smith went down for the three count. The first competitive match of the night. Good heat. Nice finish.
Sexton put Rockwell back in the figure four. Meanwhile, Technicians gave King a Hart Attack on the floor. Sexton said he wanted to hear Rockwell squeal like his brother. Rockwell refused to give up. Buck hit the ring with a chair to drive Sexton and his minions away. Rockwell needed help. At no time did he put any weight on the injured knee.
(6) Mikal Judas beat Mr. Adonis (with Jeremy Vain) in 11:23. Judas’ pursuit of Vain had turned to be a great story. Vain had a look of extreme concern as the crowd roared for Judas’ entrance. Judas looked jacked. He controlled Adonis with a crushing side headlock in the early going, while continually glaring at Vain. Adonis finally hit a back suplex, but Judas was up first and immediately gave Adonis a chokeslam. Judas pointed at Vain before making the cover. Vain put Adonis’ foot over the bottom rope. Judas brought Vain in the hardway for a major pop. Vain escaped through the ropes just in the knick of time. The ref crew ordered Vain to the back. Adonis capitalized on the commotion with a rabbit lariat that sent Judas to the floor. Vain left with a big smile on his face. Adonis softened Judas up on the outside. Then, he went to power moves on the inside. At one point, Judas goozled Adonis, but was too weakened to follow through. Judas hit a middle rope lariat to spark his comeback. Adonis blocked El Crucifijo. Adonis hooked the ropes to block a chokeslam. Judas blocked Adonis’ finishing move and busted out a Chokebreaker for the pin. Vain was too chickennuts to get in the ring, so Judas rolled Adonis out before exiting through the front door.
The first half will be edited into two television episodes with the Iceberg vs. Shatter vs. Judas match from Phillips Arena airing on one of those shows.
(7) Sex, Talent & Money (J. T. Talent & Andrew Pendleton III with Caleb Konley) beat Hollywood Brunettes (Andrew Alexander & Kyle Matthews in 6:11 when Pendleton pinned Alexander. Matthews had his ribs taped. Brunettes hit a double slingshot suplex on Pendleton early on. But when Matthews went for his signature corner dropkick, Konley pulled Pendleton out of harms way. T & M worked over Matthews bad ribs. He hot-tagged Alexander, who hit a Russian legsweep on Pendleton. Talent was there for the save. Brunettes had Pendleton set up for the Sheeney Curse, when Konley dumped Matthews off the top rope. Pendleton pinned Alexander with his feet all over the ropes.
T & M’s victory celebration was cut short, as Jeff G. Bailey came out with Shatter and Kimo, Anarchy’s two most impressive physical specimens Bailey said there were three of them, which reminded him of the Rejects. Like it or not, Bailey said they were doing a match against Shatter and Kimo. Bailey told Dan to pay close attention to what his two could do to the Rev’s three.
(8) Shatter & Kimo (with Jeff G. Bailey) beat Talent & Pendleton & Konley in 4:40 when Kimo submitted Konley. Konley stripped to his undie style trunks. The teenage girls behind me were drooling over Konley. STM nominated Talent to start. The Elite destroyed him. Kimo’s karate attack is throwback to the 70s. Nobody in today’s wrestling uses this style of offense. He put Talent down with a jumping karate blow to the base of the neck that was instant paralysis. Kimo withstood a double flatliner attempt with a show of strength and reversed it into a double STO. Kimo had Konley up for a press slam that Pendleton broke up with a kick to the gut. It broke down to 3 against 2. Shatter spinebustered the hell out of Talent. Kimo nailed Konley with a spinning karate blow and locked in the Information Extractor. Shatter gave Pendleton a PTSD for good measure. A devastating display by the Elite.
Via the Wrestlevision, we saw Hunter backstage with New Wave. Hunter said Rejects saved their titles the last time with a belt shot. Steven Walters said New Wave was going to win again, and this time it would be no fluke. Driver agreed. This was weak. Neither of these guys are what you would call extroverts, but you’ve got start somewhere.
(9) Truitt Fields beat Brandon Phoenix to retain the NWA Anarchy Television Title in 11:13 Phoenix held the TV title in 2006 and had been absent from Anarchy since the end of 2007. He moved about the same, but this was heaviest I can recall seeing him. Fields can’t get any leaner. Fields used a Finlay Roll during the opening minutes. Once Fields had assumed control of the match, Lewis came to ringside. The distraction allowed Phoenix to club Fields from behind. Lewis appeared to have evil intentions in mind, but Young came out to second Fields. Phoenix unleashed his suplex attack. Collision of clotheslines and both men down. Phoenix blocked Truitt’s first attempt at the Killing Fields and hit his atomic facebuster. Sorta. Fields kicked out and won it with the Killing Fields. Not particularly good or particularly heated. I doubt this will air in its entirety.
Afterwards, Lewis used a belt shot on Fields. Young clocked Lewis and got the belt. When the cobwebs cleared, Fields saw Young holding the belt and assumed he had done the deed. Lewis was standing on the ramp, basking in the dissension.
(10) Devil’s Rejects (Shaun Tempers & Azrael with the Reverend) beat New Wave (Derrick Driver & Steven Walters) to retain the NWA Anarchy Tag Team Titles via DQ in 8:40. New Wave are getting a push, just as Wild Bunch did before them. It’s worked well to elevate both teams without shoving them down the fans’ throats. New Wave came out flying and had the crowd behind them. Tempers derailed Driver’s springboard move, such that Azrael caught him with a dropkick to take over. Rejects used a sweet double team that was like an inverted Natural Disaster. The Rev smacked Driver a good one. The heat picked up as Driver brought Azrael off the top with a huracanrana. Hot tag. Walters hit a sunset flip out off the ropes for a very close near fall on Tempers- and suddenly you believed New Wave just might pull it off. New Wave hit the Unskinny Bop moonsault. 1..2..The Rev pulled ref Harold James out and punched him. But Brent Wiley slid into the ring to make the three count. Jubilation. New champions. Not. Hunter announced that James had DQed Rejects because of the Reverend’s actions. I can’t remember the last time the Dusty finish was used in Cornelia. It worked flawlessly.
(11) Shadow Jackson beat Chad Parham in 5:10. The crowd went nuts again for Jackson. Parham took a lariat over the top with a big bump into the rail and stalled. Turned out he was playing possum. He tried to bust up Jackson’s eye. Good stuff. But Jackson moved and a charging Parham crotched himself on the middle rope. Comeback time. Delay tried to interfere and took a press slam off the top for his troubles. Palmer chased Delay out of the building with his ax handle. Jackson started no selling Parham’s shots. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Parham went to bash Jackson with his framed Certificate of Awesomeness. Salvatore Rinauro showed up to foil that plan, and Jackson pinned Parham with the 1031.
Concrete Gorillas hit the ring and hung Jackson over the tope rope. Molten heat. Fields and Rinauro made the save. Palmer joined them in the ring, and the babyface foursome had a heated exchange with with the Gorillas, as they were escorted from the building. The show closed with the crowd going bananas for Jackson again.
NOTES: Palmer announced there would be no show on July 5. The next television taping will be on July 12 with Shatter vs Azrael, Rinauro vs. Delay and Lewis & ? vs. Young & Fields…Hostile Environment ’08 is set for July 19…Melissa Coates is booked for the Women’s Extreme Wrestling PPV taping on June 27 in Philadelphia. She’s going to be unveiling a new stewardess gimmick…Rockwell, Rinauro, Fields and Young are scheduled to appear for the June 28 Prime Time Pro Wrestling show in Manchester, Ga…Konley has moved back to Georgia and plans to be back as a regular…Don Matthews and Bo Newsome hosted the Top Rope Kids Club.

NWA Anarchy TV Report by Ca$hFlowX
Episode 122
June 16, 2008
I’m still recovering from attending Chikara’s Young Lions Cup VI, Night 2 in Hellertown, PA. Commentary regarding Kyle Matthews and Chip Day is in a separate post on the NWA Anarchy messageboard.
WRESTLING: (n.) \’res-ling\ A sport of contest in which two individuals face off in unarmed combat.
ANARCHY: (n.) \an-ar-key\ (1) A state of lawlessness due to absence of authority. (2) A complete lack of order.
What happens when you mix the two together? NWA-Anarchy!
- Welcome to NWA Anarchy Wrestling, this is PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING~! Last week on NWA Anarchy TV, the Wild Bunch gained another cheap victory over the NWA Anarchy Tag Team Champions the Devil’s Rejects (Shaun Tempers & Azreal). First, the Wild Bunch win by countout and then by disqualification. John Johnson believes they are prolonging the inevitable: losing to the almighty Staff of Righteousness. Speaking of tag teams, Seth Delay decked Sal Rinauro with a pair of brass knuckles and provided a free haircut. Also, Nemesis trashing of Shadow Jackson distracted Slim J long enough provided Jay Fury with a pinfall victory. This week, Mikal Judas gets his hands on Mr. Rob Adonis, and Jeff Lewis and Hayden Young and Consequences Creed battle for to face-off with NWA Anarchy TV Champion Truitt Fields. In this week’s featured contest, Phil Shatter cashes in his rematch clause from Hardcore Hell to face NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Champion Iceberg.
1. Hollywood Brunettes (“the Wizard of Aaaaaaaahs” Andrew Alexander & “2 Hot 4 TV” Kyle Matthews) defeated Chip Day & Adrian Hawkins via pinfall.
Chip had a good showing at Chikara’s Young Lions Cup VI and Matthews didn’t do so bad himself considering he was in the opening bout. Day dominates by outquicking Andrews at every twist and turn. After commercial, Alexander applies the dreaded Indian death lock to Day! Day fights out, but Alexander is able to make the tag to Matthews. The Brunettes smartly work over Day’s knee to eliminate his high flying offense. Day buys himself time with a head scissors takedown and struggles to his corner for the hot tag. Hawkins cleans house. Hawkins tries to award Alexander with a free Extreme Makeover, but Matthews rams him into Day. Alexander rolls up Hawkins for the victory.
COMMENTS: The Brunettes earned a well-deserved victory. The crowd was disinterested in Day’s high flying offense (as was when Wes Grissom wrestled Todd Sexton several weeks ago).
- Greg Hunter is backstage with “the 7 Figured Deal” Ace Rockwell. Last summer, Rockwell claimed the greatest prize on a one-armed bandit when it popped up 7-7-7 by unseating then champion Chad Parham. (Of course, slot machines have evolved nicely over the past 10 years.) Afterwards, he suffered a major injury and lost the NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Title to Phil Shatter. Since then, Rockwell has made occasional appearances, but hasn’t spoken. Rockwell tells Hunter that he fulfilled his dreams in 2007. Unfortunately, a heinous attack launched by the Rejects left Rockwell with a torn meniscus. But in true babyface fashion, he has no excuses for losing. Despite Rockwell’s personal life being in shambles, he came back. He felt like has was 100% in his rematch with Shatter, but the much larger adversary was the better man. Recently, Ace called Adrian Hawkins and found out he was to face Todd Sexton. Rockwell admits he let down many a soul by jobbing to Sexton. Of course, the question inquiring fans want to know is, will Rockwell back for good? Yes. And he plans to recapture the heavyweight title.
- Back to the NWA Arena, Todd Sexton challenges Ace Rockwell to a singles match.
2. The New Jerk Order (Todd Sexton & Bobby Hill & Tyler Smith) defeated Jay Clinton & Jonathan Davis & Yoshi Hiroshima.
Team Technician & Sexton legally assault tonight’s enhancement talent. Sexton finishes off Clinton with a hammerlock clothesline.
COMMENTS: Team Technician certainly accomplished what it set out to do.
3. Mikal Judas defeated Mr. Rob Adonis via DQ.
It’s evident that Jeremy Vain refuses to leave his bodyguard’s side, but the referees escort him back to the locker room. (Or so the referees think they chased Vain back to the locker room.) The crowd rallies loudly behind Mikal. Judas responds by smashing Adonis’ claw hand on the middle turnbuckle. Judas smartly works over Adonis’ claw hand by punching and posting it. Adonis momentarily gains the advantage, but further injures his hand by punching Judas. What a dolt. To the floor, Judas guardrail smashes Adonis’ hand. After commercial, Judas continues to dominate Adonis at ringside. Moments later, Jeremy Vain, dressed as a security guard, sprays and tosses hot coffee in Judas’ face. Adonis manhandles Judas by tossing him around like Paper Mache. Vain makes the cover and Adonis counts the pinfall. My, has Vain fallen from grace.
COMMENTS: Judas employed sound strategy by working over Adonis’ claw hand. I’m now how sure this feud will get, but Adonis has the opportunity to move the ladder.
4. Hayden Young defeated Jeff Lewis and Consequences Creed to become #1 contender to NWA Anarchy TV Champion Truitt Fields.
NWA Anarchy TV Champion Truitt Fields joins the announcing crew to scout his opponents. Johnson immediately accuses Fields of using the GI Bill to book a handicap match for the Awesome Attraction. Johnson might be half right because they immediately eliminate Lewis to keep the title shot amongst them. Lewis breaks up the reunion by clipping Creed. Young & Creed focus on their strategy and send Lewis flying. Johnson accuses Fields of ducking Lewis. I concur. Lewis reenters and employs a shortcut. Lewis ducks and Creed accidentally wipes out Young with a rolling clothesline. Konnan would be extremely pissed to find out that Creed didn’t hit the intended target. With Creed disposed, Lewis focuses his attack on Young’s back. Creed eventually heads back in. Young aids and abets with Creed. Young uses a Sunset flip to help Creed deliver a German suplex on Lewis for a two count. Creed suffers the consequences with a clothesline. Johnson inquires how much Fields paid for the hit on Lewis. Fields counters that he already sent Lewis straight to DVD. Young mounts a comeback. Young heads to the High Rent District, but Creed meets him. Young elbows Creed aside, but Lewis connects makes Young by superplexing him on Creed. Good spot. Lewis covers Creed for a near fall. Johnson continues to make excuses for Lewis failed sequels. Creed connects with a roll through suplex and a gutbuster across the shoulder on Young. Creed turns attention to Creed and they pull a move out of Marcus Alexander Bagwell’s book: a double cross bodyblock. Young attempt to capitalize, but misses the Flying Squirrel on both opponents. Creed prepares to knockout his former tag partner with the Monte Fisto, but he ducks and Lewis eats a knuckle sandwich. Young seizes the opening with an enziguri on Creed and maneuvers over to pin Lewis.
COMMENTS: This was a tough assignment for all three participants especially when it includes the dynamic of two faces against a single heel. There were good spots, but this was better live than on TV.
5. Phil Shatter w/Jeff G Bailey defeated “The Altar of Human Mutilation” Iceberg w/”the Reverend” Dan Wilson & the Staff of Righteousness via DQ. Thus, Iceberg retains the NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Title.
Shatter is incensed that he lost the NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Title to Iceberg at Hardcore Hell? Who wouldn’t be? Iceberg splattered Shatter’s blood to the point where the Universal Soldier was forced tap. Shatter has deadly intentions and pummels Iceberg before the ring introductions are handled. When they enter the ring, Shatter continues to brutalize the No Pain Train. Iceberg eludes a middle turnbuckle move. Iceberg’s advantage is short-lived with Shatter returning his attack above Iceberg’s right eye. Iceberg eventually fights back by attempting to further mutilate Shatter’s wound that he suffered at HH. Shatter rolls to the arena floor to recoup his senses after taking a stiff clothesline. Back in the ring, Iceberg maintains the advantage with a gourdbuster. Shatter wants to fire back, but Iceberg ends all hope with a belly to belly suplex for a near fall. After taking a series of shoulderblocks, Shatter powerslams Iceberg for a two count. Shatter heads to the top rope and lands the ELBOW DROP OF DOOM~! Shatter makes the cover, but Iceberg kicks out! Shatter awaits Iceberg, but the No Pain Train counters the spear with a knee. Iceberg avalanches Shatter. Iceberg heads to the middle turnbuckle, awaits Shatter and finds himself on the wrong end of a PTSD powerbomb. Sensing danger, the Reverend sends in the reinforcements. Bailey quickly turns the tide by unleashing another monster. Kimo (a North Carolina indy wrestler) wipes out the Rejects, including Iceberg, who eats a Samoan drop. With Kimo sending the Rejects scampering, Bailey lavishes the moment.
COMMENTS: Just when you thought the NWA Elite is finished off, Bailey always has an unpleasant surprise for his opponents. You better enjoy Shatter while you can because he’s too good to not be picked up by Vince.
OVERALL: The storylines picked up compared to the last two weeks. There was only one bad move and that was having Day tagging with Hawkins, which didn’t go over well with the crowd. Good show.

6/7 NWA Main Event TV Review
Posted by Larry Goodman
The show opened with the owner of NWA Main Event, Mike Porter, in the office with Jason James, who could feel something major was going to happen tonight. Jack Johnson poked his head in the door to ask where the bathroom was.
The place I just came from, little, bitty bathroom… you could squeeze your way into it, but you had pretty much had to SAW your way out of it.
James was joined by Tyler Clemens on commentary.
(1) Ali Stevens beat Se7en (with K-9 Kohl). Two very large black men squaring off in this one. Early on, Steven hit a beautiful slingshot crossbody onto both Se7en and Kohl. Helluva move for a guy that size. Coming out of the commercial break, Se7en was in control. Stevens used a jawbreaker to start his comeback. They traded punches. “Atomic Dogg” had the harder head. Kohl grabbed Stevens by the leg, but Se7en blindside attack never came close, as he tumbled over the top. Back inside, Stevens finished Se7en with his senton splash to remain undefeated in NWA Main Event.
(2) Steven Green beat Damien Payne (with K-9 Kohl & nameless large-breasted stripper type).Clemens questioned Green’s readiness to come off the disabled list. Payne and Kohl took advantage of what Jason James called Green’s “rookieness.” Green rolled out from under Payne’s leisurely senton bomb attempt. Green on fire. Desperation face rake by Payne but to no avail. Green pinned Payne with the worst looking O’Connor roll in wrestling history. The Green fans went wild.
Payne chop blocked Green’s bad knee and put him in the figure four. All the refs (Ferrari, Jerry Ryman and Mark Owens) were still trying to pry Payne off Green as they went to commercial.
(3) Greg King Jr. presumably beat Marc Anthony (with Charmin’ Charles) via DQ. As Anthony decimated King, the commentators said Charles was all about the title, even if Anthony was too insane to care. It took three King dropkicks to finally take Anthony off his feet. Anthony turned right around and kicked King’s head in. “You just can’t keep a good maniac down,” said Clemens. Anthony had King beat after the first Maniac Melee (top rope elbow). Charles ordered a second one. Anthony not only delivered, he knocked ref Mark Owens the #### out AND hit a third Melee.
Stevens hit the ring and went nose-to-nose with Anthony. They exchanged right hands. The entire dressing room emptied out to pull them apart. They each broke loose and it ended up as a massive scrum as they went to commercial.
June 10 at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds: From ROH: Davey Richards vs. Dingo, Anthony vs. Stevens, and LT Falk & Andy Douglas (hmm) vs. Damien Payne & Shane Smalls.
June Slam Jam 2008 on June 21 at the Nashville Fairgrounds: a Nick Gulas Memorial Battle Royal, an undetermined match from Wrestle Birmingham, and a television champion will be crowned. Two weeks away and that’s it.
During the break, matchmaker Jeff Daniels added a Stevens/Anthony streetfight to today’s program, TV time permitting.
(4) Steve-O vs. Christian Jacobs ended in a double pin and was ruled a no contest at 6:32. Clemens said the fans were excited about the return of O after a week off. The announce team did the hard sell for the live shows. Jacobs hit three big moves- a fallaway slam, a hanging vertical suplex and a hotshot. O kicked out of all three. O hit the dreaded enzuigiri for the double down. James said we wouldn’t want see a double count out ending. O made a comeback where it looked like they were moving in slow-motion. O escaped from a catapult into the corner and hit a twisting crossbody off the ropes. Did that sequence ever look lame. Jacobs did a half-assed Northern lights suplex. O hit a German suplex and referee Jamie Ferrari counted both men’s shoulders down. Ferrari was put over for making a heads up call.
Anthony and Charles were in the exhibition area outside the Fairgrounds Arena. This was surreal. Anthony was wearing an army helmet and holding a plunger in his hand. Anthony said his (deceased) Uncle Roddy P. had to come to him with a warning that somebody was coming to take Uncle Charles’s belt. Channeling General Patton, Anthony said Roddy told him to don the helmet and send Lt. Killsworth, aka his pet dachshund, Killer, off to all corners of the globe to gather the allies. “If that’s the way, you (Stevens) want to play. Come on down to the Price Is Right. And find out just how bad my bite really is.” Anthony began barking into the plunger. “He’s crazier than an outhouse rat,” said Charles.
Steve-O cut a backstage promo for his rematch against Jacobs on Tuesday, June 10. I can hardly wait.
(5) L.T. Falk pinned Shane Smalls to win the NWA Mid-American X Division Title in 11:46. Similar to their first match, Falk dominated the fast-paced flippy exchanges, with story being it was too early to put Smalls away. The momentum did a complete 180 when Smalls hit a single arm DDT across his knee. Smalls was all over Falk’s arm for a very long time. The match turned again when Smalls missed a BME and Falk nailed him with a 360 kick. Falk was very slow to cover. Smalls kicked out at two. Smalls connected with an enzuigiri. He covered using the ropes for extra leverage, but Ferrari caught him. Falk hit a spinning neckbreaker for a near fall, and looked up to find Payne at ringside. Falk fell for the distraction, but not for long, as he soon had Smalls set up for the Falkin’ Over. Smalls blocked and sent Falk into the ropes where Payne gave him a hotshot. Small caught Falk on the rebound with the Last Rites. Falk kicked out. Payne gave Falk a snap suplex on the concrete and tossed him back inside. Falk kicked out again. Payne distracted Ferrari and tossed brass knucks to Smalls. Falk ducked, and Smalls had to put on the brakes to avoid clocking Payne. Falk dropkicked Smalls into Payne and it was time to be Falkin’ Over.
Smalls and Payne beat Falk down. Andy Douglas strolled out ringside with a smile on his face and a chair in his hand. He instructed the heels to hold Falk steady. Swerve. Douglas laid Smalls and Payne to waste with chairshots. Douglas said the Naturals had parted ways because he was tired of following Stevens.
Smalls and Payne were backstage with Jason James. Payne had a splitting headache from the chairshot and Small was holding his aching back. They issued a challenge to Falk and Douglas.
Falk was on the phone backstage. It was Douglas confirming that he would be Falk’s partner at the Fairgrounds on Tuesday night.
They aired a replay of the pull apart between Anthony and Stevens and segued into clips from the Street Fight. They fought all over the building, up into the balcony and out into the parking lot. One clip showed Anthony close to falling off the balcony. Another showed the building emptying out to follow the action into the parking lot. It ended with Charles and Anthony locking the door of the dressing room to keep Stevens at bay.
THE GOOD: The best thing about this show was Anthony/Stevens program played out – from the pull apart to Antony’s vignette to the streetfight clips. The initial confrontation had the necessary intensity. As pull aparts go, this one was pretty decent. The vignettes with Anthony and Charles was both creative and freaking hilarious. Anthony is a unique talent and that’s gold in wrestling. Showing only brief clips of their streetfight was a very smart idea. It looked terrific in that form and got me interested in seeing the rematch. Some great camerawork in the balcony, too. One of the better things in general about NWA Main Event is the announcing. James and Clemens put everything over - the product, the talent, the stories – but not to a ridiculous degree where it detracts from the enjoyment of the show. Smalls and Falk had another good match. Smalls REALLY made a point of working on that arm this time around. You could see Douglas’ turn coming but that’s not a bad thing at all. Jamie Ferrari was a model of competent refereeing. It was funny the way Ferrari was put over as the greatest thing since sliced bread after Owens brainless reffing the week before. Those were some priceless expressions on the faces of James and Porter at the end of the segment with Johnson.
THE BAD: As far as upgrades go, I hope the audio is priority number one. Having the announcers interpret some of the stuff said on house mic is semi-acceptable, but not being able to hear Douglas’s big promo explaining his turn was really annoying. The lack of crowd noise deadens the show all the way around. They gave away Douglas’ turn by showing the ad for the next show beforehand. I can understand needing to push the card throughout the show, so cut two different versions of the ad. I can’t see Slam Jam doing any business based on a battle royal and a random Wrestle Birmingham match. Too much damage has been done to the standard Battle Royal format to get people to care about it. Using rumble rules works when properly put together, as Bill Behrens at NWA Wildside/NWA Anarchy demonstrates on a regular basis. Jacobs and O started OK, but the last couple of minutes were brutally bad. They were doing a lot of stuff and looked too blown up to execute. It left me never wanting to see that match again. The two newcomers, Se7en and King, didn’t get a chance to show what they could do, but that wasn’t so much bad, as a necessary sacrifice to do the right thing for the top guys. The finish of Green/Payne was horrible, not that it mattered to Green’s fan club.

Hulk Hogan Shocks World on Larry King!
Hulk Hogan’s appearance on Larry King touched off some major mainstream media turmoil.
The following was posted by TMZ.com:
Hulk Hogan: “God’s Will” That John’s a Vegetable
Posted Jun 11th 2008 8:43AM by TMZ Staff
Hulk Hogan almost broke down last night on “Larry King,” but his outrageous behavior over his derelict son’s criminal behavior was in full blossom.
For starters, Hulk said he felt Nick’s accident, which put friend John Graziano in a vegetative state, was God’s plan to make John a better person.
As for Larry…..no questions about Hulk going to Hooters after the sentencing, no questions about rubbing his daughter’s ass, no questions about Linda saying she was the real victim. Oh well.

Celebrity Wrestling Adds Fial Two!
Two more desperately seeking celebrities have joined the cast of Huck Hogan’s Celebrity Wrestlingseries.
The final two celebrities have been announced for the Hogan/Bischoff Celebrity Wrestling venture.
Danny Bonaduce, best known for The Partridge Family, will join the group of celebrities. Danny has been a long-time friend of Hulk Hogan. As a matter of fact, it was Danny that introduced Paul “Big Show” Wight to Hogan.
Dennis Rodman is the other choice. Rodman made several appearances with WCW, including a turn inside the ring. Rodman also worked as a wrestler in Australia, at one point.
These two join other celebrities: Dustin “Screech” Diamond, Todd Bridges, Trishelle, Butterbean, Nikki Ziering, Tiffany, Frank Stallone and Erin Murphy. The tapings are scheduled for this week-end. The programs will air on the CMT network in the Fall.

Shannon: Undertaker’s Future
HeadLocker–Jay Shannon
Our resident philosopher, Jay Shannon, examines the possible options for Undertaker. He is currently banned from WWE.
The Undertaker took a horrific bump on Sunday at One Night Stand. That allowed Edge to gain the World title and send Undertaker into banishment. In this edition of HeadLocker, I want to look at the possible options for Undertaker’s future. I’ll give the odds, as I see them.
The return of The Spoiler
Undertaker was trained by Don Jardine, the original Spoiler. Undertaker might do the old Under-a-mask gimmick. If he were to do that, I would suggest that he bring back his mentor’s creation. ‘Taker could don the infamous black glove. He could maintain the Old School rope-walk attack, which was a trademark of Spoiler. UnderSpoiler could actually use the Iron Claw as a new finisher. In the past, a pre-WWE Undertaker used the Iron Claw in his arsenal. This would be a great idea, but I’m not sure if Undertaker wants to come back, right away. There are rumors that Undertaker is needing time off for injury recovery.
Odds of WWE going this direction: 100 to 1
McMahon (or someone else) overturns the ban
Undertaker is a huge draw for WWE. It wouldn’t be outside the realm of reality to see Vince McMahon step in and accuse Vickie Guerrero of over-stepping her authority by making the stipulation. This could bring Undertaker back, as soon as Summerslam or as late as Wrestlemania 25. So many times in the past, decisions have been over-turned by higher-ups. This would really cheapen the whole match, but it wouldn’t be the first time.
Odds of WWE going this direction: 20 to 1
Undertaker goes into management
Undertaker could make La Familia’s life a living Hell if he were to return as a manager. There might be a loop-hole in the banishment that would only keep Undertaker out of the ring. Undertaker could stand beside his brother, Kane, in ECW matches. Undertaker could also bring in others to re-form the Ministry of Darkness. His first recruits could be The Boogeyman and a re-packaged Kevin Thorn. Thorn might even bring back his Mordecai character, which was an Undertaker-esque character. Even Big Daddy V could be used, if he gets the nod to return to action.
Odds of WWE going in this direction: 200 to 1
Undertaker gets a name change
The stipulations of the match at One Night Stand was that if Undertaker lost, then Undertaker couldn’t wrestle. Nothing says that “Mean” Mark Callous or “Maniac” Mark Calaway couldn’t make his way to the ring. OK, it’s a cheesy way to get around the stipulation, but just like the masked angle, it’s been done in other federations. I would personally hate this idea, but I think it has a real chance of being used.
Odds of WWE going in this direction: 10 to 1
Undertaker goes to ECW
This is another fine-print angle. Monday night presents WWE Raw and Friday gives us WWE’s Friday Night Smackdown. Tuesdays are the home to ECW, not WWE’s ECW. It is possible that Undertaker might slip through the net and end up joining his brother on the Black Brand. His appearance there would allow Smackdown to send it’s troops to try and vanquish the Dead Man. This is a real possiblity, after Undertaker gets some rest.
Odds of WWE going in this direction: 5 to 1
General Manager, Undertaker
With the vacancy created by William Regal’s Termination, Raw needs a new GM. The most likely choice will be Teddy Long, but Undertaker isn’t out of the equation. This is another situation where the wording of the contract could be manipulated to allow ‘Taker to take the reigns of the Red Brand. This could set up some interesting Red v Blue battles between Raw and Smackdown. Undertaker could lead his troops into battle, without actually getting in the ring. Imagine Triple H v Edge, or Jeff Hardy v Matt Hardy. This could actually lead to the unification of the brands in a final battle at Wrestlemania 25. Undertaker could be on one side and a representative of Vickie Guerrero (perhaps Koslov) could battle for ultimate supremacy. This is my favorite of all the options. It would also keep Undertaker in the spotlight, while allowing him time to heal up.
Odds of WWE going in this direction: 10 to 1
Undertaker stays retired
This would be the most honorable avenue to follow. Undertaker fought valiantly, but simply put, he lost. In a perfect world, Undertaker would just go into retirement. As the old saying goes: “He goes not gentle into that good night.” The WWE really can’t afford to lose Undertaker, long-term. With Wrestlemania 25 being held in Undertaker’s home town of Houston, there is just no way that the WWE won’t utilize Undertaker in that one. Undertaker may take some time off but he will return. Make book on that one.
Odds of WWE going in this direction: 1,000,000 to 1
In Conclusion
Undertaker will likely take some time off to rest, but he won’t be gone all that long. I’m thinking that Survivor Series would be the most likely return. That would give the Dead Man plenty of time to build up a program with Edge, or someone else, for a monster battle at Wrestlemania 25. I’m expecting the Houston battle to be Undertaker’s last. Just like this year, I could see Undertaker going into the WWE Hall of Fame and then wrestling his retirement match. He would, of course, go out undefeated.
What ever the future holds for The Undertaker, it is pretty clear that he isn’t quite ready to hang up the black hat, just yet. Undertaker needs the chance to win the World Title and then retire. Regardless of the path the Undertaker walks down, he has brought the fans great action and stories for almost 2 1/2 decades. He deserves to go into retirement, just not like this.

Hogan’s Son Gets Solitary Confinement!
Judge hands down key decision in the case. Get the details here!
Hulk Hogan’s 17-year-old son will stay in solitary confinement for now. A judge on Tuesday denied Nick Bollea’s request to change the conditions of his jail sentence because solitary confinement is causing him “unbearable anxiety.”
Bollea is serving eight months in jail after pleading no contest to causing a crash that seriously injured his friend.
Officials say he is segregated from other inmates in the county jail in Clearwater because he is a minor, even though he was convicted in adult court.
On Monday, his attorneys sued the Pinellas County sheriff, accusing jail officials of violating his privacy.
The lawsuit says jailers improperly released to the media recordings of telephone calls between him and his parents and allowed a news crew to film them

NWA ANARCHY, THIS IS PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING
5/31 NWA Anarchy Report: Fanfest 2008 by Larry Goodman
——————————————————————————–
NWA Anarchy ran a special fanfest/fan appreciation show Saturday at the NWA Arena. A good time was had by all during an afternoon of fun and frolic that included a heel dunk tank, barbecue, and a series of fan Q & A sessions.
Then, it was time for the main attraction, as a packed NWA Arena with 275 in attendance (at half-price) provided ear-splitting pops and killer heat throughout the evening.
Anarchy successfully walked a fine line last night – they gave the fans an excellent show, and they gave them just enough. The Anarchy creative team has really outdone themselves of late. The crew continues to make strides with their professionalism and overall execution in the ring.
NWA Anarchy owner Jerry Palmer opened the show. He noted that Ace Rockwell’s brother, Jordan was in attendance. Palmer informed the crowd that Katie Stephens, the seven year-old girl for whom the Fanfest raised money, was no longer in a coma. Palmer congratulated the crowd for beating the stereotype of pro wrestling fans by making a difference in someone’s life. When all is said and done, a minimum of $2500 was raised for the Stephens family. Angie Roach was introduced. Roach is a Hall County Firefighter who suffered burns on 35% of her body when she fell through a floor into a burning basement while fighting a house fire last August. NWA Anarchy raised money for her family last fall. Roach thanks the Anarchy fans for their financial and emotional support, and presented Palmer with a check for $250 for the Stephens family. They don’t call it the Church of Southern Wrestling for nothing. With that, Palmer told the fan to fasten their seatbelts because they were in for one crazy ride.
(1) Bo Newsom beat Andrew Pendleton and Jay Clinton in a triple threat match by pinning Clinton at 4:22. For a teenage rookie yet to win his first match in Anarchy, Newsom got a very healthy pop. He reminds me of Bobby Eaton’s son, Dylan. He’s got enough height to where he can fill out to be a pretty good sized guy. The heels attacked Newsom, who made a fiery one- on-two comeback before succumbing to the odds. The crowd was right there with the “let’s go Bo” chant. It quickly degenerated into a game of one up-manship between the heels. Newsom hit a tornado DDT on Pendleton, but Clinton broke up the pin and hit an exploder suplex on Bo. Pendleton then hit a hammerlock something or other to lay Clinton out. Finish saw Newsom dump Pendleton off the top and hit a corkscrew moonsault on Clinton. Good opener. It worked as far as elevating Newsom’s stature. He showed good fire and his big finisher was right on the money.
Kimo destroyed all three guys after the match. Bailey said “welcome to reality.” The refs surrounded the ring. Bailey was finally able to get Kimo under control by putting he mask back on him.
(2) Jeff Lewis & Brodie Chase & Melissa Coates & Hollywood Brunettes (Andrew Alexander & Kyle Matthews) & The Technicians (Bob E & Tyler Smith) beat Don Matthews & Wild Bunch (Billy Buck & Chris King) & Wes Grissom & Chip Day & Adrian Hawkins & T.K. Cross in 14:24. Technicians eliminated Cross at just 1:35 into the match with a Hart Attack. Hawkins and his new Mohawk were eliminated with a facebuster at 2:31, so the face side was down two in a hurry. A tornado kick by Day followed by Grissom’s top rope splash took care of Smith at 4:53. But Bob E eliminated Grissom with a Northern Lights Bomb less than a minute later. King pinned Bob E with a rocker dropper at 7:22. Kyle nailed King with a wicked corner dropkick and got the three with a small package at 7:45, giving the heels had a 5-3 manpower advantage. Alexander pinned Day with a gutbuster at 8:17. Buck ran wild on the heels, but wouldn’t punch Coates. He did give her sore ass with an atomic drop, but Lewis, ever the wily opportunist, pinned Buck using the tights at 8:38. That left Don as the lone babyface against five heels. Don made short work of both of the Brunettes, Kyle with the Lariat at 10:40 and Alexander with a short-arm lariat at 10:56. Lewis pounced on Don. Chase made a blind tag to set Don up for a clubbering, but Don came back with the BFK on Lewis. Don cleaned house. Coates got DQed for kicking Don in the man region at 14 minutes. Chase pinned Don after a spinebuster/neckbreaker combo with Lewis. Mission accomplished. Don fought the good fight against insurmountable odds. The finish advanced the Chase/Melissa/Don story without playing it for comedy and kept Lewis strong.
(3) Iceberg (with The Reverend) beat Shatter (with Attorney Jeff G. Bailey) to retain the NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Title in 12:43 after the Reverend interfered. Devil’s Rejects and Kimo were barred from ringside. The action quickly spilled to the outside. Crowd was split here. The first big move was Shatter giving Iceberg a hangman neckbreaker across the rail. Iceberg caught Shatter coming off the apron after he rolled back in the ring to break the count, but Shatter came right back with spinebuster on the hardwood floor. Iceberg crushed Shatter with a TKO onto the ringsteps. That drew a cackle of glee from the Reverend. At 5:45, the action moved back in the ring with Iceberg doing major damage. Shatter pulled a stick out of his boot and jabbed it into Iceberg’s neck. Why no DQ? Ref Brent Wiley must have been blind not to see it. A wrestling thing I guess. Iceberg applied a Crippler Crossface. Shatter was dire straits, so Bailey raked Berg’s eyes to break the hold. Shatter tried to put the 400+ pound Iceberg on his back. That wasn’t happening. They bill him at 450. He’s lost weight and gotten in better shape to where that’s nowhere close to the truth. Shatter hit a German suplex for a close near fall. Crowd thought that might have been it. Shatter went for the PTSD. No go. Iceberg hit the Air Raid Crash, but Shatter kicked out of his back cover. Shatter blocked a Ground Zero off the middle ropes and went for superplex. The Reverend grabbed Shatter’s leg and Iceberg landed on top for the three count. A good match. Not at the level of the Hardcore Hell match, but that one was a classic.
Intermission. The second half opened with a deal where Cody, the rescue dog, picked the winner of the drawing for Anarchy merchandise.
(4) Mikal Judas & Ace Rockwell & New Wave (Derrick Driver & Steven Walters) beat Todd Sexton & Chad Parham & Jeremy Vain & Rob Adonis (with Seth Delay) in 14:42 when Rockwell pinned Sexton. Rockwell high-fived his brother before the match. The babyface side cleared the ring, and heels looked none too anxious to mix it up with them. The babyface shine built to the tag to Judas. Vain cowered. Sexton tagged Parham, who in turned tagged Adonis. Judas dispatched Adonis with a Saito suplex and a Mafia kick. Parham and Sexton escaped from Judas’ double goozle, but not his double suplex. Delay interfered to start bigtime heat on Driver. Adonis hit Vain with an enzuigiri when Driver ducked. Judas shoved Rockwell aside to take the hot tag. Judas no sold Sexton’s superkick and hit the double chokeslam on Parham and Sexton. Judas spit the red mist at Adonis. Vain ran out the front door with Judas in hot pursuit. Rockwell hit a bulldog on Sexton. Parham tried to break it up with a senton backsplash and landed on Sexton when Rockwell moved. Delay tried to interfere, and Palmer pulled him off the apron. Delay and Parham had evil intentions for Palmer. New Wave hit stereo pescados to take them out. Inside the ring, Rockwell blocked Sexton’s flying front kick and hit the Aces High for the pin and the monster pop. Another very good match. Judas looked indestructible. New Wave never looked out of their league in fast company.
Postmatch, Ace’s brother, Jordan was giving Sexton a hard time on his way out. Sexton hiptossed Jordan over the rail, dragged him into the ring, and applied the Sexton Stretch. Rockwell and Palmer made the save. Sexton came across as a lowlife, scumbag, sore loser of the highest order.
(5) Shadow Jackson & Slim J beat Devil’s Rejects (Azrael & Shaun Tempers with the Reverend) via DQ in 11:55 when Concrete Gorilla interfered. The crowd went absolutely berserk at the chance to have Jackson and J’s dorags as souvenirs. “Shadowmania” chants abound. Amazing. J and Azrael started with what was probably the best wrestling segment of the show. They simultaneously connected with high kicks for a double knockdown. J ended up taking the heat. There was a killer spot where Tempers countered a huracanrana with a big time powerbomb. Rejects pulled the no tag switch on ref D. L. Norris and then prevented Norris from seeing Jackson’s tag. They’ve avoided over using those spots in Anarchy, so they worked quite well. J hit a one-on-two 360 Ace crusher on Tempers. Not good, but good enough to get by with the crowd on fire. Jackson dumped Rejects and J flew from the top with a corkscrew plancha. Nemesis and Jay Fury came out of the shadows to attack J for the DQ.
They pulled off one hell of a roller coaster postmatch to send the fans home with a thrill. Jackson and J battled to the back with the Gorillas. Shatter and Kimo showed up and cleared Rejects out of the ring. The Reverend panicked and ran. Bailey stole the belts. Iceberg came out. Bailey’s guys confronted Rejects and security intervened. Shadow and J battled their way back into the ring, leaving Concrete Gorillas on the outside with Devil’s Rejects and NWA Elite. The heels punked out the security force. Just when it looked like curtains for Shadow and J, the entire babyface side of the locker room filled the ring. Lights out-lights on- and poof! Judas was front and center towering over all the other babyfaces. Judas draped the tag title belts over the shoulders of Shadow and J. They hit Shadow’s “Ironman” music on the PA to close the show.
NOTES: NWA Anarchy returns to the NWA Arena in one week- 6/7 with Lewis & Chase vs. Don Matthews & Hayden Young, Sexton vs. Newsome, Big Time Playaz vs. Texas Treats, Vain & Adonis vs. Grissom & Day, Devil’s Rejects vs. New Wave, Hollywood Brunettes & Andrew Pendleton III vs. Malachi & Cross & Yoshi Hiroshima, Parham vs. Sal Rinauro and Fury vs. Jackson with Nemesis and Slim J handcuffed to the top turnbuckle…As part of the NWA Showcase/60th Anniversary show at Philips Arena on 6/7, it will be Shatter (with Bailey) vs. Iceberg (with Reverend vs. Judas for the NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Title…Ref Brent Wiley is booked for Philips…Congratulations to Chip Day and Kyle Matthews, who have been selected for the CHIKARA’s Young Lion’s Cup VI tournament to be held June 13-15 in Hellertown, Pa. The tournament is limited to wrestlers under the age of 25. Past winners include Larry Sweeney, Hallowicked, Arik Cannon and Chuck Taylor. …Adonis and Glacier (Ray Lloyd) just completed filming of a movie in Atlanta titled “Kerebos.” It is scheduled to open in January 2009…Matthews and J were playing horseshoes during the fanfest. Definitely not their forte…Heel commentator John Johnson was quite a site at the dunk tank in his purple bodysuit, bathing cap and water wings. Alexander complained that I never put him over, so I will: his stint at the dunk tank was highly entertaining…Hopefully, I will have links for audio files of all the Q & A sessions up in a few days.
NWA Anarchy TV Report by Ca$hFlowX
Episode 119
May 26, 2008
WRESTLING: (n.) \’res-ling\ A sport of contest in which two individuals face off in unarmed combat.
The fallout from Hardcore Hell commences with the latest television tapings (approximately 6 – 7 weeks ago). Last week on NWA Anarchy, Truitt Fields pulled down the Final Curtain on Jeff Lewis to retain the NWA Anarchy TV Title. This week, Todd Sexton & the Technicians challenge Adrian Hawkins & Chip Day & Wes Grissom in a rematch from HH. G-Rated Reunited returns, plus Melissa Coates & Brody Ray Chase continue their unusual love affair and an interview with “the Reverend” Dan Wilson accompanied by the new NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Champion Iceberg.
1. “The Excellence of Arrogance” Chad Parham embarrassed Yoshi Hiroshima to retain the Certificate of Awesomeness.
Who allowed John Johnson to become the ring announcer? Oh, yeah, it’s the Body salivating over Chad Parham defending the Certificate of Awesomeness. Sigh. (Just kidding. I’ve always wanted to see some whacky angle involving Johnson.) Chad spits in the face of the red carpet treatment by the referee by leaping over the top rope. Parham continues to humiliate his loyal followers by raking Yoshi’s back. Wow, and this is while Yoshi was worshiping his royal highness! What an not a very nice person Chad is. Parham connects with his patented delayed vertical suplex and senton splash. So much for the man who’s defeated the Great Muta, Inoki, Hayabusa (alright, so I threw that one was end though Hayabusa is retired due to a horrible injury) and every other Japanese star including Atsushi Onita in a 57 million light tube no roped barbed wire baseball bat exploding time bomb piranha death match. Now that is a mouthful. Yoshi does his best Olympic gymnastics freestyle floor exercise impersonation before Parham piledrives him straight through the earth to Japan.
COMMENTS: Welcome to Anarchy NWA Mr. Yoshi.
- The G-Rated Guys That Totally Rule Reunited has their opportunity to make fun of their opponents. They’ve been doing it for 8 years (I thought they said 7 before), but Sal Rinauro has a public service announcement sponsored by the letter G. Remember the G in T*H*U*G stands for jail. (That one is for all you Tracy Smothers fans out there.) Rinauro wants to help Dan Wilson with his foot problem, you know, the one that causes him to scream loudly? Mr. Bailey? Rinauro offers the Hug Hotline, but offers him a trip to the former Deep South Wrestling tour at Six Flags. Jeremy Vain & Mr. Rob Adonis receive a thumbs up for their lifestyle. ¿Que? Seth Delay shoots on John Phoenix, Brandon Phoenix and Jason Cross, “Isn’t it funny that they don’t wrestle here any more?” Delay laughs, but Rinauro grins and bears it before turning to Melissa Coates. Unfortunately, there is no help for her. That leaves Talent & Money, tonight’s opponents, and there will be fun, shenanigans (no chicanery and tomfoolery, eh), hoopla and whackity-do-time. Perhaps, they can win a game tonight.
2. Talent & Money (JT Talent & Andrew Pendleton III) defeated “The Chicago Cubs of NWA Anarchy” G-Rated Reunited (Seth Delay & Sal Rinauro)
Rule #1: Thou shall never interrupt, Pearl Harbor and duck for dualing backdrops on G-Rated for the consequences is suffering through dualing “Das Wunderkind” Alex Wright impersonations. After commercial, G-Rated displays tag team continuity on Talent until Pendleton plasters Rinauro’s chin on the ring apron. G-Rated miscommunicates when Pendleton ducks Rinauro. Delay writhes in pain on the floor. Rinauro fights back with a springboard clothesline to buy himself breathing time. Rinauro reaches for Delay, but Seth hops from the apron! This leaves Rinauro alone for Talent & Money to cash him in with the ATM (double team Gori special facebuster).
COMMENTS: Two birds killed with one stone: Talent & Money gain a clean pinfall victory and Delay’s upcoming heel turn. Unfortunately, the only way the NWA Arena will jeer Delay is if set Slim J or Shadow Jackson on fire.
- “The Master of Ceremonial Disasters” Greg Hunter is not alone in what he witnessed at Hardcore Hell’s love triangle: Don Matthews, Brody Ray Chase and Melissa Coates. Chase admits that Don did everything to himself at HH. Matthews is probably is alone crying and changing his Depends. Ten years ago, Chase retired from chasing women, but Matthews unlocked that door. Melissa ran to Chase on her own because she wants a real man and not someone who writes love notes. She found the best ride in the park, “the Great American Scream Machine.” The Merciless One has had enough and unleashes Hades on Chase. Coates slaps Matthews. Matthews practices physical violence against she-men by turning Coates over his knee. He turns his back and Chase smashes him with a chair. Matthews no sells and turns around, but Coates delivers the High Note Special. Chase follows up with a second chair shot to Matthews’ back to guarantee he stays down. He tosses the chair aside after a third shot. Melissa mounts Matthews to smash his head on the mat. As usual, Hunter leads someone into peril. Sigh.
- Todd Sexton offers to beat up Adrian Hawkins & Chip Day three on two just like they did at HH. Hawkins says it’s not going to work so he made a call to an old friend. Guess who the friend is? Ace Rockwell. Sexton soils himself. The heels head out to brawl with the faces at ringside.
3. Todd & Sexton & the Technicians (Bobby Hill & Tyler Smith) defeated Adrian Hawkins & Chip Day & “the 7 Figured Deal” Ace Rockwell.
Rockwell quickly demonstrates his incredible wrestling ability by delivering multiple arm drags to Hill. Sexton takes personal exception to Rockwell by firmly placing a knee to the small of the back. Rockwell crumples to the mat in pain. Rockwell unleashes an offensive flurry and receives a blind tag from Hawkins. Hawkins dazzles the Technicians with his reckless abandonment and they greet him with a vicious clothesline. After commercial, the rudo contingent works over Hawkins. Sexton mocks Wes Grissom. Hawkins finally makes the hot tag to Rockwell and he cleans house with Sexton. Rockwell crashes on a cross bodyblock, but connects with a spinebuster after ducking the Sexecution. Rockwell eats a STO and Day receives a side Russian legsweep for his efforts. Hawkins attempts a save, but Sexton counters with the Sexecution. Sexton escapes the Ace’s High and Rockwell catches Smith. Sexton catches Rockwell off-guard with the Sexecution. What not a very nice persons.
COMMENTS: Someone other than Rockwell should have taken the pinfall. It didn’t add to the overall storyline and he is a main evener. The same could be said if Sexton had been pinned, especially in a match with one mid-carder and three lower tier wrestlers. The Technicians need to integrate some heel tactics into their offense, but they have really improved. I like the Technicians as heel.
- Mr. Hunter entertains the Devil’s Rejects and draws a pop when he announces Iceberg as the new champion. Wilson brags about foretelling prophecies and capturing 2/3 of NWA Anarchy gold. Iceberg proved the naysayers wrong and forced Phil Shatter to bleed an ocean of blood. (He’s not exaggerating either.) You can do things the American way, but Wilson does so his way. Wilson lavishes in wasting Bailey’s money on the new title. He issues an open challenge to any punk in the back and Austin Creed answers the call. Creed says he will unstrap the belt from the champion, but I have a feeling that Iceberg will prevent any future TNA bookings.
4. NWA Heavyweight Champion “The Greatest Monster in Professional Wrestling History” Iceberg w/”the Reverend” Dan Wilson & the Staff of Righteousness pinned Austin “Consequences” Creed.
Creed tries to slow the No Pain Train down with a series of sleepers, but it’s to no avail. Iceberg squashes Creed. Creed rolls to the floor in pain. Wilson prepares to smash Creed with the Staff of Righteousness, but Hayden Young intercepts the Reverend. Back in the ring, Iceberg squashes Creed on a Sunset flip attempt. (Isn’t squashing a reoccurring theme throughout this match?) Creed outquicks a corner splash attempt, but Iceberg catches him with an inverted slam. Iceberg focuses his attack on Creed’s back and makes several nonchalant covers. Iceberg squashes Creed with a corner cannonball for a near fall. The crowd rallies behind Creed and he responds with an offensive flurry. Iceberg staggers right into a missile dropkick for a near fall. Creed displays his pugilistic skills and sets up for the Monte Fisto. Unfortunately, Creed is no match for the Being of Inconceivable Horror. One belly to belly suplex and Ground Xero splash puts Creed away for good.
COMMENTS: Iceberg got exactly what he needed after HH: looking like a monster in a match with a clean finish. The match was too slow and too methodical. Fortunately, the crowd remained interested in the action.
OVERALL: Today’s episode featured mostly conservative booking after Hardcore Hell, except for the Seth Delay heel turn. Overall, a very good show.

Charlotte, NC (May 30, 2008) – The word legend is
thrown around a lot these days, but “The Nature Boy”
Ric Flair is the very definition of the word and the
National Wrestling Alliance® will be inducting him
into the NWA™ Hall of Fame on June 7th at the Philips
Arena in Atlanta, GA!
Flair is an icon of Pro Wrestling and has collected 16
World Heavyweight Championships including 8 recognized
by the NWA™, 6 by World Championship Wrestling and 2
for World Wrestling Entertainment. Flair was also the
leader of “The Four Horsemen,” a dominant group of
fighters that ruled the Pro Wrestling world for many,
many years.
“With Ric Flair’s involvement, I’d say our 60th
Anniversary event is truly going to be a history
making one. I have been around the NWA™ longer than
anyone and I can tell you this marks the first time in
close to 20 years that Flair is going to step into an
NWA™ building,” said NWA™ Executive Director Robert K.
Trobich, he continued “Atlanta this is a great
homecoming for many of these men, I mean Rich, Sheik,
The Midnights, Koloff and Flair at the site of the old
Omni? I hope every wrestling fan in Atlanta comes out
and shows the support these men earned and deserved.
This may be the greatest Class we’ve ever inducted.”
Since the year 2000, Flair has wrestled for World
Wrestling Entertainment on their RAW and Smackdown
brands. Earlier this year he lost a match at
WrestleMania 24 in Orlando, FL that required him to
retire ending a storied 30 plus year career. Today
Flair acts a WWE Ambassador, representing the company
at special events.

“Beautiful” Bobby Eaton to the NWA™ Hall of Fame. To

definition of tag team wrestling. Condrey, Eaton and
Cornette are the most popular and most acclaimed
version of the team and is celebrating their 25th

Over the year’s the Midnight Express has battled just
about everyone on the Pro Wrestling scene. They were
involved in memorable feuds over the NWA™ World Tag

Blanchard, The Fantastics and The Road Warriors. Most
fans would argue that the “Midnight’s” greatest foes
were and still are NWA™ Hall of Famer’s The Rock and
Roll Express.
“We’ve always planned for something special for the
people of Atlanta and with inducting the Midnight
Express into our Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll
Express confirmed for the date our matchmakers have
