Review: The WrestleCrap Book of Lists
The esteemed editor of OWW Brad Dyckens reviews one of the most fascinating wrestling books in a long time.
The WrestleCrap Book of Lists
y RD Reynolds & Blade Braxton
From the makers of the original WrestleCrap book, inspired the universally popular website by the same name, glorifying the absolute worst that professional wrestling has to offer, comes the highly anticipated sequel - the knee-slapping WrestleCrap Book of Lists!
This is quite a unique publication. Make sure you bring your sense of humor, as you get filled in on such topics as; Wrestling nick-names that didn’t catch on, Most stereotypical wrestlers, Top wrestlers from outer space, Greatest wrestling perms of all-time, Most offensively dressed wrestlers, Worst acronyms, Examples of how wrestling and religion don’t mix, Wrestlers who should have a reality show, Top wrestling mug-shots, Excuses for not doing a job, Worst victory speeches in wrestling history, Wrestling-themed restaurants, Greatest wrestling DVD’s to never hit the store shelves, and that is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. Each list is hilarious in its own special way. I’m not exactly sure how many lists are featured in this book, but there is plenty for everybody!
When you pick up this book, and you WILL pick up this book (right?), be sure to put it directly in the bathroom - where it belongs! Let me be clear, because that sounds like the start of a BAD review! I really enjoyed reading this book, but it was certainly not intended to be read all at once. Do yourself a favor and hide within arm’s length of your toilet so you can pick it up and read a couple of pages while you’re dropping the kids off at the pool. I think there would no better tribute to the writers of the book than to read it while you’re sitting on the crapper. I’m sorry, but I’m cracking myself up as I typed those words. What I’m trying to suggest is that you slowly devour this book a little bit at a time. Pick it up, entertain yourself with a couple of comical lists, and then put the book down again. It was meant to be a fun book for both the readers and the writers.
Would you expect anything less from the two disturbed gentlemen who are proud of the fact that they purchased the Katie Vick mannequin at a WWE auction? That’s crap, but we love it!

See ROH Saga for Free!
Ring of Honor hasput the entire saga of one of its most popular storylines on YouTube!
Wrestling fans are buzzing about the Jimmy Jacobs, Age Of The Fall, Lacey and Austin Aries episodic saga. This plays out on ROH DVDs in great detail. However, you don’t have to buy every ROH DVD to follow it. You can watch it on Youtube.com and www.ROHvideos.com for FREE. Here is a chronological listing of the videos with links.
It all starts with a very frustrated Austin Aries, who has been despondent since losing the “Rising Above” World Title Match. Jimmy Jacobs and his girlfriend Lacey have been recruiting members for The Age Of The Fall. Of course, Jacobs and Lacey have had a relationship that is three years in the making. The Age Of The Fall sense that Aries will follow their revolution. They begin the recruitment with two mysterious messages that were released independently of ROH at:
1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uAaIChYscg
2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXttjevsM7Q
Speculation grew as to who Jacobs and Tyler Black were talking to in the above videos. It became clear at a FIP event when Lacey approached Austin Aries. You will see this in the 2/20/2008 ROH Video Wire at www.ROHvideos.com and at:
3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nv_JblnTeXY
From there The Age Of The Fall became the voices in Aries’ head as the recruitment intensified. However, Tammy Sytch tried to steer Aries in a more sunny direction. Watch it in the 2/28/2008 ROH Video Wire at www.ROHvideos.com and at:
4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7ACCedD3_g
Lacey enlisted the help of the newest Age Of The Fall member Rain to try to entice Aries. She also seemed to have a plan as she told Tyler Black to stay behind in the 3/26/2008 ROH Video Wire at www.ROHvideos.com and at:
5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYW85w2cV6M
Lacey’s plan to recruit Aries became a one-on-one situation. In fact, Aries finally made his choice between Lacey and Tammy Sytch in the 4/2/2008 ROH Video Wire at www.ROHvideos.com and at:
6: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyqhkb20MeY
There had been little or no contact from the two since they left Orlando together, but Jimmy Jacobs still had the word to spread as he reached out to Lacey in a message distributed independently by Age Of The Fall:
7: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMprES7tBKA
Lacey and Aries finally resurfaced with a bang in the 4/23/2008 ROH Video Wire at ROHvideos.com. This is part 1 of the must see epic night in Chicago where everything changed. Watch it at:

ECW (5/13) Recap: CM Gets Punked!
Our resident philosopher, Jay Shannon, brings us the extreme action and drama from this week’s ECW on Sci-fi
The show opened with a look back at Colin Delaney earning his WWE/ECW Contract. He overcame all the odds to defeat ECW General Manager, Armando Estrada/ Colin was so thrilled to finally get his contract.
Armando Estrada talked with Colin. He told Colin that the odds of beating Armando were astronomical. Armando decided to make Colin an even larger target than before. Colin took the clipboard with the contract but hesitated, for just a moment. When Armando questioned him about whether he would sign or not, Colin flipped the page and scrawled his name on the paper. Armando grinned as he told Colin that his first match as an active member of the ECW roster would be against Mike Knox. Colin had a look of confidence on his face as we went to the ECW opening montage.
The music of C.M. Punk rippled through the arena as Mr. Money-in-the-Bank made his entrance for our first match. Mike Adamle informed us that C.M. Punk and Kane will unite to face the WWE tag champs, Miz and Morrison, on Sunday, at Judgment Day.
Miz strolled out onto the rampway as his entrance theme echoed off the rafters. Miz had his tag partner, John Morrison, at his side. Miz stopped and asked Morrison to go to the back. Miz had a confident look as he held up his title belt.
The Miz d C.M. Punk
The men locked up in a Collar and Elbow. Punk used a Go Behind into a Gut Wrench to take Miz to the canvas. Miz tried to get free by twisting and turning as he got to his feet. Punk refused to let go and slung Miz around with another Gut Wrench. Miz finally made it to the ropes to force the break.
Miz tried for a cheap shot on the break, but Punk blocked and tried for an Irish Whip. Miz reversed it, but Punk came back with a Sunset Flip. Miz kicked out at two, but got caught with a boot to the ribs. Punk Irish Whipped Miz to the corner in preparation for the Elevator Knee. Miz brought up the boot to stop Punk. Punk caught the ankle, but Miz brought up the other foot and kicked Punk in the chest. Miz ran out of the corner and forced Punk, face-first, into the mat. Miz shot a half to roll Punk over and then pounded on the skull of Punk. Miz stomped on Punk and hit several hard Crossfaces. Miz locked in an extended Arm Bar with a Jaw Clutch.
Punk got to his feet and turned into Miz. He hit several hard knees to stun the tag champ. Punk hit several sharp kicks to the legs of Miz. When Punk missed a Roundhouse Kick, Miz Dropkicked the back of Punk. Punk fell into the ropes. Miz ran up the back of Punk, hopped over the ropes and pulled Punk’s neck down across the ropes, on the way down. Nice move. Miz slid back in the ring and tried, several times, to pin Punk. Miz locked in a Rear Chin Lock.
Punk got to his feet and elbowed the ribs of Miz. Miz answered the blows with a sharp crack to the back of Punk’s neck. Miz Irish Whipped Punk to the corner and hit the Full Body Clothesline on Punk. Miz planted his knees in the back of Punk and locked in a Rear Chin Lock that was almost a modified Camel Clutch. Miz hit several brutal Crossfaces. Punk finally got to his feet and sent Miz to the ropes. Miz dropped Punk with a Shoulder Block. Miz came off the ropes with a Fore-arm that struck Punk in the sternum. Miz charged at Punk who nailed a Snap Powerslam. Miz kicked out at two.
Miz clutched at his back. Punk broke out a version of his old Whirling Dervish series of Backfists and kicks. Punk whipped Miz to the corner and nailed the Elevator Knee. Miz shoved out of the Bulldog, but fell victim to a Spinning Leg Lariat. Punk hit a nasty Clothesline on Miz. Punk Irish Whipped Miz to the ropes and hit a sweet Leg Lariat. Punk tried to lock the arms for a Butterfly Suplex, but Miz broke free and tripped Punk. Miz grabbed the legs and floated over for a bridge pin. Punk showed incredible strength to arch up out of the pin. Punk rolled around and tried for a Backslide. Miz rolled through that and booted the ribs of Punk. Miz called for the Reality Check, but Punk dodged the Mr. Wrestling II-like Kneelift. Punk caught Miz in the Fireman’s Carry. Miz got free before going down to the G-T-S and hit the Falling Neckbreaker portion of the Reality Check. Miz snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.
Grade: A-
Morrison came out and hugged his tag team partner. The two men held their titles up in unison to show their dominance. Cherry, Kelly Kelly, and Michelle McCool walked backstage as Adamle told us all that he had Diva Feeva. I just had a 70s flashback to Denny Terrio in a polyester leisure suit. Thank the heavens we got a break so I could get that image out of my head.
We got a John Cena promo. It was a lead-in to the Cena v JBL match at Judgment Day, this Sunday.
The crowd really popped when Kelly Kelly, Michelle McCool, and Cherry made their entrance. Their opponents were Layla, Natalya and Victoria.
Kelly Kelly, Cherry and Michelle McCool d Natalya (Neidhart), Victoria and Layla
Six-Diva Tag Match
Michelle and Natalya opened up this contest. Natalya caught Michelle with a Go Behind. Michelle landed an elbow to the face of Natalya to get free. Natayla lifted Michelle and ran her into the corner. Natayla kicked and Fore-arm Smashed Michelle and then tagged Victoria into the match. Victoria kicked Michelle in the ribs and then used the arm to flip Michelle to the mat. Victoria scissored the arm and twisted to add more pain.
Michelle got to her feet and used the ropes to flip over. She then Arm Dragged Victoria across the ring. Michelle, not Kelly Kelly, threw a Dropkick into Victoria. Michelle dragged Victoria to the corner to tag in Cherry. Cherry slid under the legs of Victoria and went for a roll-up. Victoria kicked out at two. Cherry used Fore-arms and kicks to move Victoria to the ropes. Natayla blind tagged herself into the match. Natayla caught Cherry with a version of her father’s Flying Lariat. Natayla kicked the ribs and nailed a Snap Suplex. Natayla locked in a Shino-Numaki Sleeper. Cherry broke free and flipped Natayla to the canvas.
Natayla held the arms of Cherry in a Standing Surfboard. She called for Victoria to help her. When the ref blocked Victoria, Natayla turned Cherry towards Layla. Layla shouldered the ribs of Cherry. Victoria tagged back in the match. Natayla slammed Cherry and lined her up on the mat for Victoria. Victoria hit a Slingshot Guillotine Leg Drop over the top rope and onto the throat of Cherry. Victoria was shocked when Cherry kicked out at two. Cherry crawled towards her corner, but Victoria kept her blocked. As Natayla yelled “Finish Her!”, Victoria slammed Cherry in the center of the ring.
Victoria shook her backside at Cherry and then went for a Standing Moonsault. Cherry got the knees up. Cherry almost made the tag, but Victoria stopped her. Victoria locked in a Front Face Lock. As they got close to the “good girls” corner, Victoria turned and knocked Kelly off the apron. Michelle ducked a shot from Victoria. Cherry caught Victoria by surprise with a School Girl roll-up. Cherry scored one of the biggest upsets in recent history with that move.
Grade: (a surprising) B+
The heels screamed about the loss as Cherry’s new theme music played. Kelly, Michelle and Cherry raised their arms in victory.
Lena Yada talked with Shelton about losing twice to Kofi Kingston. Shelton talked about Kofi “having a horseshoe stuck where the sun don’t shine”. and the next time they meet he would “pull it out”. Kofi walked up and wished Shelton “Good Luck”. Shelton shoved Kofi. Kofi then rushed Shelton into a loading bay door. Shelton crumpled to the floor. Shelton seethed with anger as we faded out to break.
We got the promo for the Triple H edition of WWE magazine. Mike called his broadcast partner “THE” Tazz. Mike asked Tazz what he thought about the Triple H and Randy Orton situation, on Raw. This lead into a video presentation of the feud between Triple H and Orton. We saw Triple H capture his 12th title. That led William Regal to stipulate that the match between Triple H and Orton, at judgment Day will be fought in a steel cage.
Colin Delaney taped up in preparation for Mike Knox. We took a look at the rise of Colin. He so seriously got trashed by the likes of Big Daddy V, The Great Khali, Mark Henry, The Big Show, JBL and Shelton Benjamin. We then got to see the miracle moment when Colin took down Armando Estrada to win his contract. Colin was set for action, after a break.
Colin Delaney has Theme Music, finally. It sounds like a combination of screaming guitars and screeching birds, but it’s still kind of hip. The crowd was on their feet for Colin. The mood changed as Mike Knox stomped to the ring.
Mike Knox d Colin Delaney
Colin threw a Dropkick into the chest of Mike. Mike missed with an Elbow Drop. Mike caught Colin with a boot to the chest. Mike picked Colin up and nailed a Decapitation Clothesline on the rookie. Mike threw Colin in the corner and hit a Running Splash. Mike set Colin in the corner, backwards, and pounded on the back and neck. Mike brought Colin to the center of the ring and finished this massacre with the Knox U Out.
Grade: C
Armando Estrada came out and told Colin that he has to face the newest member of the ECW Roster, Armando Estrada.
Armando Estrada d Colin Delaney
Armando kicked Colin in the head. Armando said that he used his power as GM to sign himself to a lucrative salary and contract. Armando slapped the nearly unconscious Colin and then lifted him up. Armando lifted Colin up in a Reverse Stall Suplex. Instead of flipping his victim over, Armando dropped Colin straight down. Since that one doesn’t have a name yet, let’s just call it the Cuba-Plex.
Grade: D-
Estrada grinned as he noticed that Colin was bleeding from the nose. We went to the back and saw a crimson-lighted Kane waiting for his match. It was set to occur, after a break.
We got a promo for next week’s show. Kofi and Shelton are going to battle, yet again. One would assume that will be next week’s main event.
Morrison and Miz came out on the ramp. They did a dual slow-mo intro. Miz walked down with his partner, unlike earlier. Morrison posed until the pyros exploded fro Kane. Kane walked with purpose to the ring. Kane got in the ring and set off the ring post explosions.
John Morrison d Kane
Morrison used his speed to duck and weave. Morrison slipped under Kane and opened up with some serious kicks to the legs of the Big Red Champion. Morrison went for Kane’s leg, but Kane just over-powered the tag champ. He threw Morrison in the corner like most people toss a towel in the laundry hamper. Morrison spun himself between the ropes and stood on the apron. When Kane approached, Morrison slid between the legs and looked proud of himself. Pride often comes before a fall, and it did for Morrison. Kane grabbed the hair and threw Morrison to the mat.
Kane Snap Mared Morrison to the mat and threw a Low Dropkick to the face. Morrison kicked out at two. Kane twisted Morrison into what looked like a Neckbreaker. Kane lifted Morrison instead of dropping him. It turned into a Reverse Hangman’s Noose. Kane released Morrison, who hit the mat like a sack of cement. Kane popped Morrison and then choked him on the ropes. Kane whipped Morrison to the ropes and nailed a Back Elbow. Kane locked in the Rear Chinlock.
Morrison fought out and started using kicks to the left knee of Kane. Morrison kicked and hit the knee. Kane kicked the chest of Morrison, several times. Kane sent Morrison to the corner, but Kane got caught with a Back Elbow. Morrison used kicks, knees and punches to weaken the ECW champ. Kane reversed an Irish Whip and sent Morrison into the corner. Morrison responded with a few hard kicks. Morrison started throwing machine gun punches in the corner. When the ref moved Morrison back, Miz grabbed Kane’s leg.
Kane turned to confront Miz. Morrison tried for the Pearl Harbor, but Kane swung around and nailed Morrison right between the eyes. C.M. Punk walked rapidly down the rampway to counter Miz’s presence. We took a break while the ref sorted things out.
Kane held Morrison up for a Stall Suplex. Punk smiled at the move. Kane used a knee across the throat to choke Morrison. Kane nailed a Neckbreaker. Kane locked in a Rear Chin Lock. Kane dropped an elbow onto the top of Morrison’s skull. Morrison started attacking the knee of Kane, again. Kane filed off an Uppercut. Kane sent Morrison to the ropes, but dropped his head. Morrison booted the chest of Kane and then threw a Dropkick. Morrison kicked Kane in the corner and then climbed the ropes to pummel the Big Red Machine. Kane shoved Morrison off of him. Morrison quickly rushed back to the corner for more punishment. Kane pushed Morrison off the ropes, again.
Kane came out with a Big Boot, but Morrison ducked. The Shaman of Sexy let loose with several savate kicks to the legs of Kane. Morrison came off the ropes and Chop Blocked the knee of Kane. Morrison stomped on the knee. Morrison locked in a Spinning Toe Hold on Kane. Kane battled out of the crimped leg hold. Morrison hit a Dropkick to the knee of Kane. Morrison kept up the attack on the knee. Morrison slid out of the ring and slammed the knee into the ring post. Morrison kicked at the knee, over and over.
Kane hit an Uppercut, but Morrison came right back. Morrison locked up the knee in the ropes. Morrison dropped his whole weight onto the knee of Kane. Adamle talked about Kane being like the One-LEGGED Man in The Fugitive. OK, now I think they are scripting these mistakes. Morrison twisted the knee of Kane and then beat on the face of Kane. Kane got some momentum by turning around and working over Morrison with fists of his own. Morrison reversed things with several, well-placed kicks to the thigh and knee of Kane. Morrison tried to hyper-extend the knee of Kane. Kane punched at the head of Morrison. Kane kicked Morrison off him. Kane limped towards Morrison and nailed a monster set of Uppercuts. Kane whipped Morrison to the corner and hit a pair of Limping Clothesline in the corner. Kane went for the Side Slam, but Morrison flipped over and kicked Kane.
Morrison went for an Irish Whip, but Kane turned and caught Morrison with the Side Slam. Morrison kicked out at two. Kane climbed the ropes and leaped off with the Flying Clothesline.Kane reached up to signal the Chokeslam. Miz jumped on the apron, but Punk ran around to pull him down. Kane caught Morrison with a huge boot to the face. Miz whipped Punk into the steel steps. Kane turned to look at the carnage on the outside. This allowed Morrison to grab his tag title belt. When Kane turned around, Morrison blasted him between the eyes with it. Morrison then caught Kane with a Springboard Crescent Kick. Morrison scored the pin and the win.
Grade: A-
Miz slid in the ring and lifted his partner’s arm in victory. Kane slapped the mat in frustration. Miz stomped on Kane. Morrison joined in. Punk rushed the ring to aid his partner. The Miz/Morrison team double teamed Punk. Miz caught Punk with the Reality Check. They then turned to attack Kane. Miz held Kane as Morrison hit a Running Knee to the face. Miz and Morrison left the ring and held their belts up to taunt Kane and Punk.
Final Grade: B
Final Thoughts:
OK, Adamle is a total mess. He can’t even get his own partner’s name right. He can’t tell one Diva from another. He can’t even pass Wrestling Moves 101. Who’s brilliant idea was it to put this car wreck of an announcer behind the mic? I’ve tried my best to be fair, but it’s getting to the point of insulting. I so want to see Kane pull a Pete Rose on this goof. Let Adamle get in the ring and mess up an interview with the Big Red Machine. Kane could Chokeslam Adamle and then Tombstone him. Could I yell “Bring Back Joey” a little louder? I don’t think so.
Now that I’m done ranting about Adamle, I have some positive things to say about ECW. I like Knox’s finisher. It is definitive, and quick. I also think the feud between Kofi and Shelton is working well. Both men are fantastic talents that really help each other shine. This feud was a stroke of booking genius. Maybe the writers will get the hint and start setting up a few more of these great feuds. There are rumors that Umaga is about to move over to either ECW or Smackdown. An Umaga/Kane feud would be great.
One last thought. If Armando is going to be on the active roster, does that call for a new GM? I realize that he said he wanted to do both, but shouldn’t he do one or the other? He’s got a great physique and some decent talent. I see him as this generation’s Diamond Dallas Page. This is meant as a strong compliment to Armando.

WRESTLING: (n.) \’res-ling\ A sport of contest in which two individuals face off in unarmed combat.
ANARCHY: (n.) \an-ar-key\ (1) A state of lawlessness due to absence of authority. (2) A complete lack of order.
What happens when you mix the two together? NWA-Anarchy!
- Welcome to NWA Anarchy Wrestling, this is PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING~! We are two weeks away from the annual staple of Hardcore Hell. Last week, Jeremy Vain & Mr. Rob Adonis disposed of Seth Delay & Sal Rinauro. Afterwards, NWA Anarchy Owner Jerry Palmer dropped the bomb on them by announcing the winner of Vain vs. Palmer’s hand picked opponent will determine what type of math they will have in 2 weeks. Truitt Fields successfully defended the NWA Anarchy TV Title against Shaun Tempers. Mikal Judas saved Fields and was prepared to put Azreal away in the featured contest until the Rejects interjected. Fields and Jeff Lewis made the save, but the Feature Presentation had planned a devious scheme for his upcoming sequel. This week, Iceberg and Judas face off to determine the #1 contender to NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Champion Phil Shatter. Also, “the Habitual Instigator” Greg Hunter will mediate a debate between Nemesis and Slim J. Bill Behrens issued a zero tolerance policy between the rivals until Hardcore Hell.
Sexton proclaims the Regular Guys, sporting black hoodies, as Team Technician. He’s pissed that he is stuck in the ring with a green pretty boy, which draws a positive response from the Bleacher Bums. The Technician promises to stretch the former TV champion.
1. Adrian Hawkins defeated Todd Sexton w/Team Assault Technicians via DQ.
After commercial, John Johnson deems Team Technician as “the New Jerk Order.” Hawkins momentarily retains the advantage by outquicking Sexton until he is lured to the floor. Hawkins gives chase until Tyler Smith clotheslines him. Back in the ring, Sexton counters high flying antics with a dropkick to the back of Hawkins’ head. Sexton makes the cover, but Hawkins kicks out. After commercial, Hawkins valiantly fights off Sexton with a top rope Ace Crusher and mounts an offensive flurry. However, Bobby Hill sees otherwise and trips up Hawkins. This leaves an exposed Hawkins straddling the top rope and permits Sexton to clothesline him. Sexton connects with the Sexecution, but is left astonished after Hawkins kicks out. Hawkins ducks Sexton and takes to the Friendly Skies™ by wiping out Team Technician. To the apron, Hawkins counters a suplex, but finds himself on the wrong end of a rolling half crab. Hawkins struggles and forces the break by reaching the ropes, or so we thought. Sexton refuses to release the hold and the referee is forced to call for the bell. Team Technician assaults Hawkins, but Wes Grissom & Chip Day makes the save.
COMMENTS: Sexton’s has finally developed a character beyond his Technicolor challenged days as a face. Sexton and Hawkins had a good outing here and set up for a potential six man tag at Hardcore Hell. Speaking of the Regular Guys, it’s great they dropped the stupid gimmick. Team Technician should received a rub from Sexton.
- Seven years ago, a friend of mine asked me to say some MC rhymes… uh, wait a minute, that was two years ago and that was Run DMC, who were later joined by Pete Rock & CL Smooth on “Down with the King.” Alright, so that was something that you could possibly care about. Bad humor, bad humor. Seven years ago, Sal Rinauro & Seth Delay formed G Rated, where the G stood for good looking men. Everything was like it was 7 years ago while they were mocking the entire roster. Delay wishes to mock the Hollywood Brunettes. Rinauro mocks the Blondes as hailing from Hollywood when they’re straight out of Nashville. Delay mocks Melissa Coates for having the deepest voice in the locker room. Awesome! They even use Phil Shatter for a good laugh. No tag team has lasted longer than them and it’s been a long time since they have received tag title shots. What? Didn’t Sal Rinauro feud with Two Guys Who Totally Rule at Season’s Beatings 05? He even tagged with Tony Mamaluke!
2. The Devil’s Rejects (Shaun Tempers & Azreal) w/”the Reverend” Dan Wilson & the Staff of Righteousness defeated G-Rated Reunited (Seth Delay & Sal Rinauro) to retain the NWA Anarchy Tag Team Titles.
This is certainly not going to be pretty as Johnson puts it, “This is Bambi meets an NC 17 slasher flick, and it’s like Bambi vs. the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.” This is most certainly not G-Rated at first when G-Rated performs dualing Das Wunderkind Alex Wright dance moves. You can blame the crowd for demanding a “sexy dance.” It was fun nonetheless. It doesn’t take long for the Rejects to unleash carnage on the flip flopping of Delay. Azreal delivers a pair of brutal running knees in the corner. The only thing saving Delay is Rinauro making the save. After commercial, Delay rolls through to make the hot tag. Rinauro cleans house on the Rejects. G-Rated eludes the Rejects and executes dualing ranas for dualing two counts. Delay returns to his corner while the Rejects continue to work over Rinauro. Rinauro lands an enziguri and tags to Delay. It is all for naught when the Rejects use classic heel tactics. Tempers distracts the referee by introducing the Staff of Righteousness just long enough to allow Azreal to send Rinauro flying. Azreal sneaks up from behind and deviates Delay’s lower septum. The Rejects finish off Delay with the Hellhammer.
COMMENTS: This was a good match with the expected finish. The rejects are on a roll.
- Reverend Wilson gloats about wiping out another top tag team. Bill Behrens handed the Rejects an open contract and proclaims the champion’s advantage. The only way his signature will go on that contract is that if the Awesome Attraction loses, they must split up. Cue AA’s music and out walks the former tag champions. Wilson asks if AA has the guts to accept the stipulations. Hayden Young accepts Wilson’s challenge. Austin Creed wants to get it done now and sets off on the Rejects. AA double clotheslines Azreal & Tempers to the floor. It appears everything is over, but the lights go out. When the lights come back on, we know what happens next… Mikal Judas exorcises his demons. The lights go out again and Judas disappears into thin air. Creed is left in mid ring befuddled before doing a victory pose with Young.
- Up next is “the Habitual Instigator” Greg Hunter facilitating a debate between Slim J and Nemesis. Nemesis calls Hunter a cracker and attempts intimidation tactics on Slim J. Nemesis goes through the usual banter of providing an opportunity for Slim J to retreat. Slim just laughs at him and sips on water like it was nothing. Nemesis manifests like GURU of Gang Starr and vows eminent death to Slim. Slim continues to soak in Nemesis’ shallow threats and only backs up when he gets a whiff of chronic halitosis. Nemesis continues to try and intimidate Slim and prevent him from saying anything. He dare Slim to touch him so that he can kill the white boy cracker. Slim refuses to touch Nemesis and delivers his response by spitting water in his face. (Is Nemesis losing his voice? What a weakling!) Slim promises to touch Nemesis in 7 days, buster! Slim laughs his ass off as he makes his way back to the locker room. This was an awesome segment. I loved the “please stop killin’ our white boy” line.
3. Iceberg w/Dan Wilson & the Staff of Righteousness pinned Mikal Judas to earn a shot at NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Champion Phil Shatter at Hardcore Hell.
It doesn’t take long for this to break down as they brawl at ringside. Iceberg gains a momentary advantage when Judas turns his attention to Wilson. Iceberg pancakes Judas against the guardrail. Iceberg sets the steps up before using heel tactics to maintain control at ringside. Iceberg sits Judas on the ring steps and misses the Ground Xero splash. Iceberg is left coughing up a lung and a couple of ribs. He quickly regains the advantage by allowing Judas to Mafia kick the post. The referee finally calls for the bell to signify the beginning of the match when they enter the ring. Iceberg squashes Judas with the cannonball. Iceberg sets up for a running knee and connects with the referee who is checking on Judas. I would think by now that referees would learn that they don’t have to check on Judas. Judas sets up for the chokeslam, but Iceberg delivers more brutality with a belly to belly suplex. Judas recovers and is prepared to deliver the chokeslam when all of a sudden the lights go out. Well, surprise, surprise, surprise… its Necro Butcher… no.. its Grizzly Adams … uh, no, it’s TANK! Tank delivers the chokebreaker and Iceberg follows up with the Ground Xero splash. The referee recovers in time to slap the mat three times.
COMMENTS: This was a fun television brawl. d**n, Tank sure has shed weight. Good for him.
OVERALL: This was a great setup show for Hardcore Hell. It’s hard to find noticeable faults when the booking and its execution is spot on.

Johnny Swinger & Zero Tolerance defeated David Young
and Bull Buchanan, after Sonny Siaki violently
attacked Young with a chair, leaving Bull to fend for
himself. The odds eventually caught up to Buchanan,
who was the victim of a vicious S.T.O. by Swinger,
leading to the pinfall.
Cru Jones defeated Scotty Beach to retain the
Interstate Title, after severe interference from tag
team partner Shaun Banks. The two continued to pummel
Beach after the bell, until Micha Taylor ran to the
ring and made the save.
Princeston Gainey came out and offered his managerial
services to Randall Johnson, however Johnson declined,
saying he needed no guidance. Ironically, moments
later Johnson was pinned by John Bogie!
Sonny Siaki addressed his recent actions, saying how’d
he been overlooked and under used in GCW. As the crowd
chanted for David Young, Siaki became enraged,
viciously attacking ring announcer Taylor Mcknight
until David Young rushed out of the locker room. Bull
Buchanan tried to stop Young from doing something he
might regret, however Young, so full of hatred,
punched Bull in the mouth just to get a clear shot at
Siaki!
Tex Monroe & J-rod defeated Murder One and Orion
Bishop by dq. when Wicked Nemesis interfered, hitting
J-rod with his cane.
Taylor Mcknight interviewed Diane Hewes, who revealed
that Quentin Michaels contract had expired, and would
not be renewed! Mcknight and ring announcer Rob Russo
celebrated in the ring happily as the crowd chanted
“No More Weasle”.
Micha Taylor defeated Shaun Banks (with Cru Jones)
after a quick school boy roll up. This match has
already been nominated for GCWs year end awards, in
the catagory of “Match of the Year”

6-Adam Pearce & Damien Wayne went to 60:00 draw in an early candidate
for Mid-Atlantic match of the year; Baby Doll managed Pearce but ended
up leaving with DW after Pearce berated her after the match and she
responded by turning him around into a belt shot by Wayne; Baby Doll
then put on an Old School Empire shirt
This show turned out to be pretty good and was almost like the end of
an era. Promoter Rick O’Brien announced to the locker room that this
was his last show as he is going back to school. I just wanted to take
this opportunity to publicly thank Rick for all he has done for me and
the business in this area. He let me help out with taping shows and
promos and providing some ideas along the way on stuff. But most of
all he really helped the guys. Many guys that have passed thru this
area have Rick to thank for his tireless efforts in getting them more
notice and recognition through his NWA connections across the country.
Rick put more heart, soul, and money into this effort than most would
have over the course of the last 7-8 years and it is appreciated.
It was also the last show in the eastern part of the state for Scotty Blaze who is retiring at the end of the year. Vulstag and Mike Vaughn are also going on hiatus/retiring in the next couple months as well
due to injuries.
It was an emotional night with the tying up of some storylines. As mentioned in my previous post about Sean Denny & Shy officially ending their roller coaster storyline relationship of the past year. Grail got very emotional as his family hit the ring after the match where he won this title in the high school that he attended.
Good luck to Brandon Bailey, Larry Horsely, and Mike Hancock as theytake the NWA-VA name forward.

Wrestler of the (5/12) Week: LAX!
Our resident philosopher, Jay Shannon, celebrates the new TNA tag team champions. This changing group of latin superstars regained the tag team titles at Sunday’s Sacrifice Pay-Per-View. The team is this week’s Pro Wrestling Daily: Wrestler(s) of the Week. The Latino Nation reigned supreme in Sunday’s Sacrifice Pay-Per-View. LAX overcome the legendary Team 3D in the finals to take the win. LAX has been a team that has undergone multiple team members changes over the years. The central characters have always been Hernandez and Homicide. LAX is my choice for this week’s Pro Wrestling Daily’s: Wrestlers of the Week.
Looking for a new Kru
Konnan had been a part of a team known as 3LiveKru. When the man now known as Kip James came to TNA, BG James recruited him as a member of the group. The group became known as 4LiveKru. Konnan took exception to Kip’s inclusion in the group and began to pull away from BG, Kip and Ron Killings.
Konnan aligned himself with (Gran) Apollo and Homicide. The new group feuded with Kip and BG James, as well as BG’s father, “Bullet” Bob Armstrong. Ron Killings distanced himself from both factions and restarted his singles career.
Growing Pains
On February 12, 2006, Apollo called TNA management to report that his flight to Orlando was cancelled. The truth was that Apollo refused to come to Orlando, because he knew he was scheduled to lose against the James Gang. When TNA management learned of the lie, they released Apollo.
Konnan then searched for a replacement for Apollo. He was introduced to Ricky Vega, who had been trained by Johnny Rodz. Rodz suggested his sturdent and Konnan agreed. Vega adopted the identity of Machete. Machete’s initial stay would only last about a month. After losing to the James Gang, Homicide and Konnan turned on Machete and booted him from the group.
Konnan and Homicide joined forces with Texas native, “Hotstuff” Hernandez. Hernandez had spent some time as the Texas champion before returning to TNA. Hernandez had worked dark matches with TNA and the WWE, both as “Hotstuff Hernandez” and Shawn Hernandez (his given name). The trio of Hernandez, Homicide and Konnan were the most dominant of all the LAX groupings. They traded the TNA Tag Titles several times during the Summer/Fall of 2006.
LAX went through another dramatic change when Konnan left to undergo hip replacement surgery in Mexico. Doctors discovered that Konnan’s kidneys were severely damaged and initially refused to do the surgery. Konnan eventually convinced the doctors to do the hip replacement. The surgery was a complete success. After his surgery, Konnan returned, in a wheelchair, to aid his men in their battles against Team 3D.
Konnan left TNA, suddenly, to go back to Mexico and the AAA promotion. Konnan has since been extremely critical of US wrestling in the post-Benoit era. He has also filed racism and discrimination lawsuits against TNA and head writer, Vince Russo. Konnan had filed suit against Russo and WCW for similar reason during his time with that company.
The Leaderless LAX
After Konnan’s sudden departure, LAX continued to feud with various teams. The team seemed somewhat lost without a manager. LAX went back and forth between heels and faces during the next few months. They challenged Styles and Tomko for the tag titles, but came up short.
LAX also worked with numerous individuals and teams in larger matches. LAX also journeyed over to Jersey All-Pro to defeat Samoa Joe and Low-Ki (Senshi) to win that group’s tag team title.
Expanding LAX
LAX found themselves in a feud against the Rock and Rave Infection (Jimmy Rave, Lance Hoyt and Christy Hemme). A mysterious figure joined LAX to counter-act Christy. Hemme and her men began to complain to Jim Cornette about this Mystery Man attacking Christy. TNA had been promoting a no intergender attacks. The mystery latino turned out to be a latina. It was Shelley Martinez, who had recently left ECW (where she was the vampiric Ariel). After failing to become the new Elvira (Yes, seriously.), Shelley took a spot in TNA as Salinas. The name came from a town in Southern California. It was also somewhat of a combination of her first and last names.
During the same time, LAX began a love/hate relationship with Hector Guerrero. Guerrero took over at the announce desk when Konnan left the company. Guerrero and LAX crossed swords, several times. Homicide and Hernandez would eventually look to Guerrero to be an adviser. During a episode of Impact, Homicide called Guerrero to ring after LAX qualified for the Deuces Wild Tag Tournament. Homicide cut a heart-touching promo where the latinos should massive respect to the Guerrero family. Homicide asked Hector to assist them in their quest for the tag titles. Hector agreed and began to motivate the team.
Back to Glory
Hector brought his new charges to Sacrifice to fight for the tag titles. LAX dispatched Matt Morgan and Kip James in the opening round. LAX then surprised the crowd by taking out the team of Super Eric and A.J. Styles. The final match was between LAX and Team 3D. In one of the best tag matches in recent history, Hernandez and Homicide overcame the 20 time tag champions to become the new TNA World Tag Team Champions. This began the third reign for the Latino Nation.
In Conclusion:
LAX has had its problems over the years. The team lost their leader and floundered in the tag division. LAX has recently re-invented themselves with Salinas and Hector in their corner. LAX is now the top team in TNA. LAX may well be the top team in all of wrestling, right now. For gaining their third tag team title, as well as adding Hector to their group, LAX is this week’s Pro Wrestling Daily: Wrestlers of the Week.

Outside Interference — Rob Sklarz
WWE Needs A Commissioner
There is an imbalance of power in World Wrestling Entertainment. The Forces of evil abound and there is no force for good to keep them in check. Let’s take a look at who’s running the shows now and ideas on how to level the playing field.
Legends: ‘Classy’ Freddie Blassie
Our resident philosopher and historian, Jay Shannon, takes a look at one of the most colorful wrestlers/managers to ever grace the sport of professional wrestling.
A chaotic youth
Fred Blassman was born near St. Louis, Missouri in 1918. Fred’s parents came to America from Germany, just before World War I. Fred’s father was an abusive alcoholic, so Fred was often sent to live with his grandparents. At the age of 13, Fred threatened to kill his father with a baseball bat to prevent his father from hurting his mother.
Fred dropped out of high school to help support the family. Fred took a job in a meat packing plant to make ends meet. The family hoped that it would lead to a successful position as a butcher. It did, but not the kind of butcher that the family expected. Fred was introduced to boxing during his time at the meat packing plant. He won the local Heavyweight Boxing title, but became interested in wrestling.
Fred attended the matches on a regular basis. The local promoter and several of the wrestlers noticed the large man at ringside. Fred received a lot of unofficial training during this time. Fred’s first match was taken to impress a girl that he had brought to a local carnival. Within a few months, Fred was a regular on the carnival circuit. He would move from the carnivals to regular pro wrestling over the next year or so. He worked in both the St. Louis and Kansas City markets. His wrestling career was put on hold by his military career. Fred served almost four years in the Navy.He was honorably discharged and returned to the St. Louis/Kansas City area.
From a Sailor to a Vampire
After his service in the Navy, the local wrestling promoters tried to play up his military career. He was billed as “Sailor” Fred Blassie and wore a seaman’s costume to the ring. His surname was changed to Blassie to avoid any post-war, anti-German sentiment. The “Sailor” gimmick failed miserably. He would try a “Fabulous Fred” gimmick, but it was discarded almost immediately. He finished up his time in the mid-west as simply, Fred Blassie.
Fred got an offer from promoter Paul Jones to relocate to the Georgia area. It was in Georgia that the wrestler that most fans know came into being. Fred became an instant heel because the southern fans considered him “a Yankee”. Technically, Fred was a Mid-westerner, but he went along with the character. He changed his look by bleaching his hair blonde (a true sign of a heel) and by cheating in his matches. He also began to gnaw on the foreheads of his opponents. Due to his boxing days, Blassie had jagged teeth. He put forth that story that he filed his teeth down to a point. That was a massive exaggeration. Blassie won the Southern Heavyweight Championship. That put him first in line to battle the NWA champion. Blassie didn’t win the NWA top title while in Georgia. It would take a relocation to help send him to the top.
Hollywood comes a callin’
In 1952, Fred had worked for Jules Strongbow in California. He found himself in a unique tag team. He teamed with Billy McDaniel. It was a odd situation where the team changed identities based on where they wrestled. In California, where McDaniel was more well-known, Fred became Fred McDaniel. They were billed as the McDaniel Brothers. On the east coast, Billy became Bill(y) Blassie, and the tandem were marketed as the Blassie Brothers.
In 1960, Blassie returned to Strongbow’s WWA promotion in Los Angeles. This time around, he got to stay with his main character, Fred Blassie. Blassie would come to adore California and owned a home there up until the time of his death. He would wrestle the lion’s share of his career in and around California. Fred was absolutely despised in California. He often had to have police protection to and from the ring. In one memorable story, Fred told about barely avoiding severe burns from acid thrown on his back by a fan. Fred would win the NWA and WWA World titles on several occasions during his career.
Japanese Legend
Blassie began a feud with Japanese icon, Rikidozan, in 1962. That feud set Blassie as one of the top American wrestlers on Japan during that era. He made frequent trips to Japan over the next decade.
It was in Japan that Blassie would meet his third wife, Miyako. Blassie’s first marriage had failed due to his wrestling obligations, among other reasons. Blassie met and married a second, unnamed, woman between his first wife and Miyako.
Blassie caused a few legal issues for local Japanese wrestling promoters. His penchant for drawing blood from his opponents, reportedly, actually caused several Japanese fans to have heart attacks. A few were reported to have died of shock. The promotions were faced with lawsuits over the deaths. It is unclear how much of that story is true and how much was scripted by the promoters for publicity. The promoters actually used the publicity to increase the box office take. Blassie became an even more marketable property due to his outrageous blood-letting.
Forced retirement
Blassie split his time between 1963 and 1974 working in Japan, California and the WWWF. Blassie challenged both Bruno Sammartino and Pedro Morales for the top title. He was never able to capture the World title. Interestingly, Blassie was managed in the WWWF by “Captain” Lou Albano. They would later face each other at Wrestlemania I, as managers.
In 1974, Blassie faced an opponent that he couldn’t beat, the California government. There was a minor law on the books that prevented anyone over the age of 55 from being an active wrestler or boxer. Blassie, with Lou Albano’s help, converted to a manager. He would have a twelve year career as a manager before age and health forced him into full retirement.
Due to the close relationship that Blassie had with all four generations of McMahons (Jess, Vince K, Vince J and Shane/Stephanie), Blassie remained on the WWE payroll from 1974 until his death in 2003. Blassie made occasional appearances between 1986 and 2003. Blassie’s final appearance was on May 12, 2003. He served as a one-night manager for the Dudley Boyz. His last remarks were: “D-Von, get the tables”. Blassie died of heart and kidney disease on June 2, 2003.
The multiple talents of Blassie
In addition to his wrestling career, Blassie managed several men. He managed Hulk Hogan during his first WWF run (1980). He also helped the Iron Sheik win two different World titles. In 1983, Blassie led the Iron Sheik to a submission win over WWF champ, Bob Backlund. At Wrestlemania I, Blassie led the Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff to the World tag titles (they beat Mike Rotundo and Barry Windham).
Blassie also recorded several novelty records. His most famous Pencil Neck Geek was based on his famous insult to opponents. The story has it that the name was first issued to a carnival sideshow freak that Blassie dealt with during his early wrestling days. That song, along with King of Men, have been favorites on the Dr. Demento Show for many years.
Blassie was had a minor acting career. He did a cameo on The Dick Van Dyke Show in mid 60s. Blassie joined with Andy Kaufman in an odd film called Breakfast with Blassie. Among the weird topics that were discussed was Blassie’s refusal to shake hands with people. Blassie would also star in another strange film called Mr. Blassie Goes to Washington. It was a film that basically followed Blassie as he toured the nation’s capital. Both films show up from time to time on cable movie channels, usually around 3 in the morning.
In Conclusion:
“Classy” Freddie Blassie was one of the most hated grapplers during the 1950s, 60s and 70s. He had a phenominal managerial career in the WWF. He received a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame in 1994. He also received a Lifetime Acheivement Award from the WWE in 1996. He was one of the most respected and loved members of the WWE family. Numerous modern managers have based their characters, at least in part, on Blassie. Blassie is respected and honored both in the US and in Japan. He is a success in so many different areas of his life. He is the definition of a Legend.

Review: Full Impact Pro — Redefined DVD!
The esteemed editor of Online World of Wrestling, Brad Dyckens, turns critic with an incisive examination of this FIP DVD!
Full Impact Pro — Redefined
FIP DVD
February 16, 2008 - Crystal River, Florida
Another night of Full Impact Pro action began with Dave Prazak appearing on the scene with the Vice-president of DP Associates, Mr. Milo Beasley, as well as Davey Richards following close behind. Prazak said that his faction would be “redefined” tonight and it was only a matter of time before the FIP World championship is back in the DP fold. Austin Aries showed up in FIP for the first time in a year, and challenged Davey Richards to a match with Dave Prazak’s managerial license on the line. Prazak foolishly accepted the stipulation, but only if Aries put his FIP career on the line. Aries asked the fans and they all agreed that it was worth the risk to rid FIP of the evil Mr. Prazak.
PRAZAK MANAGERIAL LICENSE VS. ARIES FIP CAREER MATCH - Austin Aries vs. Davey Richards (w/Dave Prazak & Mr. Milo Beasley): What a hot match to start what promised to be a very hot show. In bitter sweet fashion, it was botched interference by Dave Prazak himself that cost Davey Richards the match as well as his own Full Impact Pro managerial license. Prazak took a hissy fit in the ring like a like a child who had his bike stolen and dropped his ice-cream on the ground.
The attention-craving faction known as the YRR drove a convertible into the building through a garage door. FIP Tag Team champions Kenny King and Jason Blade, with FIP Florida Heritage champion Sal Rinauro, Chasyn Rance, and the mouthy Minnesota Home-wrecking Crew (Rain and Lacey) partied in the ring, celebrating the absence of the Briscoe brothers. The YRR started bad-mouthing some fans, and two fans in particular, former WWE developmental wrestlers Robert Anthony and Shawn Osborne! Anthony and Osborne wanted a shot at the FIP Tag Team titles later. Seth Delay came out to support the two new-comers, and said he had unfinished business with Chasyn Rance.

The May RAW Report Card!
The Kingfish Arnie Katz presents his April promotion report card for the good folks at WWE’s RAW.
RAW got a new WWE Champion and a new Women’s Champion at Backlash — and it looks like there are more shocks and surprises coming down the road as the promotionheads for Judgment Day.
Let’s examine how the Ra=AW
Talent Pool
The roster is fairly set at the moment, except for the absence of Jeff Hardy due to suspension and the absense of John Cena on the TV show due to making a movie.
Roddy Piper, now embroiled in a mid-card feud with Santino Marella and Carlito adds a good talker, though he is probably someone who should stayout of actual matches.
The shift to babyface by Mr. Kennedy is balanced bythe gradual move toward the heel column on the part of Chris Jericho.
Someone lit a fire under Cody Rhodes. He is starting to look like a man with a future.
Bringing up fresh talent from lorida Championship Wrestling is a great way to increase the talent pool. It doesn’t work so well if you use highly promising performers like DH Smith as fodder for John Bradshaw Layfield, as happened on the 5/5 RAW.
Grade: B
In-Ring Action
RAW has presented some hopeless matches, but none can compare tothe 14-on-3 handicap match that served as the main event on the 5/5 episode. This is an example of the kind of booking that deflates the entire promotion and causes fans to shake their head. The sight of those 14 guys waiting to get the tag was simply ludicrous.
Grade: B-
Dramatics
Cody Rhodes’ improved mic work comes at a very opportune time for RAW with John Cena not available. He’s going to have to back it up in the ring, of course, but he shows a little of his daddy’s power with the stick.
The problem with the Piper-Marella-Carlito program is that it really can’t lead to anything very entertaining once the talking stops and the fighting starts. This feud desperately needs someone to serve as Piper’s ring proxy – and that definitely doesn’t mean the clownish Cryme Time.
So far, at least, the bookers have spared us the pseudo-royal trappings, though calling him “General Manager and King of RAW” makes me Very Sad. The idea of feuding him against Mr. Kennedy looks very promising and has made Kennedy an insta-face. They might want to consider calling him “Ken Kennedy,” though.
The blackouts seem complete unmotivated. I’m sure they make Regal more hared, but they aren’t a very entertaining angle.
Announcing
I assume that Regal’s substitution of Mike Adamle for Jim Ross in certain matches is just an angle. Mike’s got a polished style, but he isn’t a pro wrestling play-by-play announcer at this time.
Grade: B+
Star Power
Roddy Piper gives RAW
Grade: B-
Overall
RAW continues to be a good show with some very serious, annoying flaws. The plotting is not very adroit, which makes the show seem somewhat aimless and arbitrary. The Regal feud with Kennedy may produce some good matches, but Regals claim that he is blacking out matches to get “respect” is too silly to make a dent with the fans.
Shawn Michaels’ cross-promotion feud with Smackdown’s Batista has moved past the initial awkwardness and is running very hot. Chris Jericho gets part of the credit for getting it rolling.
Grade: B
That’s it for today. I’ll be back tomorrow with another installment of the Internet’s fastest-rising daily wrestling column.

ECW (5/6) Recap: A Tag Challenge!
Our resident philosopher, Jay Shannon, brings us the centennial edition of ECW on Sci-Fi
I’ve got my party hat on and a soda and some hot popcorn. Let me throw out a trivia question to start things off. Who fought in the very first ECW on Sci-Fi match? Check the end of the recap for the answer.
We started with a look back at the stars that have joined us each week for the last 100 years. We saw clips of Paul Heyman, Sabu, Big Show and others. Even Vinny Mac was on the screen.
Tazz welcomed us to the show. Mike Adamle was introduced. Tazz talked about walking off last week’s show in support of his partner. Mike got in the ring to a huge round of cat-calls and “We Want Joey” chants. Mike grabbed the mic and started talking about his exit, last week. Mike apologized for losing his cool. He apologized to Tazz for leaving him in the lurch. He also apologized to the fans. Mike talked about his career in football, American Gladiators, and other places. Mike sounded really cocky as he talked about announcing longer than most of the fans had been alive. The crowd was brutal. Mike didn’t realize how hard the job was. Mike tried to suck up to the fans, but they weren’t buying it. Mike talked about the wrestlers giving him grief about his mistakes. Mike told the fans to despise him, if they will, but enjoy the 100th episode of ECW. You could see the anger on his face as he left the ring.
Tommy Dreamer came to the ring with the shopping cart full of toys. The crowd erupted with joy. Stevie Richards joined Tazz and Mike at the announce table. Mike Knox stomped to the ring. Mike Adamle told us that Stevie Richards fought in the very first ECW match, ever. It was before ECW even had a television deal.
Mike Knox d Tommy Dreamer.
Extreme Rules Match
Knox pounded away on Tommy and dropped him with a Shoulder Block. Tommy blasted Mike and Clotheslined him over the ropes. Tommy went to the floor and used his shirt to choke Mike. Tommy went to get the cast, but Mike took Tommy out with a Clothesline. Mike grabbed a cookie sheet and wallopped him.
The two got back in the ring and Mike caught Tommy with a Stall Suplex. Mike laid Tommy across the ropes and hit the Leg Lariat on the ropes. Mike went to the floor and grabbed some hockey sticks. Tommy kicked a trash can into the face of Mike. Tommy beat on Mike with a hockey stick, a kendo stick and an OAR!. Tommy broke the oar over Mike’s head. Tommy emptied the shopping cart and threw it in the ring.
Tommy tried to suplex Mike onto the cart, but Mike reversed it. Mike climbed the ropes, but Tommy locked him in the Sullivan Tree of Woe and bashed him with the Singapore Cane. Tommy placed the can against Mike Knox. Tommy then placed the shopping cart next to the can. Tommy hit the Hesitation Dropkick, which sent the can and cart into Mike. Tommy sent and got a table. Tommy tried for a Bulldog, but Mike converted it into a Back SUplex through the table.
Mike went to the floor and got a chair. Mike missed with the chair shot to Tommy’s head. Tommy blasted the back of Mike with the chair. Mike recovered and caught Tommy with the Knox U Out onto the steel chair. Mike upset the Hardcore Icon.
Grade: A-
We saw the flashback appearance of the Zombie and the Sandman. Sandman whipped Zombie like a government mule in that match. We went to break.
Kelly’s Expose made an appearance. Kelly did a serious bump and grind in black leather. She had that Catwoman thing going. The crowd was both thrilled and bored at the same time. Layla joined the cance session. Kelly and Layla jockeyed for position in the ring. Layla was in jeans and a red and silver top. This was the longest Expose, ever. Kelly slapped Layla and it broke down into one heck of a catfight. Makes me miss Joey’s voice, even more. Ok, I’ll do my best Joey Styles for this one…CatFiiight!
We saw a flashback to RVD v Hardcore Holly. It wa the match where Holly had his back sliced open by landing on a table. That Suplex off the apron is a part of the “Please don’t try this at home” video on all WWE DVDs. Tazz reminded us that Holly got 17 stitches in his back because of that landing.
We saw Roddy Piper crashing Matt Striker’s birthday party. We also got to see the Boogeyman show up and put the worms in Striker’s mouth. I miss the Boogeyman.
We saw last week’s match between Chuck Palumbo and C.M. Punk. Palumbo was DQd because of failing to heed the ref’s demands. Lena talked with Chuck. He told Punk that he would knock Punk out if he got in his face again.
We went back to the arena for Shelton Benjamin’s arrival. Shelton was dressed in street clothes. Shelton joined the announce team. Kofi Kingston then danced his way to the ring. The crowd loved the Jamaican Sensation. Mike asked Shelton if he could beat Kofi. Shelton said it was like asking Mike if he could stay at the announce table for a whole show. Ouch.
Matt Striker stormed to the ring. Striker got introduced to Mr. Socko, last week.
Kofi Kingston d Matt Striker
Matt popped Kofi in the face and then hit a Belly to Back Suplex. Kofi hit a huge Dropkick and then cut loose with the Jamaican War Cry. Kofi dropped the Double Legs over the chest. Matt threw Kofi into the ropes. Kofi bounced back and hit Trouble in Paradise. Mike called it a Flying Scissors Kick, but it’s actually a Buzzsaw Enziguri.
Grade: C
After the match, Shelton attacked and hit the Gold Rush (Slider Face Plant) on Kofi. We went to the back where C.M. Punk led the talent in clapping for Colin Delaney. Colin was scheduled to battle Armando Estrada, next.
We saw the battle betwen the Originals and the New Breed. Sadly, most of the eight men in the match have left the company.
Colin Delaney got a nice pop as he walked to the ring. The Ricky Ricardo-sounding music sounded. Armando was in incredible shape as he came to the ring. He was referred to as the former Cuban Heavyweight Champion.
Colin Delaney d Armando Estrada
Contract Match.
Colin tried for a quick roll-up. Armando hit a Clothesline and then slapped Colin. Armando moved Colin into the corner and punched the kid. He then Bieled Colin all the way across the ring. Armando locked in a Keylock Armbar. Colin fought to his feet and blasted the ribs of Armando. Armando sent Colin to the mat by the hair.
Armando missed a splash in the corner. Colin opened up with fitst to the face. Colin hit an Irish Whip, but Armando held onto the ropes. Colin hit a Dropkick. Armando tossed Colin to the floor.Colin slipped back in the ring. Collin caught Armando with a roll-up and won his contract!
Grade: B
Tazz called for Colin to come over to him. Colin ran around the ring and slapped hands with the crowd. Colin thanked Tommy Dreamer for being his mentor. Colin thanked the doubters, because they made him come out, each and every week. Colin looked like he was going to cry with happiness as he realized that he was now an ECW Superstar. Way to go, Colin.
We went to the Smackdown Rebound. It was part three of the “What the Heck?” events of last week. First, WIlliam Regal pulled the plug on Raw. Second, Mike Adamle (and Tazz) took a walk. The third part was Vickie Guerrero stripping Undertaker of the World Title. Vickie sent Khali to take the title from Undertaker. ‘Taker locked in the Gogoplata Choke Hold on Khali. Vickie’s forces ran to the ring and grabbed the title. Undertaker looked ready for revenge.
Miz and Morrison joined Mike and Tazz at ringside. They gave Mike grief about mispronouncing Miz’s name in the past. Miz gave Tazz a “Chick Magnet” T-Shirt.
Bam Neeley and Chavo Guerrero made their way to the ring. THe crowd exploded as C.M. Punk made his entrance. Punk had his Money in the Bank briefcase. Punk was joined by the ECW champion, Kane. The entire arena was bathed in crimson light.
Bam Neely & Chavo Guerrero v C.M. Punk and Kane
Kane beat on Bam as the newcomer tried to take out Kane’s knee. Knae hit an Uppercut, a Clothesline and a big Bodyslam. Punk tagged in and hit a Springboard Senton. Punk worked over the arm and shoulder of Bam. Punk hit a pair of Flying Fore-arms to Bam’s face. Bam took Punk down with a Shoulder Block. Bam dragged Punk to his corner, tagged in Chavo and Bodyslammed Punk. Chavo came over the ropes for a Springboard version of the Frog Splash, but landed on the knees of Punk. Punk tried to cradle Chavo for the win, but Chavo kicked out. Punk hit a Snap Suplex. Chavo kneed Punk in the ribs and then nailed a European Uppercut. Chavo moved Punk to the corner and popped him in the head. Chavo tried to distract the ref so Bam could get some shots in. Punk turned and knocked Bam off the apron. Chavo charged at Punk and ended up flipped up and over the ropes. Bam caught Chavo before he landed. We went to break.
Punk worked on Bam’s arm with an Arm Wringer. Punk also broke out several martial arts kicks to the chest and arm of Bam. Miz and Morrison grumbled about not being talked about. Miz, Morrison and Tazz started giving Mike a hard time. I actually felt sorry for Mike. Bam reversed an Irish Whip and sent Punk into the corner. Bam blasted the back of Punk and then tagged Chavo into the match.
Chavo took down Punk with a European Uppercut. Morrison was really baiting Adamle during this match. Chavo punched the skull of Punk and then moved him to the corner. Chavo took Punk to the mat and hit the Guerrero Senton onto Punk’s back. The move was a Senton Back Splash, but Chavo tucked his arms and legs in to provide more torque to the move. Chavo locked in a Rear Choke on Punk. Chavo changed the move to bar Punk’s arm and twist the neck, at the same time. Punk got to his feet and began to throw knees to get free. Chavo used the hair to send Punk to the canvas. Chavo brought Punk to the corner, and tagged Bam back into the match.
Bam stomped on Punk and yelled at him. Miz started to get in Tazz’s face, but the ECW Original stood his ground. Punk battles to his feet, but a knee to the ribs slowed Punk down. Bam hit a Belly to Back Suplex on Punk. Chavo tagged back into the match. Chavo hopped over the ropes and planted a boot in the center of Punk’s chest. Chavo stomped on Punk. Chavo hit a Belly to Belly Suplex. Chavo shot the Half-Nelson to cradle Punk into a pinning position. Punk kicked out at two. Chavo worked on Punk’s neck. Chavo turned and punched Kane. That brought the Big Red Machine into the ring. Scott Armstrong headed Kane off at the pass.
Chavo and Bam double teamed Punk in the corner. Bam officially tagged into the bout. Bam dropped Punk with a huge fist to the face. Bam Irish Whipped Punk to the corner, but Punk jumped over the ropes and landed on the apron. Bam charged, but Punk hit a sharp Fore-arm shot to Bam’s face. Punk hit a Springboard Clothesline to drop Bam to the mat. Kane and Chavo tagged into the match. Chavo hit a Flying Crossbody on Kane, but the ECW Champ just turned and rushed Chavo into the corner. Kane cut loose with fists on Chavo and then hit a Big Boot. Kane sent Chavo flying with a Back Body Drop. Chavo scampered to the corner, only to be hit by Kane’s Running Clothesline. Kane hit the Sidewalk Slam. Kane showed the sign for the Chokeslam. Before he attacked Chavo, Kane turned and blasted Bam. Bam fell to the floor.
Chavo rushed at Kane. Kane lifted him up and dropped him over the ropes. Chavo got caught in the ropes on the way down and landed hard on the apron. Kane climbed the ropes and hit his Kane Flying Clothesline. Kane seemed to jam his knee on the landing. Kane tagged out. Punk flew off the ropes, but missed the move he wanted. Punk recovered and nailed a Leg Lariat. Punk hit several Kneelifts, but Chavo moved into a Go Behind. Punk reversed the Go Behind and shoved Punk into the corner. Punk then hit the Elevator Knee to the face of Chavo. Chavo pushed out of the Bulldog attempt. Punk turned and hit the Step-Up Enziguri. Bam made the save. Kane came in the ring and hit the Big Boot. Chavo clipped the knee of Kane. The distraction allowed Punk to catch Chavo in the Fireman’s Carry. Punk put the icing on the cake with the G-T-S. Say goodnight, Gracie. Punk laced the leg and got the pin.
Grade: A
Miz and Morrison lifted their tag teams belts to issue a challenge to Kane and Punk. We faded to black as Punk held his briefcase up. There just may be a tag title match in our near future.
Trivia Answer: The Sandman used a White Russian Leg Sweep to defeat The Zombie. The match lasted less than three minutes.
Final Grade: C
Final Thoughts: ECW 100 should have pulled out all the stops. It didn’t. There weren’t any surprise guests, like former ECW stars. The highlight match of the night was the Colin Delaney match. Even that one was a case of Who really cares?. I would imagine the ratings are going to seriously disappoint the WWE brass.
While I hope to be able to celebrate the 200th episode of ECW, I don’t think that it’s going to happen. Part of me was actually hoping that Vince was going to stroll out and tell the world that he was pulling the plug on ECW, tonight. In my fantasy version of tonight’s show, Punk would turn on Kane. He would then cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase. Punk would attack the knee and upset Kane for the ECW title. Vince would then have come out to congratulate the new champion. He would then inform Punk that he would have the honor of being the last ECW champion. Vince would look in the camera and say “Paul (Heyman), I just killed your child, for a second time.” The screen would then go black. I guess it’s a good thing I’m not on the writing team.
