LEGISLATION TO REGULATE PRO WRESTLING IN GEORGIA INTRODUCED
February 7, 2008
A bill that would revamp the section of the Georgia code related to pro wrestling was introduced in the Georgia Senate on Wednesday.
The legislative action comes only days before the Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission meets to reconsider the new rules they proposed in November, which resulted in a firestorm of protest from independent wrestling promoters across the state.
Senate Bill 413, sponsored by Eric Johnson, President Pro Tem of the Senate, strikes the provision in the current law that exempts World Wrestling Entertainment from regulation.
Johnson had previously announced his intention to introduce legislation that would expand the powers of the GAEC. SB 413 would make many of the controversial provisions in the regulations proposed by the GAEC part of the Georgia code. During a December GAEC public hearing on the matter, Bill Behrens, speaking on behalf of Georgia’s wrestling promoters, argued that the regulations exceeded the scope of the law. SB 413 would give the GAEC full legal authority to impose regulations including the following:
• A commission approved physician at ringside for every show at the promoter’s expense.
• An ambulance available on site throughout the show.
• A 5% tax on gate receipts.
• $1,000 licensure fee for all promoters.
• Up to $1,000 permit fee per show.
• A commission appointed inspector at every wrestling show.
• Medical clearance by the physician for all wrestlers.
• Mandatory drug tests if the physician suspects that a wrestler is under the influence.
• A requirement of a $50,000 surety bond for all promoters.
The bill makes no distinction between boxing, MMA or wrestling regarding any of the above regulations, yet defines professional wrestling as “a performance of wrestling skills and techniques performed by two or more professional wrestlers to which admission any admission is charged. Participating wrestlers may not be required to use their best efforts in order to win; the winner may have been selected before the performance commences; and contestants compete for valuable considerations.”
The detailed and widely criticized provisions in the proposed GAEC regulations regarding the conduct of pro wrestling matches and wrestler’s attire are disallowed in SB 413.
In December, before the GAEC tabled a vote on the proposed regulations for 60 days, WWE Attorney Jerry McDevitt stated, “If those regulations are applied to us, we won’t do Georgia.” WWE accounted for almost $2 million in tax revenue for Georgia from its shows during 2007, according to records released by the company.
At the December GAEC meeting, it was agreed that the Georgia independent wrestling promoters would form an advisory panel (GWPAC) to provide input to the Commission.
According to Behrens, who is heading up the advisory panel, “There has been no ‘give-and-take” at all.”
Behrens met with Commission Chairman, J. J. Biello and Executive Secretary Kelly Farr several weeks ago and presented them with a list of 12 proposed rules. Among the items in the GWPAC rules were registration by all promoters, licensure of all wrestlers with a minimum age of 18, security and ring barricades at all events, clean ring mats, suspension of wrestlers for performing while impaired, and a ban on the use of anabolic steroids. Behrens indicated that he got no response from Biello and Farr at the meeting. Behrens followed up with a letter stating GWPAC’s intention to be in attendance at the February 12 GAEC meeting in the hopes of hearing what consideration the Commission has given to the rules submitted by GWPAC.
We will have a report on outcome the February 12 meeting.
Behrens will address this issue in greater detail on the February 16 episode of Peach State Pandemonium.
UPDATE 2-11-08
Statement from Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission Board Chairman J.J. Biello on introduction of Senate Bill 413:
The goal of the Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission is to protect the health, safety and well being of boxers, mixed martial artists, wrestlers and members of the public that attend licensed events and use the services of ticket brokers. We look forward to any direction from the Georgia General Assembly and Governor Perdue that will help the Commission accomplish this goal. The Commission greatly respects the legislative process and will delay decisions on professional wrestling rules while the General Assembly considers SB 413.
The proposed legislative changes will:
Provide consistent oversight for all sports and licensees under the purview of the GAEC.
Bring clarity and definition to the licensing of mixed martial arts, professional wrestling and professional boxing.
Remove the ambiguity and inconsistencies of the current code.
Send a message to promoters and licensees that the state of Georgia is serious about protecting competitors and the public. This legislative change will encourage a larger number of reputable licensees to do business in Georgia.
SB 413 was introduced on February 6, 2008 by State Senator Eric Johnson. The bill was assigned to the Senate Committee on Regulated Industries and Utilities.

NWA ANARCHY TV TAPING 2-2-08 FULL REPORT
After being forced to cancel their prior television taping due to inclimate weather, NWA Anarchy wrestling returned to the NWA Arena this past Saturday night for their international television taping and a sizeable house of over 200 fans. A momentary break from the action may be just what the doctor ordered for the Cornelia fanbase as they were as rabid as ever this past Saturday and deservedly so. It appeared a month away from their home ring sparked an extra fire of ambition in the wrestlers as they were going full tilt all night.
Anarchy owner Jerry Palmer addressed the fan base regarding the current happenings in the Church Of Rasslin’. He addressed the weather, teased returning to the Georgia Mountain Center in 08′, and reminded everyone that only a battle had been won in the war against the state athletic commission and that another meeting was on the horizon, so support was still needed for that movement.
Hour 1:
1) “Kool” Seth Delay defeated the debuting Frankie Valentine in around 8 minutes with The Delayed Reaction.
- Impressive technical debut by Valentine who’s been making waves as a cruiserweight to watch around the state. This was a fairly tightly contested back and forth contest with both grapplers matching each other hold for hold in the early going. This was also a great match-up for Delay, as his opponents physical attributes practically mirrored him, and pushed him to the limit for a bout with a guy in his weight class. Valentine scored a near fall with an impressive hurricanrana, but ultimately it was not enough. The more experienced Delay was smart enough to realize Valentine was a threat and had to take an extreme chance to ensure victory, but it definately paid off in the form of the absolutely breathtaking (and damn near suicidal) Delayed Reaction, which is actually a reverse 450 splash, where the momentum from the whip his enough of a ko to basically guarantee a victory. The flipside of that is if you miss, but luckily for Seth, he didn’t, and he picked up the 1,2,3.
- Jerry Palmer returned to the ring to give a warm welcome to the returning NWA Anarchy superman, Shadow Jackson.
Jackson appeared to a raucous standing room only ovation as the chant of “Sha-dow-mania” rang out in the arena. Shadow thanked all the fans for their cards, letters and support as he was forced to go under the knife after a parking lot assault at the hands of his former best friend and tag team partner Nemesis during Season’s Beatings 2008 caused a torn achilles tendon.
During this warm and fuzzy moment, “The Concrete Gorilla” Nemesis stormed to ringside with guaranteed plan to piss all over this parade and to “finish the job” perhaps by retiring Jackson permanently but luckily for Shadow, a man as loved as he is generally has a few good friends, and one of those happened to be “The Real” Slim J who tackled Nemesis off the apron and proceeded to go toe to toe with Nemesis until security broke up the exchange. Once Nemesis was escorted from the ringside area, Shadow thanked Slim for his help and advised that he’d be gone for a couple of months but as Shadow stated “if you can find time in your schedule……..whoop Nemesis’ ASS!!!”. Slim J obliged and the two were met with a hero’s reception as they left the ring.
2) “The Stray Cat” Brody Ray Chase defeated Melissa Coates by DQ in around 5 minutes when Don Matthews interfered.
- The story with this match really was at the end. The match had yet to really get incredibly aggressive, but when Coates po’d Chase and he waylayed her, “Merciless” Don Matthews hit the ring and attacked Chase for the DQ!!! Matthews was incredibly distraught over the fact that his “love interest” was punched by Brody Chase. This caused more dissention within the Anger Alliance, but gave Chase a checkmark in the win column.
3) “The No Pain Train” Iceberg w/ The Reverend defeated The Regular Guys (Tyler & Bobby) in a handicapped match in around 3 minutes with the Ground Zero Splash.
- This was total annihilation. The Regular Guys have certainly faired ok against Iceberg in other encounters around the state but this wasn’t one of them. The 450 lbs beast got the jump on Tyler & Bobby before the bell and simply wiped the mat with them, ending the punishment with the infamous Ground Zero Splash.
- The Reverend took the mic from Greg Hunter and politely asked “No Pain Train, would you please remove the rotting carcasses from my ring?”. Wilson stated that when The Rejects went up to the secret coven over the solstice, they were foretold a prophecy…and that prophecy stated that The Devil’s Rejects would hold every championship in NWA Anarchy by the time the curtain closes on 2008 (well, 1/3rd of it has come true thus far). Next in line, he stated would be Iceberg by taking the Anarchy heavyweight championship away from Phil Shatter. He stated his main point though, was in regard to Patrick Bentley. He said Bentley can’t get his head together, and he’s disappointed him yet again, so to give him one last chance at redeeming himself he’s sent Bentley to the Singapore to learn from the ancient ones and the elders, the mastery of the asiatic spike and only if he can take responsibility for himself and master the tasks set before him, will he be allowed to return from exile. The Rev did mention that they hadn’t forgotten about Truitt Fields, it was part of the prophecy that his Television championship would soon belong to the Rejects and even though Patrick Bentley was gone for a while, there were plenty of Rejects to take his title.
4) The New Wave & Billy Buck defeated Talent & Money (JT Talent & Drew Pendleton)/The Hollywood Brunettes (”The Wizard Of Aaaaaaahs” Andrew Alexander & “Too Hot For TV” Kyle Matthews in around 12 minutes.
- Fast paced back and forth tag team action and outside of The Brunettes (who’ve been around a couple years now as a team and did take home Match Of The Year for 2007 in the Georgia Wrestling awards), my objective opinion of this match would be that it’s probably the single best match that Talent & Money, Buck & King, and The New Wave have ever been a part of. These guys were all busting behind to try and impress someone and move up the ladder and you couldn’t help but get into the youthful exuberance and energy. The highlights included alot of buffoonery from T & M, great teamwork from Buck & King and The Brunettes, and an insane dive to the outside by Steven Walters. Everyone came out of this match better than they came in, win or lose…but it was The New Wave who hit the Unskinny Bop (Side Slam/Asai Moonsault combo) on Talent for the pinfall.
- After the match “The Wizard Of Ahhhhhs” Andrew Alexander complained on the mic that they were sick of being overlooked in NWA Anarchy and forced to compete against “bottom card” tag teams, when their rightful place was on top. “Don’t you know who we are?” he exclaimed. At this time the lights suddenly went black and the ominously familiar classical strains of “Carmena Buerana” thundered across the NWA Arena and the 6′8″ Mikal Judas made his entry into the battlefield. He quickly dispensed of Matthews, Talent & Money with a boot, and a pair of chokeslams.. Alexander offered to give up the mic in an effort to save his hide and at first it appeared to be successful, but as Alexander was attempting to escape Judas grabbed him by the shoulder, spun him around and delivered an El Crucifejo. Judas picked up the mic and demand that Dominous appear. He got what he requested, but when the lights flickered Dominous appeared and had Judas in the goozle. Judas pried his grip away and applied a goozle of his own, but before a chokeslam could be administered, the lights went out and Dominous disappeared again. Judas stated that in two weeks, this would end. It would appear that he’s challenged Dominous to a match.
5) “The Feature Presentation” Jeff Lewis vs. “The Real” Slim J to determine who would face Phil Shatter in hour #2 for the Anarchy Heavyweight Championship never got underway as Nemesis proceeded to deliver a brutal assault on Slim J as he was making his way to the ring. The sneak attack beating was so severe that Slim was left unable to continue and Jeff Lewis was awarded the bout via forfeit. Nemesis was agained carted away by security and will probably be fined for that one. Was stepping up for his friend Shadow Jackson a wise move for Slim J after all?
Hour 2:
6) “The Technician” Todd Sexton defeated Adrian Hawkins in around 9 minutes by pinfall.
- This was a teacher vs. student encounter and Hawkins was up for the challenge. They traded holds early on but Sexton sent Hawkins soaring on the outside with some counter attack offense and young Adrian crashed and burned onto the hardwood floor. Sexton took control of the match at this point and tried put Hawkins away several times but he kept fighting. Sexton finally made a mistake and Hawkins took advantage to make his comeback, even hitting a huge bulldog off the top rope that would’ve done it, but Sexton’s veteran ringplacement allowed him to get a foot on the rope. Hawkins went for the Extreme Makeover, but Sexton countered and scored the pinfall victory. Problem. Hawkins foot was on the rope.Wes Grissom came out to try and influence the refs decision by explaining Hawkins quandry and at least get a restart, but the referee held his ground, at least until Sexton tried to jump Grissom from behind, but Grissom was wise to it and knocked “The Technician” off the ring apron. Sexton grabbed the mic and challenged Grissom to a 1 on 1 match at the next TV taping on 2-16-08
7) “The Untouchable” Jeremy Vain & Mr. Adonis defeated Jesse Emerson & Chip Day in around 4 minutes by pinfall with the VDT while on Day while Adonis locked in the claw on Emerson.
- Not much to this match. Day and Emerson fought hard but both are very inexperienced and were simply outclassed here by the effective combination of Mr. Adonis’s brute strength, and the cunning veteran prowess of Jeremy Vain. Vain interviewed himself after the match made it clear that they were not done with Jerry Palmer and he was gonna need a whole lot more than an axhandle or Sal Rinauro to fight his battles for him against Vain and Adonis
“The Big Deal” Sal Rinauro defeated 1/2 TNA’s Rock N Rave Infection, “The International Superstar” Jimmy Rave by pinfall with a 180 springboard roundhouse kick to the face in around 12 minutes.
- Rave was a veritable “one man hair band”, debuting his TNA “rockstar” look complete with a guitar hero controller and a “Good Evening Atlanta!”. Lance Hoyt & Christy Hemme didn’t come along for the ride. This was a battle of two men who know each other extremely well, and who were previously known as good friends outside the ring. Word from Sal is that Jimmy got a case of the ego once he got to TNA and won’t return Sal’s phone calls. Honestly, Rave’s demeanor hasn’t changed that much in recent years. He’ll gladly let you know he’s full of himself, and Sal doesn’t exactly lack confidence but his recent efforts towards abiding by the rules would perhaps say that he’s trying to turn over a new leaf and the fans seem to approve wholeheartedly. Perhaps Rave feels Sal is betraying him by trying to do the right thing? Regardless it made for a great matchup and Rave pulled out all the stops including the Disco 2000, but Rinauro kicked out. Sal also hit an incredible dive to the outside. He could never nail the running knee, and Sal was able to counter his efforts with an incredible springboard kick to the face that knocked Rave’s lights out and allowed Sal to get the pin.
9) Awesome Attraction (”Awesome” Austin Creed & “The Attraction” Hayden Young) defeated NWA Anarchy Tag Team Champions: The Devil’s Rejects: (”The Sleeper Cell” Shaun Tempers & “The Son Of Satan” Azrael) w/ The Reverend by DQ when Iceberg interfered.
- These two teams rivalry has picked up steam over recent months, and it’s almost turned to hatred upon The Rejects taking the titles from The Awesome Attraction at Season’s Beating’s 2007. The match started out with Azrael and Austin Creed and it was all business in the ring as Creed worked on “The Son Of Satan”s arm. Quick teamwork by the former longest reigning Anarchy tag champions of all time led Awesome Attraction to control the early going of the match and Hayden Young cleaned house after a blind tag that led to the Rejects needing to regroup on the outside. The Rejects took control when Tempers used Young’s trunks to leverage his head into the awaiting knee of Azrael in the corner. Tempers and Azrael beat Young to a pulp using their typical illegal tactics. Young suffered a vicious neckbreaker from Tempers and several sick kicks to the head from Azrael. When Young hit a flying headscissors out of nowhere on Tempers both men went down, and Young was able to finally get the tag into Creed who fired away. During this time things got out of control and an illegal Tempers sent Creed to the outside and went for a baseball slide but Creed sidestepped him and gave the champions a double noggin knocker as Azrael’s sneak attack was also thwarted.. This set up perfectly for Hayden Young to fly as he hit an incredible corkscrew moonsault dive onto the champions. Hayden recovered first and tossed Azrael in the ring who was the legal man to the waiting fists of Creed who hit The Montefisto, followed by Hayden Young’s Flying Squirell, with Creed (also the legal man) making the cover. It looked as if the Attraction would two time Anarchy tag team champions for sure, until the pin was broken up, by ICEBERG!!! A 3 on 2 beatdown commenced as referee Ken Wallace called for the DQ when Anarchy TV Champion Truitt Fields hit the ring for the save! He shoulderblocked the 450 pound Iceberg right out of the ring and helped Awesome Attraction recover and dump the champions. A clear line in the sand was drawn between the 6 men, and since it has been announced that on 2-16-08 it will be a 6 man tag with Fields & The Awesome Attraction taking on all 3 Devil’s Rejects (Azrael, Tempers, Iceberg)!
10) “The Universal Soldier” Phil Shatter defeated “The Feature Presentation” Jeff Lewis by pinfall after the PTSD in around 14 minutes to retain the NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Championship.
- The last time Jeff Lewis met Phil Shatter he was simply outmatched. Phil Shatter may be the most amazing specimen we’ve ever seen in the NWA Arena and that covers alot of ground. He’s in perfect shape. He’s been to war, literally as a member of the United States Marine Corp. He’s got excellent cardiovascular conditioning although he rarely has to put it to the test. He’s got more power than you could ever imagine, and he’s got the evil genious of General Jeff G. Bailey delivering orders and strategy from the front lines. Jeff Lewis has miles upon miles of experience over Shatter, and I think the result of their prior contest was a case of Lewis underestimating a more inexperienced fighter. Lewis found out first hand just what a beast Phil Shatter is and refused to make the same mistake this time. Lewis gave it all he had. He didn’t underestimate Shatter. He didn’t get too cocky. He fought his heart out. During a crucial point in the contest, Bailey had the ref, and Shatter attempted to KO Lewis with the title belt, but Lewis took the belt away from the champion. He went for the PTSD but Lewis conked him on the head. If Lewis had just made the cover, he’d have walked away champion but he just couldn’t resist the urge to give his former employer some overdue payback, so he went over and punched Bailey in the face. This freed the ref to make the count, but Shatter had recovered enough to kick out at the absolute last second. Lewis took the champion to the corner and gave him 10 big ole fat knuckle sandwiches, but Shatter being the bionic killing machine that he is was able to absorb the blows and capitalize on the one mistake Lewis made the whole match….putting himself in a position to be powerbombed. Shatter snatched Lewis into his clutches and brought him down from the turnbuckle right on his head. PTSD=123. Great bout.
- Shatter and Bailey commenced with the post match celebration but they soon found out that there are “certain things in life that can’t be stopped” as the familar music of the returning “Seven Figure Deal” Ace Rockwell played over the wrestlevision. Rockwell had taken several months off to let torn ligaments in his knee finally heal properly. He was NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Champion when the injury occured and he fought through the injury as long as he could, but it was ultimately Shatter who capitalized on a less than 100% Rockwell to take the Anarchy Heavyweight Championship. Rockwell competed once against doctors orders after the title loss in an unsanctioned texas tornado street fight against The Devil’s Rejects, but other than that has been on the shelf for over 4 months. He proceeded to face off with Shatter & Bailey, reminding them that he never got his rematch and letting everyone know he wanted the gold back before bidding them goodnight.
Notes: Due to the snowstorm, Anarchy TV aired recap episodes featuring the NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Champion: “The Universal Soldier” Phil Shatter and the hunt for his gold, as well as a special Devil’s Rejects edition of NWA Anarchy. NWA Anarchy TV Report by Ca$hFlowX
Episode 101
February 4, 2008
Congratulations to Janus of Vanguard Championship Wrestling and NWA Southern Pro for signing a WWE developmental contract. Janus resembles Bobby Lashley, but Janus can wrestle. He has a lot to work on, but Janus has a positive attitude and wants to improve. So look for him in Florida Championship Wrestling in the upcoming future.
WRESTLING: (n.) \’res-ling\ A sport of contest in which two individuals face off in unarmed combat.
ANARCHY: (n.) \an-ar-key\ (1) A state of lawlessness due to absence of authority. (2) A complete lack of order.
What happens when you mix the two together? NWA-Anarchy!
- NWA Anarchy is PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING~! Last week on NWA Anarchy TV, a locker room brawl occurred while Greg Hunter was conducting an interview with Shadow Jackson. Bill Behrens informed us that the former members of the Urban Assault Squad would face each other before Season’s Beatings. In the main event, Iceberg fought Mikal Judas to a no contest when NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Champion Phil Shatter laid them out. This week, Iceberg faces Slim J and Kory Chavis takes a walk on the dark side with Mikal Judas.
1. Talent & Money (JT Talent & Andrew Pendleton III) vs. the New Wave (Derek Driver & Steven Walters).
Great minds think alike… John Johnson, like me, is voting for Talent & Money in the 2008 NWA Anarchy Tag Team Primary. The New Wave wide the big kahuna until Talent grabs Walters’ feet and Pendleton takes over with a modified hot shot. After commercial, Walters lands a desperation spin kick a la Krazy K on Pendleton. Driver receives the hot tag to the crowd’s delight. Pendleton reenters the ring and Walters sends him flying to the NWA Arena floor. The New Wave wins with the Unskinny Bop moonsault on Talent for the victory. Afterwards, the Hollywood Brunettes deliver a nice Hanukah present to the New Wave with the Sheeney Curse. They pull out the scissors and prepare to cut Driver’s hair, but Walters make the save. BOO!
COMMENTS: This was pretty much standard tag team fair as both teams showed some fire. Yes, John Johnson, I too support Talent & Money for a mega push in 2008.
- Up next, Greg Hunter interviews “Todd not Tony” Todd Sexton. Get it, Todd not Tony is TNT? Bad joke Todd. Sexton immediately informs us that Tony Santorelli has no heart because he quit NWA Anarchy to literally wait tables. With Todd in a conundrum, he sent word to find a partner and guess what? Wes Grissom shows up. Sexton explains to Grissom he was training and preparing him for life. Sexton proposes they tag with each other to go for tag gold. Grissom said that’s great. According to Sexton, Tony has a big nose and the muscles go to his head and so Todd did the noble thing by returning the tag titles. What a loser. Sexton coaxes Grissom into tagging with him. Grissom says he came to Anarchy to become a wrestler and a wrestler to become a champion, so tonight he’ll tag with the Bald Retard. Sexton offers a handshake and Grissom obliges. I can’t believe Grissom fell for one of the oldest tricks in the book. Then again, that’s three Hunter interviews within three months that didn’t end in a full scale brawl. Something is awry here.
2. The Anger Alliance (Brody Ray Chase & Don Matthews & Brandon Phoenix & Adam Roberts) defeated the Regular Guys (Tyler Smith & Bob E Hill) & Chip Day & “Brokeback” Billy Buck.
This match is joined in progress with Chase working over Buck. The Regular Guys rally the crowd after Buck lands an enziguri on Chase. Buck crawls to his corner to make the tag to Day. Day dropkicks Chase into Matthews for a tag. Matthews provides Day a lesson in being a Southern gentleman with the every so friendly Lariat of DOOM~! Afterwards, the Alliance exudes Anger by turning the Regular Guys into Below Average Joes. Double A strolls to ringside and observe Melissa Coates destroying the Regular Guys. Well, maybe they’re Brokeback Guys now since they teamed with Billy Buck. Coates screams like an Amazon while Matthews is mesmerized by her beauty. Roberts tries to snap Matthews out of daydreaming, but to no avail until Coates heads back to the locker room.
COMMENTS: I think Matthews’ love interest in Coates in silly, but it’s entertaining. Then again, the Anger Alliance has turned into a fun soap opera.
- The Reverend Dan Wilson & the Devil’s Rejects hate nothing more than the Holiday Season, aka Christmas and not winter solstice. It has been a long and arduous war with Slim J. Patrick Bentley’s problem may be extinguished for good after the No Pain Train takes care of the puke. Slim can go home and indulge just like the rest of his fat relatives; just like gluttonous pigs do. Iceberg crushing Slim is only the beginning because Bentley will wish Sal Rinauro an unholy Christmas. Azreal & Shaun Tempers will finally be awarded the #1 contender to the NWA Anarchy Tag Team Titles. The Rejects will snatch the tag titles from the Awesome Attraction, Iceberg the NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Title and Patrick may just be holding gold in the future. Sounds like planting seeds for a Bentley TV Title run.
3. Iceberg w/Dan Wilson & the Staff of Righteousness pinned Slim J.
Slim used his quickness early on by avoiding a squash on a Sunset flip attempt. Slim works over Iceberg’s head, but the weight advantage is too much. Iceberg connects with a delayed vertical suplex that would make Chad Parham blush. The Inconceivable Being of Horror applies a modified backbreaker before tossing Slim’s limp carcass to the mat. After commercial, Iceberg inverts Slim with a brutal clothesline. Slim finally buys himself time with an enziguri, but gets caught on a Screwdriver on the Rocks attempt. Slim finds himself tied to the Tree of Woe, but pulls himself up to avoid becoming tonight’s breakfast at Denny’s. Iceberg catches Slim on the top turnbuckle and prepares for a superplex, but Slim pounds his way out. Slim catches Iceberg with a top rope inverted DDT for a two count. Slim rallies the crowd, heads to the High Rent District and misses a missile dropkick. Iceberg ends the carnage with the Ground Xero splash. Wilson signals to Bentley, who methodically stalks his prey. Bentley pounds Slim and hurls him by the announcer’s table. Bentley sends his flying into the announcer’s table as Wilson howls in approval. Bentley picks up the Slim’s bloody carcass and sends him back into the ring. Iceberg rips off the chain link fence located on the announcing booth and slides it to Bentley. They stretch it out and Bentley delivers the Cornelia Destroyer (gosh I hate the name Dark Driver) onto the fence. Bentley just gazes into outer space after soaking his hands with Slim’s blood. Well part one of Wilson’s plan has possibly come to fruition.
COMMENTS: Iceberg looks much slimmer and more agile. Kudos to Slim for taking a manhandling and a postmatch beatdown fro Bentley, and selling like a million bucks. Who would have ever thought Bentley would turn in a sick and sadistic freak? This is great stuff.
4. Mikal Judas pinned Kory Chavis w/Jeff G Bailey.
This match starts off with a staredown and a slap by Chavis. Chavis finds out early on that intimidation tactics fail to scathe Judas. Maybe Judas is unfazed by Chavis, but the announcing crew is still stunned over the events of the previous segment. Chavis retreats and Judas gives chase. Judas sends Bailey scurrying for cover before goozling Chavis. Chavis escapes with the Mo Howard eyelock. Chavis spends the next several minutes by physically dominating Judas. To ringside, Judas fights back and tosses Chavis back into the ring. Judas tasks over with a pair of turnbuckle whips followed by clotheslines. Judas prepares to launch himself, but Bailey grabs his leg and Chavis takes over by dropkicking him. Chavis takes advantage with a superplex. After commercial, Johnson shoots on the GAEC by saying Georgia’s government is inconsistent. South Carolina’s wrestling board is pretty bad just like Virginia’s and it’s stupid no blood policy. DPOR sucks. Back to the match, Chavis is exasperated that Judas kicked out of a pinfall attempt after delivering the Spinesplitta. Judas goozles Chavis, but he goes right back to the eyes. Chavis injures himself on a headbutt, but remains in control with a clothesline. Chavis applies a chinlock and then claws Judas’ eyes. Chavis stands over Judas’ limp body and bows as Jeff Lewis would. Judas has enough of Chavis’ bull nuts, goozles him and chokeslams him. Judas is slow to make the cover and scores a 2¾ count. Chavis counters an Irish whip with a second Spinesplitta. He makes the cover, but Judas kicks out! The Ruthless Villain is completely befuddled that he can’t put Judas away. Chavis goes for the Dark City Street Cutter, but Judas delivers a series of stiff headbutts to escape. Chavis turns around and runs right into the El Crucifijo. Judas makes the cover for the victory. Bailey just stares in horror as Judas slithers to ringside and exits out the front door. With Bailey’s & Chavis’ attention turned to Judas, the Feature Presentation takes advantage with a premeditated attack. Bailey throws the most ineffectual forearm in NWA Arena history, but it was enough to allow Chavis a chance to escape.
COMMENTS: This was the second straight solid match with a convincing clean ending. After two potential main event matches, there is still no clear #1 contender to NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Champion Phil Shatter.
OVERALL: This was a solid show that posed more questions than it answered. The #1 contender to Shatter is unsettled, Sexton suckered Grissom back in, Lewis scored a moral victory over Chavis, and the Anger Alliance is up to its usual shenanigans.

2-7 NWA GCW RESULTS
Attendance was around 300
Match #1
Referee Randy Ray
GCW Tag Team Title Match
Tex Monroe and J-Rod (c) defeat The Hooligans after
J-Rod hits Mason Cutter with the TKO to retain the
titles
Match #2
Referee Jeff McGowan
Michael Cook defeats Skinny Jimmy after hitting Jimmy
with a hangman’s neckbreaker.
Match #3
Referee Jeff McGowan
GCW Interstate Title Match
AJ Steele (c) w/The Intern defeats Cru Jones w/Zero
Tolerance by DQ when Zero came in and attacked Steele.
Intern tried to save Steele from a beat down, but both
were left lying in the middle of the ring by the two
Michaels, Inc members.
Next up was “That 80’s Minute” with “That 80’s Guy”
John Bogie. Bogie came out to hype the hottest
“newest” cartoon of the 80’s and that cartoon was
He-Man. He urged the crowd to not only watch the
cartoon, but also to buy the action figures.
Out comes Commissioner Scrappy McGowan who told Bogie
to get out of the ring. The then says that even when
he is gone he knows what is going on. He then calls
out Quentin Michaels, accompanied by Zero Tolerance,
and J-Rod, accompanied by Tex Monroe. Propaganda style
footage called “Assault on an American Icon” showing
J-Rod’s finger of doom touch. He then stripped Monroe
and J-Rod of the titles and fired J-Rod.
But then out comes GCW owner Diane Hewes. She said
that what she just saw was the most disrespectful
thing she has evern seen. She then gave the tag titles
back to J-Rod and Monroe and fired McGowan.
Match #4
Referee Randy Ray
Scotty Beach defeats Johnny Slaughter with the
crossface.
Match #5
Referee Randy Ray
Sonny Siaki and David Young defeats Orion Bishop and
Zero Tolerance w/Wicked Nemesis after Young hits
Bishop with a spinebuster.
Now originally this match was scheduled as Zero and
Bishop against Siaki and a mystery partner, but before
the match began Wicked took the mic and say that Siaki
didn’t have a partner, therefore the match was a
handicap match. So for most of the match it was a
handicap match with Young coming down in basically his
street clothes. It did look like Zero and Bishop was
going to win when Zero held Young for Bishop to gore.
But Young moved out of the way and Bishop gored Zero
out of the ring.
Match #6
Referee Jeff McGowan
GCW Heavyweight Title Match
Johnny Swinger © w/Quentin Michaels defeats Bull
Buchanan after hitting Buchanan with a pair of brass
knucks to retain the title
During the match, Orion Bishop came out and distracted
Buchanan and McGowan. At this time Michaels tossed the
title belt into ring for Swinger to use, but Buchanan
took the belt after hitting Swinger with a big boot.
But before he could use it, McGowan turned around and
caught him. As McGowan and Buchanan struggled for the
title, Michaels tossed in the knucks and Swinger used
them.
After the match, Buchanan and Bishop brawled to the
back. Swinger and Michaels celebrated in the ring and
they bragged about Swinger’s hard fought victory. Out
comes GCW owner Diane Hewes who said that she is
getting tired of the way Swinger is representing GCW.
So next week there will be a battle royal, with
Swinger defending the title against the winner on the
21st.

NWA UPSTATE NEWS
2 matches have been added to NWA Upstate’s February
Fallout 2008 Saturday February 23rd:
Cloudy vs. Sabian
Dewey vs. The Dustytaker
The single most ominous structure in professional
wrestling, THE STEEL CAGE, makes it’s return to NWA
Upstate!!!
For the first time in over a year since the brutal and
bloody UPSTATE WAR GAMES match at last year’s
Anniversary Anarchy 3, a steel chain link fence will
surround the ring and extend into the rafters of the
building. The steel cage which has seen such other
Upstate classics as Brodie Lee vs Abyss, Dunn & Marcos
vs Cheech & Cloudy vs The Burning River Brigade, and a
match that nearly claimed the career of former Upstate
Heavyweight Champion ‘Wonderman’ Glenn Spectre is
making it’s return to the Dome Arena.
We have no idea yet just who or what The WNY Boss
Hellcat has planned for the steel cage this time
around. But if Wrestlebowl was any indication of the
lengths NWA Upstate superstars will go in 2008, this
year’s Anniversary Anarchy may be the biggest and most
spectacular NWA Upstate show EVER!!!

JP Hawke defeated Grandmaster Sexay Dewey Christopher
(Dewey dressed as Brian Christopher)
NWA Empire owner Hellcat came to the ring and
introduced current NWA Empire Lord of the Dance
(3-Way) Champion Colin (Delaney) Olsen. Olsen vacated
the Lord of the Dance title, saying that his current
WWE commitments with the ECW brand would not allow him
to continue defeding the title in NWA Empire. Hellcat
announced that a new champion would be crowned later
in the evening when Gabriel Saint, Super Assassin &
Stargazer squared off for the vacant title. Colin left
the ring to loud chants of “Thank you Colin” from the
crowd.

attacked the McCloud Brothers in the parking lot,
beating up Kyle McCloud before stuffing Evan McCloud
in the trunk of their car and driving off.
NWA Top Rope results from the Wilson County
Fairgrounds in Lebanon, TN, with all the stars of
Southern All-Star Wrestling. Attendance was 180.
1) Hammerjack won a battle royal to earn a future
title shot at “Boogie Woogie Boy” Gary Valiant’s NWA
Tennessee Heavyweight Title. Teddy Tender worked this
match announced as Big Bully Douglas. Indian Outlaw
suffered a legit injury when taking the bump when he
was eliminated. Somehow, his ear got snagged and he
ended up with 22 stitches.
2) “Wildthing” Will Owens & “Sweet” Teddy Tender beat
Lennox Lightfoot in a handicap match. It was scheduled
to be Tribal Nation, but Indian Outlaw was in the ER.
3) In a Ladder Match for the NWA Top Rope Jr.
Heavyweight Title: Rick Santel (with Paul Adams) beat
Arrick Andrews to win the title. The ladder broke when
Santel suplexed Andrews onto it. They managed to get
it somewhat back up. Finish saw both guys battling on
the ladder and knock each other off and the ladder
flopped over and took out referee Ricky Bell. With
Bell down, they both climbed for the belt again. The
belt was snagged on the cord holding it, so both came
down without it. With the belt stuck and the ladder
busted, they improvised a finish with Andrews swinging
up into the rafter and shimmying across to where the
belt was hung. Santel then did the same so they were
handing upside down on the rafters exchanging right
hands until Andrews grabbed the belt and dropped. It
was more dramatic than any planned finish. With Bell
still down and Andrews celebrating, Santel dropped
from the ceiling and hit the Rick kick. Santel grabbed
the belt, Bell came to and seeing Santel with the
belt, declared him the winner. Said to have great heat
and cause security to work overtime. As Andrews
protested to referee Ricky Bell, Hammerjack hit the
ring. Santel, Hammer and Adams worked over Andrews and
left him laying.
4) Hammerjack (with Paul Adams) beat Arrick Andrews.
Ugene was announced as not being there (he canceled to
fly to Las Vegas for the NWA Showcase TV taping).
Adams went to delare Hammerjack the winner via
forfeit. Andrews came out and Mike Sircy ordered a
match. Finish saw Adams set up the slegehammer in the
corner and draw the ref, while Hammer reversed a whip
into the corner and drop toe holded Andrews into the
sledgehammer. Ref turned around 1-2-3.
5) “Boogie Woogie Boy” Gary Valiant (with Miss Boogie)
beat Kid Kash.
6) The Bomb Squad beat Homicidal Tendencies via DQ.
Tendencies retained the NWA Top Rope Tag Titles. Cocky
Cody & J-5 spent the entire night under the ring and
came out to cause the DQ.
There will be no love in the Jacob Woll pavilion in
McKeesport this Friday February 15 when NWA East/PWX
presents “Valentines Day Massacre”.
This card will feature stars from across the NWA and
will be headlined by a number of high profile title
matches.
For the NWA East Heavyweight title….
“Spotlight” Scottie Gash (c) v. Brandon K
The current NWA East champion will have his hands
full this Friday when he has to defend his title not
once, but twice. His first defense will be against
local standout Brandon K. K earned this shot when he
and his partner, Chris Taylor, defeated Scottie Gash
and Dirk Cigler in a tag team match. Brandon K wasted
no time in making his challenge. Will the “Spotlight”
finally go out or will the cocky champion manage to
keep his title reign going.
The winner of that match will face…
“Iron City Hardcore” Sterling James Keenan.
SJK’s last match in NWA East was for the World
Heavyweight title and Keenan came within a microsecond
of becoming world champ. While still
focused on winning the “10 lbs of Gold”, Keenan will
have an opportunity to add yet another title belt to
his already impressive collection when he faces the
NWA East champion, who ever they may be at the end of
the night.
Keenan has proved he is one of the best in the world
and it may take a small miracle for anyone who’s
already wrestled once to have a chance to beat “The
Devil himself” and escape with the Heavyweight title.
The odds are stacked in SJK’s favor on February 15.
For the NWA National Heavyweight title
“The Patrick Swayze of Pro Wrestling” Pepper Parks (c)
v. “The Untouchable” Chris LeRusso w/ Morgan.
The NWA National Heavyweight title is suddenly one
of the most sought after prizes in the NWA and no less
than three NWA East wrestlers feel that they should be
champion. After being unable to pin the champion at
the last show, Crusher Hansen brutally attacked Pepper
Parks. Chris LeRusso ran off Crusher but, after
picking up the National Heavyweight title belt, was
attacked by Parks who thought LeRusso was trying to
take advantage of the weakened champion. Officials
struggled to separate the two backstage and numerous
confrontations took place.
LeRusso confronts Park right after the match
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-JstXHl7hU
LeRusso talks about the NWA National title when Parks
interrupts
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_z3r6WFVgY4
LeRusso earned a shot at Parks by defeating Brandon
Day. Now the popular NWA East 3 Rivers Champion has a
chance to score the biggest upset of his career by
defeating Parks. Parks, however, is much stronger and
more experienced.
In addition, both Crusher Hansen and “Spotlight”
Scottie Gash are chasing the NWA National title as
well. This match could turn into a riot at a moment’s
notice.
For the NWA East Tag Team Titles
The Franchise Player w/ JC Slick (c) v. Iron Justice
The Franchise Players (“The Prodigy” Jon Kronica and
“The Main Attraction” Max Alexander) have made the
claim that they are the best team in not only
NWA East but the entire NWA. However, standing in
their way is theimpressive young team of Gregory Iron
and Mathew Justice, Iron Justice.
At the last show, Gregory Iron managed to pin both
Kronica and Alexander in a handicapped match. As a
result, the NWA East Championship committee, led
by Shawn Patrick, made this match giving Iron Justice
at shot at the tag team straps. Can Iron Justice
overcome the cheating champions or will The
Franchise Players add another team to their list of
recent victories?
For the NWA East Brass Knuckles title
Mantis (c) v. Patrick Hayes
Mantis achieved his career milestone to this point
when he won the Brass Knuckles title from Dash Bennett
after a long, violent six month war between the two
men. However, Mantis’ big title win was short lived
when Patrick Hayes took it upon himself to attack
Mantis while he was celebrating in the ring after his
match. Hayes took it to the new champion
and sent a message that Mantis heard loud and clear.
Now the match has been signed between Mantis and
Hayes on February 15th as this time Hayes will have to
take on Mantis face to face. Hayes is a very cunning
and devious wrestler that has made a huge impact in
the NWA East since his arrival several months ago but
Mantis is fueled by a desire for revenge.
As always, this match could turn violent as the
Brass Knuckles champion has the right to name any
stipulation for the match and no one knows what
Mantis has in mind.
For the NWA North American Tag Team titles
The Wrong Crowd w/ Curtis Stevenson (c) v. The Hall
Brothers
After their first challenger from NWA Virginia were
unable to make it to Pittsburgh for a scheduled title
match at the last show, Brian Anthony and Paul Atlas
has some choice words for NWA Virginia and it’s
wrestlers.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JhuEtvawC4
Not wanting to let the Wrong Crowd run their mouth
without paying for it, The Hall Brother from NWA
Virginia quickly asked for a match against the Wrong
Crowd. The brothers will not only be fighting for the
North American Tag Titles but for territorial pride.
The Wrong Crowd have been on a roll in recent months
but it could all come to an end this Friday. Will the
Hall Brothers come into Pittsburgh and take the N.A.
tag straps or will the Wrong Crowd continue their
winning ways and get one step closer to a shot at the
World Tag Team Champions?
In addition, you will see in action Dash Bennett,
the Straight Jacket Mafia, Crusher Hansen, James Ross,
and many, many more,
