What happens when you mix the two together? NWA-Anarchy!
- NWA Anarchy is PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING~! Last week on NWA Anarchy in 8 man tag action, the World’s Prettiest Tag Team & Derek Driver & Steven Walters received a postmatch beatdown after they upset the Anger Alliance, the Awesome Attraction were disqualified when Jerry Palmer pulled the referee to the floor to explain that “Greg Hunter’s Favorite Tag Team” of Jeremy Vain & Mr. Rob Adonis used the title belt as a weapon, and Nemesis was prepared to kill two crackers when Shadow Jackson confronted him. This week, Azreal & Shaun Tempers of the Devil’s Rejects take on The Hollywood Brunettes, and Truitt Fields defends the TV Title against Patrick Bentley.
1. The Devil’s Rejects (Azreal & Shaun Tempers) w/Dan Wilson with His Leather Biker Jacket & the Staff of Righteousness defeated the Hollywood Brunettes (“the Wizard of Aaaaaaaahs” Andrew Alexander & “Too Hot for TV” Kyle Matthews).
Wow, that was a mouthful to type. The Rejects are worshiped like an old battleship in this battle of heel tag teams. Things don’t go right for the Brunettes early on when Azreal punches the living piss out of Alexander when he rolls the camera. The Rejects make Matthews pay by stiffing the living nuts out of him, too. Azreal launches a pair of thunderous chops that would make Roderick Strong blush. WHOO~! After commercial, the Brunettes gain the advantage when Alexander conveniently wipes Tempers’ eyes with Britney Spears’ special formulated blinding hair gel. Now, that was a unique way to gain the advantage. The Brunettes use heel and double team tactics to maintain control of Tempers. Wilson screams that the Brunettes are going to burn and Tempers blocks a suplex and delivers one of his own. Unfortunately, Tempers is too blinded to take advantage and the Brunettes continue to dominate him. They set up for the Sheeney Curse, but the Staff of Righteousness prevents any further damage. Tempers catches Alexander with the Temperpedic and Azreal joins in the carnage to deliver the Hellhammer on Matthews. Game, set and match, the Rejects win.
COMMENTS: The Rejects were cheered and Hell hath frozen over, even if it is located in Michigan. The match itself was fine with a fun finish. Azreal is ROH Stiff with those chops.
- We head backstage where Sal Rinauro admits to Wes Grissom there are two things he loves in life: Becky and making Todd Sexton look like a fool, which our heel color commentator enjoys saying so himself. Rinauro thanks Grissom for a job well done for embarrassing the bald retard. First, John Johnson accused Todd of being Technicolor Challenged. Then, Chad Parham says Todd doesn’t have any testacles. Now, Rinauro charges that Todd is a bald retard. d**n, Todd sure has a hard time since his return. Well, enough of that, Tony Santarelli rudely interrupts the interview and opines that Wes has been running from him. Santerelli wants to prove he is a bona fide winner, but Rinauro gladly he admits, “You can’t beat me, good job winner!” Santarelli laughs and says there are two things he doesn’t do: lose and play Monopoly. Rinauro counters, don’t collect $500 for passing go. Rinauro offers up Wes for a rematch with Santarelli, but Tony wants Sal. Well, that’s before Melissa Coates scorns Santerelli for sending him flowers. Coates is here to “kick ass and break hearts.” Coates walks over to the Anger Alliance and Brody Ray Chase wants her to be specific. Well, one thing is for sure, Don Matthews is very specific; his favorite movie is Twin Peaks and not Brokeback Bubbas. Matthews continues to ride Cloud 9 as Chase discusses more strategy. Boy, I wonder if Matthews if going to realize that Melissa is going to break his heart. Ouch.
2. Melissa Coates obliterated Aaron Lee.
Johnson admits Coates is more masculine than Lee and I agree. Coates obliterate Lee before finishing off with a facelift. Afterwards, Coates tosses Lee to the floor.
COMMENTS: Lee didn’t have what it took to make Coates’s offense look good. Hell, he didn’t even bump like he was supposed to do.
3. Tony Santarelli vs. Wes Grissom never happened.
The Bald Retard certainly didn’t take kindly to Grissom’s earlier challenges and Rinauro’s insults. It showed because Todd attacks Grissom from behind and pounds the living caca out of him. Santarelli turns to Sexton and TNT is reborn. They destroy Grissom with the X-Bomb. Rinauro makes the save before TNT can deliver a spike piledriver.
COMMENTS: In case you don’t have the opportunity to visit the NWA Arena, Grissom is way over. The booking surrounding Grissom protects him, but allows enough camera time to hide his weaknesses. IMHO, Grissom has the right attitude to become a great success. For Sexton, it’s good to see him get heat and show life. He makes a better not a very nice person heel than playing a sympathetic babyface.
4. Truitt Fields pinned Patrick Bentley to retain the NWA Anarchy TV Title.
The crowd is into the Rejects and they trade loud dualing chants for both wrestlers. Fields dazzles Bentley with his extraordinary strength with a powerbomb on the top turnbuckle. Fields levels Bentley with several clotheslines before slapping on a headlock. Bentley’s fortunes immediately turn for good when Fields prevents himself from running into the referee. Bentley makes him pay with a backbreaker for a two count. Bentley has a sick look on his face while he continues to administer punishment. Fields school boys Bentley for a two count, but that’s it. Bentley regains the momentum with a STO and focuses his attack on Fields’ back. We go to an untimely commercial as Fields is rearing to escape a chinlock. After commercial, Bentley applies a bearhug and then an abdominal stretch. Fields escapes with a dangerous looking powerslam. Fields regains his senses and sends Bentley flying with a high backdrop for a near fall. Bentley returns fire with a kick that causes Fields to fall on the middle rope. With the referee’s back turned, Wilson springs into action with the Staff of Righteousness, but Slim J cuts him off at the Pass. Bentley heads over by the announcer’s table and Slim promptly chases him back into the ring. Fields finishes off Bentley with the Killing Fields. Fields may have retained the TV Title, but the Rejects launch an attack. Fields fights off the Rejects when they set up for the Hellhammer on Slim J.
COMMENTS: This was a good match between two wrestlers who characters are headed in opposite direction. Bentley is slowly, but surely becoming more enjoyable to watch by the week. There were a couple of negatives: the first was Fields’ powerbomb on the top turnbuckle. That’s an awesome move, but it should never be used in the opening moments of the match by a face. It’s better as a momentum changer, a finishing move, used in a squash or to cripple an opponent. Moves like a powerbomb on the top turnbuckle need to be protected. The second was the powerslam, I don’t what happened, but it didn’t look too good. Thankfully no one got hurt. Last, the commercial break was sort of poorly timed. Aside from that, Fields has really improved since his feud with Jeremy Vain. He’s earned the right to hold the TV Title and has made a good champion.
- Jeff Lewis commands Kory Chavis to do this right now. Lewis impatiently awaits while Jeff G Bailey enters with NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Champion Phil Shatter. Bailey says Lewis must be retarded for an open challenge because Chavis beat him silly. Chavis isn’t here, so Bailey offers up the Universal Soldier. Shatter hands over the belt and he charges in. They brawl in mid ring until Bailey trips up Lewis, which spelt the end for the Feature Presentation. Shatter delivers a pair of PTSD powerbombs leaving Lewis senseless on the mat. It’s more like the Flattened Presentation after Shatter killed him. As Shatter celebrates, Mikal Judas’s music explodes and Bailey pisses in his pants. Judas unloads on Shatter and sends him flying to the floor with a clothesline. Judas turns his back and Iceberg clubs him from behind. Judas returns the favor with the Kick of Fear! Judas poses and Shatter nails him with the Anarchy title. Shatter and Iceberg stared own as they enter the ring, but Judas arises from the dead. Shatter and Iceberg retreat as reminds them he is eternal. This was a good segment, but was missing the appeal of three colossal beings colliding.
OVERALL: Anarchy has followed with good programs after several blockbuster angles over the summer. The UAS feud is the hottest thing going, but Iceberg/Shatter/Judas saga could prove to be very interesting to say the least. With Bentley adding another dimension to his character, the Rejects won’t be going away any time soon. Again, this was a good show with a few minor faults. Also, on a side note, the Regular Guys vs. Talent & Money match was not included on either episode of the 11/7 tapings. Anarchy without Talent & Money is like a breast without a nipple and that ain’t right.

DEBUT NWA WRESTLING SHOWCASE TV REPORT FROM DISH NETWORK’S COLOURS CHANNEL

NWA returns to television with NWA Wrestling Showcase, broadcasting on DISH channel 9407 COLOURS. To give a quick background on this channel, it’s basically a multicultural channel showcasing programs from and about the whole world.
This all new take on the NWA comes to you from the neon skyline of Las Vegas, Nevada. The show opens with the NWA Heavyweight Champion Adam Pearce. Pearce welcomes us to the NWA Wrestling Showcase and says that he could talk about all of the history of the NWA but we’re here for the future. No matter what you think of professional wrestling, the NWA has predicated greatness since day one. Pearce then puts himself over as champion and is obviously very proud of the NWA Heavyweight Title (which is the classic NWA title belt). He finalizes his introduction by welcoming the wrestling fan back to professional wrestling. Welcome home to the NWA.
We return with David Marquez and Rob “Con-Man” Conway at the Plaza Hotel and Casino, home of the new series. David turns it over to Rob, but Rob smirks asking for an introduction. David talks about Conway’s WWE career and all of his accomplishments, even his action figure! Marquez then recaps that Adam Pearce won the NWA Heavyweight Title through controversial means. Rob interrupts David saying that a win is a win and that winning the NWA Heavyweight Title is Rob’s ultimate goal as well.
Match Number One - From Houston, Texas: Scheduled for One Fall with a 30 Minute Time Limit - Hidaka vs. TJ Perkins
The announcers introduce both competitors as high flyers and expect a great match up. Collar and elbow tie up to start it off then Hidaka slips behind Perkins for a waistlock. Perkins sits out and grabs the ankle of Hidaka and takes him down quickly floating over clamping the leg down. He then goes for a chin lock but Hidaka is quick to get out of it and work Perkins into a hammerlock. Perkins flips forward out of the hammerlock but Hidaka puts him back on the mat with a wristlock. Again Perkins gets to his feet and rolls forward trying to get of the hold, throwing in a one handed cartwheel and reversing Hidaka into an armbar.
The announcers introduce Hidaka touting his time in New Japan, All Japan and Michinuko Pro including working with some of the greats such as Tiger Mask IV and Jushin Liger. They then introduce Perkins as a young up and comer being 23 years old and already having 9 years of pro wrestling experience. Perkins moves from the armbar into a hammerlock of his own and brings Hidaka to the mat. Hidaka returns to his feet and reverses Perkins’ hammerlock into a hammerlock of his own. Hidaka spins Perkins out of the hammerlock and takes him over with a fireman’s carry flipping on top for a quick pin attempt but can’t get Perkins’ shoulders down. He works over Perkins’ arm more with an armwringer then spinning Perkins into an interesting hold where he has Perkins’ arm hammerlocked, the other in an armbar and Perkins’ head forward clamped under Hidaka’s leg. Hidaka with an arm drag that he kips up after and stares down his opponent.
They circle the ring a few times before meeting in the middle for a knuckle lock test of strength. Perkins hits a quick kick to Hidaka’s side and does another cartwheel then trips Hidaka down to the mat. He flips over Hidaka and comes back across locking in a rear chin lock with Hidaka’s arm barred. Hidaka forces Perkins up and slides under him taking him down as Hidaka spins to the front of Perkins for a facelock. Perkins slips out and they move back to their feet with Perkins in control. Hidaka pushes Perkins off into the ropes and Perkins comes back with a shoulder knockdown. Hidaka then with a lay down and leap frog as Perkins runs the ropes. Hidaka gets up and tries to send Perkins out of the ring but Perkins catches himself between the top and middle ropes. Hidaka charges in and Perkins moves out of the way sending Hidaka to the floor. hdiaka quickly back in only to be sent out the other side, showing some frustration as he goes to the guard rail surrounding the ring. Hidaka catches Perkins gloating the in the ring and sends him into the ropes with Perkins coming back with a front body scissors into a roll up but releases the pin to turn Hidaka over into an inverted Boston crab then grabs his arms pulling him up into a pendulum type hold. TJ lets go of the hold getting both of Hidaka’s arm together and flipping him over for a pin attempt that gets a two count.
TJ in control of Hidaka takes him into the corner and nails him with a European uppercut. Follows it up with another. Hidaka then Irish whips Perkins into the other corner and tries to hit a clothesline but Perkins slips between the ropes goes to the top turnbuckle for a crossbody that’s blocked by Hidaka meeting Perkins in the air with his knees and letting Perkins then land on them in a gutbuster. Hidaka then works Perkins into the corner with stomps then sends him to the other corner and follows him in with a nice handspring into a leg lariat which puts Perkins on the mat. Hidaka slips up to the top turnbuckle above Perkins and comes down with a double foot stomp the the youngster’s midsection. Hidaka soaks in the croud as Perkins grabs his torso in pain. Perkins is picked up by Hidaka only to be sent back down with a punch. As Hidaka moves Perkins into a corner, Perkins kicks out at Hidaka for some separation. Then with a shoulder thrust to Hidaka’s gut but Hidaka recovers and nails Perkins with a kick to his own gut. Perkins is Irish whipped into the ropes and Hidaka catches him on the rebound in a sleeper hold that brings Perkins all the way down to the mat. The ref checks Perkins’ arm to see if he’s out once, twice, and Perkins keeps his arm up on the third check and fights up to his feet.
Hidaka sends Perkins into the ropes but Perkins does a somersault over Hidaka then snaps off a head scissor takedown. Hidaka back up and charges Perkins to be met with a drop toe hold. Perkins flips over Hidaka and blasts him with a drop kick. Hidaka reverses an Irish whip attempt but is caught with a back elbow as he follows Perkins to the corner. Perkins grabs Hidaka for a tornado DDT from the turnbuckle for a close two count. Perkins with a scoop slam to plant Hidaka in place for a top rope manuever but Perkins rolls through as Hidaka moves. As Perkins tries to get back on Hidaka, Hidaka drop toe holds him into the top rope but Perkins recovers in time to hit Hidaka with a drop kick. Hidaka back up and he hits a spinning heel kick. Hidaka motions for Perkins to get to his feet and he drills him with a super kick then spins over Perkins catching him in a reverse DDT for another close two count.
Hidaka shows his frustration again and picks Perkins up sending him into the ropes but Perkins blocks it and hits a hurricanrana and hooks the legs for a pin attempt. Hidaka kicks out at two. Perkins picks up Hidaka for a backbreaker then goes to the top rope. Perkins off the top with a frog splash but Hidaka gets his knees up. Hidaka then to his feet catches a leg of Perkins then throws him up into a sit out powerbomb for a two count. Both men are showing signs of fatigue as Hidaka tries for another super kick but it’s caught by Perkins. He spins Hidaka around to try for his own kick but Hidaka ducks and then hits a back mid-kick. Hidaka then attempts a Shiranue on Perkins but is flipped out of it instead trying to catch Perkins into a German suplex which Perkins reverses followed by another reverse by Hidaka then he sends Perkins into the corner. Perkins spring over Hidaka and rolls up Hidaka with a bridge for the one, two, three.
Your winner via pinfall: TJ Perkins!
After the match Perkins is attacked by Karl Anderson and Joey Ryan. Los Luchas dash to the ring to make the save, battling Anderson and Ryan into separate corners but they are blind-sided by Adam Pearce as we go to commercial.
We’re back with David Marquez and Rob Conway. David calls the attack by Anderson, Ryan, and Pearce unneccesary and Conway says he would agree if they weren’t “provoked” which draws a complaint from David. Conway is definately a heelish color announcer. Marquez then promotes the next match as a battle between the US and Mexico as a flag match will take place right there in Las Vegas.
Match Number Two: A Flag Match scheduled for One Fall with a 60 Minute Time Limit -”Real American Heroes - Karl Anderson and Joey Ryan vs. Los Luchas
The announcers explain that there’s a history between the two teams as the Real American Heroes stole a trophy from Los Luchas recently. Both of the members in the ring to start off the match play to the crowd a bit to get them pumped up. Ryan catches one of the Luchas with a cheap shot as he is getting the crowd riled up and works him over in the corner with punches. Irish whip on the Luchas member but he floats over and drop kicks Ryan into the corner. Ryan immediately calls for a time out which of course he’s not going to get. He tries to get another cheap shot but the Lucha ducks and follows up with some forearm shots. Anotehr Irish whip into the ropes but the Lucha springboards off the middle rope and comes over Ryan with an arm drag. He then tries for a monkey flip but Ryan blocks and nails him with a knife-edge chop. Ryan drags him into the corner and hits for chops. Into the other corner the Lucha goes but blocks the on coming Ryan with a boot and jumps up to the top turnbuckle for a jump head scissor takedown. Ryan scurries back into a corner afterwards not wanting anymore but catches himself in the cajones on the ring post. Never seen a guy do that to himself before.
The teams switch members even though I’m sure I didn’t see a tag but before Anderson on the other Lucha can start things off, Ryan wants a hug. Anderson and the other Lucha circle the ring before locking up in the center. Anderson powers the Lucha to the mat and gloats. The Lucha gets a follow up scoop slam but moves out of the way as Anderson comes in for a leg drop. Drop kick on Anderson. Lucha ducks a clothes line and comes back for a spinning head scissors then charges the corner where Anderson ends up and is flipped over and lands on the edge of the apron. Anderson thinks he got one over on his opponent but is caught with another big flying head scissors from the top turn buckle. Anderson’s taunted into running at the Lucha and is tossed over the top rope but holds on to skin the cat. The Lucha catches Anderson in his moment of pride over skinning the cat and clotheslines him to the outside. Then follows it up with a suicide dive but fakes out of it at the last second catching the top rope.
Ryan joins his partner on the floor and they both decide that this match isn’t worth it for them as they wave off Los Luchas and head for the back. The Real American Heroes are pelted with popcorn and cups but as soon as Los Luchas turn to get the flag to end the match, they dash back in and hit them with more cheap shots. Anderson and Ryan send each send a member of Los Luchas into the ropes only to have them both duck clotheslines and come in with a body scissors into an arm drag. Both Luchas then flip over Anderson and Ryan with a sunset flip but the Real American Heroes hold on to each other for leverage. Los Luchas get the last laugh however when they pull down the trunks of Ryan and Anderson as I think one of the announcers just kicked a cat on his headset. Anderson probably got too much of his… gear… pulled down. Real American Heroes wear thongs? Must take notes on that one.
Ryan is sent over the ropes but holds on to low bridge one of the Luchas as he is sent to the ropes by Anderson. Ryan then picks up the fallen Lucha and tosses him on to the guard rail. The other Lucha grabs the ankle of Anderson before he can get the American flag. Anderson in turn gives him stomps to the back. Ryan sends the Lucha he dropped into the guard rail back into the ring to be met with chops from Anderson. Anderson with a back elbow catching the Lucha off the ropes. The Lucha is then picked up and forced back into Real American Heroes’ corner for what I think is the first offical tag of the match. Anderson holds the Lucha in place with his boot on the throat for a choke as Ryan comes in and does the same. Ryan then taunts the other Lucha into the ring for a distraction so he can stomp the Lucha in the corner with Anderson helping with a choke. Ryan sends the Lucha in to the ropes and nails a beautiful high drop kick right to his head. Ryan pins him for a 2 count and pins him again after he kicks out for another 2. Goes for the pin a third time, hooking both legs and only gets a 2 as the Lucha kicks out with force. Phoenix Star (thank you announcers for finally making it clear which Lucha was which) tries to get up but is met with a clubbing blow to the back and is then back into the Heroes’ corner for another tag.
Anderson comes in and kicks Star in the gut thanks to Ryan. Anderson then hits a leg lariat on Star for a pin attempt that gets another 2 count. Star into the corner but he floats over and catches Anderson with a Briscoe like roll up for a 2 count. Anderson rolls towards his corner and Ryan comes in and dashes to kick Star in the head. Ryan the fakes the tag while the ref’s back is turned and sends Star out to Anderson on the floor who backs him into the guard rail.
Socres (the other Lucha and forgive me if I’m spelling that wrong) is livid and wants into the match but the ref is holding him back giving Anderson time to beat up Phoenix Star. Anderson then sends Star back into the ring for Ryan to continue the beat down. Star switches momentum spinning behind Ryan then coming back around to snap a head scissors off then he tries to make the tag. Anderson comes in and grabs Star’s foot but Star slips out and gets the hot tag to his partner. Socres comes in with a springboard clothesline on Anderson then a jumping knee on Ryan. Socres with a knucklelock on Ryan as he goes to the corner, has some trouble getting up the ropes but comes off the ropes to catch Anderson in a head scissors and Ryan in an arm drag combo. Socres and Star double team Ryan as they send him into the ropes and Socres lifts Ryan then Star hits him with a spear on the way down. Anderson rushes in to be met with a double leg sweep by both Luchas then Star grabs Anderson’s legs brings him up in a slingshot as Socres flips over Anderson from the top turnbuckle and brings him back down on Star’s knees with a neckbreaker.
Real American Heroes to the outside to catch their breath. Star hits them with a somersault plancha. Socres then follows up with his own somersault plancha. Star back in the ring and he goes for the flag but Anderson catches him in an electric chair. Anderson tries to throw Star into a waiting super kick from Ryan but Star lands on the mat first. Instead Anderson holds Star up for the super kick from Ryan. Ryan for the pin but it’s broken up by Socres but he’s given a AA style spinebuster by Anderson for his trouble. The Heroes go for the flag but get both get caught in a school boy pin attempt by the Luchas for a 2 count. The Heroes back in control after that. Double gorilla press from the Heroes to Los Luchas but they slip out and send Ryan and Anderson into each other then they hit double springboard sentons on the Heroes in the center of the ring.
Star then gets to the corner and hoists his flag but the ref is caught up with C. Edward Vanderpile. Adam Pearce makes a run in and yanks the Mexican flag from Star then levels both Los Luchas with it. He then puts Ryan on top of Star and scoots out the ring. The ref turns around and counts the three on Star.

Match Number Three: Scheduled for One Fall with a 30 Minute Time Limt - Ricky Vega vs. Cassidy O’Brien.
O’Brien attacks Vega before the bell but Vega fights back with a back elbow and a double chop. O’Brien reverses Vega into the corner and hits some chops to no effect. Vega then reverses O’Brien into the corner and hits his own chops that sends Cassidy reeling. Vega sends O’Brien into the other corner but as O’Brien is trying to float over, Vega catches his legs, spins around and yanks him down to the mat by one leg. Thumbs down from Vega as he hoists O’Brien up in a fireman’s carry down into a modified Samoan drop as O’Brien seems to come down chest first instead of back or side. The announcers call it the San Juan Slam. Vega scores the pinfall after that.

We’re back once again with David and Rob as David is taking in the sights of Las Vegas and Rob cuts him off still hung up about the tag team flag match. Conway wonders why the fans who were in the US were cheering for Los Luchas and David tries to answer but waves himself off into trying to say Conway was a member of La Resistance but Conway cut him off with a USA chant before he could.
Match Number Four: The Main Event scheduled for 1 Fall with a 30 Minute Time Limit - El Hijo Del Santo & Rey Misterio Sr. vs Blue Demon & Psychosis.
Both teams talk out strategy before getting the match started. Psychosis runs full steam towards Misterio but Misterio moves out of the way as Psychosis turns himself inside out after a failed front drop kick. A chop by Misterio and a quick series of moves between Psychosis and Misterio with Misterio getting a couple quick arm drags in the a power slam for a 2 count. Blue Demon comes in for a kick after the pin is broken up. Misterio Sr. with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker on Psychosis. Misterio taunts Blue Demon into the ring and blocks a blow and returns with a slap that sends Demon into the corner while Misterio tags in Santo. Santo rushes in on Blue Demon hitting a wheelbarrow then coming up and catching Psychosis with a head scissors and takes both men over. Under a double clothes line Santo goes and gets elevated over Demon only to drop kick Psychosis in the back that sends him out of the ring. Santo follows it up with another head scissors to Demon to send him out as well. Both Misterio and Santo in the ring as they hit the ropes to gather steam for a double suicide dive out of the ring into their opponents. They then go to commercial which is odd as it’s the first time they’ve done so during a match.
We return with Misterio and Santo taunting Demon and Psychosis from inside the ring. They go out to get Demon and Psychosis back into the ring but Santo gets a double head butt then Demon and Psychosis send Misterio hard into a corner and follow up with baseball slides to the outside grabbing his legs and pulling him split across the ring post. Demon and Del Santo get into it with Demon slamming Santo’s head into a table. Santo is pushed back into the ring where he gets a backbreaker from Blue Demon. Demon then straddles Santo’s legs on the middle rope and holds him out for Psychosis to deliver a flying leg drop from the top turnbuckle. Blue Demon then tries to unmask Santo and gets his mask laces undone before Demon kicks him in the head. Demon works over Santo trying to hold him back from making a tag but he does so anyway.
Demon hits Misterio in the corner as Psychosis hits Santo with a back elbow as he comes off the ropes. Misterio gets sent to a corner as Blue Demon whips Psychosis into him for a clothesline and follows up with a clothesline of his own. Psychosis for a pin on Misterio but lifts him off the mat at a one count. Psychosis then moves Misterio back into his own corner to tag Demon and they double team Misterio. Misterio gets to Santo for a tag but Santo is met almost immediately by a front drop kick from Psychosis. Demon and Psychosis each grab a leg of Santo and make a wish. Misterio tries to get in the ring but is caught by the ref and displays his frustration which allows Psychosis to snap the neck of Santo on the top rope and send him into the corner.
Santo tries to get to his corner again for a tag but this time Demon holds him back and gives him a kick to the thigh. Santo gives a second effort though and gets the tag to Misterio but the ref didn’t see it. Psychosis gets tagged in and wails away on Santo. Misterio gets in the ring but Psychosis whips him into an oncoming Santo from Blue Demon. Misterio off in the far corner as Santo is whipped towards him again but Misterio puts Santo up on the turnbuckle and hits Demon with a back elbow. Psychosis comes in and hits Misterio but Santo gets a head scissors on Psychosis (I think… bad camera work for that spot). Misterio spins Psychosis into a Full Nelson and drops down to the mat with him as Santo dives off the top turnbuckle for a forward senton and rolls through to the other side of the ring to suicide dive through the ropes at Blue Demon. Misterio up to the top rope and hits a nice crossbody on Psychosis to the outside. Another commercial break.
Action continues with Blue Demon getting sent in the ropes and Santo hitting him with a back drop. Santo to the top and hits a diving headbutt on a standing Blue Demon. Santo kicks Demon then puts him in the camel clutch. Demon gets out of it and shoves Santo into the ref then hits Santo with a low blow kick. Demon then covers Santo for the three count.
Your winners via pinfall: Blue Demon & Psychosis.
David and Rob then wrap up the show with a recount and preview next weeks show which will have the Young Bucks taking on Cobra II and Black Tiger IV while Bryan Danielson makes his NWA debut and NWA Champion Adam Pearce versus Sean Waltman. David and Rob thank the fans for watching the first episode.
Thoughts on the show:
• Not all the matches took place in Las Vegas so the theme of the show is a little misleading. The in between match segments were taped there and at least one match in Las Vegas, but with the way it’s shot it really could have been anywhere and you wouldn’t have known.
• The commentators were fine except for a few spots in the tag team flag match where I thought that Don West’s typical announcing voice was a whisper compared to these guys. I’m sorry I didn’t name them but I couldn’t catch their names outside of Todd and Chris and the show wasn’t captioned. I do think the commentators mentioned quite a bit about the “competition” by mentioning Conway’s history and Rey Misterio Sr.’s nephew Rey Misterio Jr. and Psychosis but to establish these performers for their show I guess it had to be done. Sometimes they were great in explaining the talent but like I said in the tag team flag match, they didn’t clearly explain which Lucha was which until about half way through the match.
• The production quality for the matches is right above Ring of Honor and right below TNA. Not bad honestly. They were quick between matches but Marquez and Conway put over the matches and what they mean pretty well. Everything about the show screamed “old school” from the production to the matches themselves. Welcome home to professional wrestling indeed.
• But… two matches ended with run ins. One match was a squash. And the main event had a ref bump and came to an end so quickly after a commercial I was actually hit the end of the commercial and hit skip forward once and missed the finish. That’s pretty fast. The actual wrestling was great but the booking is a bit weird as we’re not even guaranteed continuation or consequence of the run ins.

NWA WRESTLING SHOWCASE 2nd review…….January 16, 2008
The debut of NWA Wrestling Showcase on Dish Network’s Colours TV took place tonight. I won’t lay down a verdict yet, as it appears this show was thrown together featuring older matches taped at different locations, but I enjoyed it more than any WWE or TNA show I have seen. Yes, it was that good.
Sure, the production quality is nowhere in the same ball park, but the quality of the product being shown was significantly more interesting than anything the big boys have been putting out. It has the look and feel of old school wrestling television programs, done from venues larger than a studio, but smaller than a basketball arena.
Current NWA World Heavyweight Champion Adam Pearce opened the show by declaring you were watching the best pro wrestling has to offer. He boasted of its long history.
After a short commercial break, David Marquez and Rob Conway greeted viewers, with Las Vegas’ Plaza Hotel and Casino, along with show girls, as the back drop. They took Pearce’s lead on building up the NWA, going so far as to point out Lou Thesz and Frank Gotch. Well, they got the Thesz part right, and who can fault them for selling Gotch as an NWA champion, when most, if not all of us grew up thinking that before we knew better.
The opening match, taped somewhere in Houston, was pretty solid: T.J. Perkins versus Ikuto Hidaka. The match was enthralling, with both grapplers being obviously skilled, and working well together. There were a lot of attempts at submission holds and a ton of near pinfalls.
Perkins wound up getting the win in a match that went about ten minutes. After the bell, the reigning NWA World Tag Team Champion Real American Heroes (Joey Ryan & Karl Anderson) came out and attacked Perkins, but Pearce came out of nowhere to make a save. Some others got involved, but it was so fast I didn’t catch their names. What?! I don’t know this promotion. I’m learning it, too. Give me some slack.
After the break, Marquez and Conway were talking about the match. Marquez ripped the Heroes for their actions, but Conway, clad in a suit and sunglasses, vehemently claimed they were provoked.
Next up was a match that had been taped at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, featuring the Heroes versus Los Luchas (Phoenix Star & Zokre). This was a flag match, and I believe is the same one that took place a little more than a year ago that appeared on a DVD put out by ROH. Then again, these guys have been in a feud, so it could have been a different flag match. What?! They don’t give us dates on this stuff.
I’m not too into high flying lucha style wrestling, but the Luchas were impressive. The Heroes have a very good old school tag team thing going. While the ref was distracted, one of the Luchas managed to get to his flag first, but Anderson came up behind him and attacked him, getting the advantage in time for the ref to give them the win.
Following a break, Marquez was shown interviewing legendary Mid-Atlantic announcer Bob Caudle.
In another Vegas bout, Ricky Vega won in a quick squash over Cassidy O’Brien. Despite O’Briens’s size, or maybe because of it, he attacked Vega before the bell. That was pretty much the only offense he managed in the two minutes he was in the ring.
There was another break, but when they returned, Marquez and Conway were debating why fans in Vegas were cheering for the “Mexicans” in the match with the “Americans”.
In a match that was interrupted twice for commercials, Psichosis & Blue Demon, Jr., came out on top against El Hijo Del Santo & Rey Mysterio, Sr. I was expecting an acrobatics demonstration, but surprisingly, this bout held my interest the whole time. I just hate when a match is interrupted for commercials more than once. Once is annoying, but twice?! Santo’s mask was unlaced by the Demon at one point; so much so that it appeared it was just going to fly off of his head as the action was taking place.
In closing the show, Marquez and Conway were once again joined by show girls. They announced that Bryan Danielson will be on next week’s show. We will also see Pearce defend the title against Sean Waltman.
It was announced on the NWA website that fans can attend tapings on February 10, March 8 and 22, and April 12 and 19. I don’t know if any are in the can, or if they are using old footage as a way to build interest before taping new matches, but it appears to be the case.
My recommendation is to check this out if you grew up on territorial wrestling. It is much better than what the larger companies who have network deals are showing … so far. I will hold off on a permanent verdict until we start seeing continuity in talent and more current matches.

Around 200 people filled the Great Skate Plex as the
host of the GCW Action TV Show, Taylor McKnight,
kicked off the show. It would turn out that McKnight
would do the ring announcing for the first three
matches, and Rob Russo did the ring annoucing for the
last three matches.
Attention was paid to the big screen where J-Rod was
shown congradulating McKnight for the job he did on
the tv show. Out comes Quentin Michaels and his
bodyguard Zero Tolerance. Michaels badmouths J-Rod and
then slapped him. But before J-Rod could retaliate,
Zero got between him and Michaels.
Match #1
GCW Tag Team Title Match
Referee Jeff McGowan
Hot Like Lava w/Quentin Michaels retains the titles
against Sonny Siaki and Scotty Beach. The end came
when Shaun Banks came into the ring illegally, McGowan
was busy getting Beach out of the ring, and nailed
Siaki with a roundhouse. Cru Jones then crawled on
Siaki and made the cover for the win.
McKnight announced that Commissioner Scrappy McGowan
told J-Rod that if he touches Quentin Michaels then he
will pay the price.

Zero Tolerance w/Quentin Michaels defeats “That 80’s
Guy” John Bogie after hitting a fall forward
powerbomb.

Orion Bishop w/Wicked Nemesis defeats Bull Buchanan by
DQ. The DQ came when Wicked tossed his cane into the
ring for Bishop to use while McGowan was distracted
fixing a turnbuckle that Wicked was messing with. Bull
caught the cane though and clocked Bishop with it,
just in time for McGowan to turn around and catch him
using it.

Referee Randy Ray
Randall Johnson defeats Tex Monroe after doing a
rollup and then using the ropes for leverage. After
the match, Johnson took the mic and claimed about
being the best and bragged about his victories of
Monroe and J-Rod, who he beat last week. Out comes
J-Rod, who reminded Johnson that Johnson cheated to
win his matches. He also reminded Randall that he beat
Randall with the TKO a few weeks back. After a brief
brawl, J-Rod challenged Johnson to a match for next
week.
Match #5
Referee Randy Ray
The Hooligans defeat DeathRow and AJ Steele w/The
Intern after Devon Cutter rolled AJ up in the school
boy for the victory. The end came when DeathRow and
AJ, who weren’t working together at all, began to
argue because AJ refused to tag in DeathRow. The
Intern entered the ring and tried to play peacemaker.
Mason Cutter then hits AJ in the back with a
springboard dropkick which caused AJ to crash into the
Intern who crashed into DeathRow knocking him out of
the ring.

GCW Heavyweight Title Match
Referee Jeff McGowan
Johnny Swinger (c) w/Quentin Michaels and Zero
Tolerance defeats David Young thanks to a sitdown
powerbomb by Zero Tolerance. Before the match began,
Swinger was trying to get out of defending the title
by saying that Young needs to earn a title match. He
told Young that if Young beats him in a non title
match tonight, then they can sit down and talk about a
title match for next week. Young calls Swinger a
chicken and after getting the crowd to call Swinger a
chicken, Swinger said that he will defend the belt.
The end came for Young when he went to hit an enzuguri
and Swinger ducked and it knocked McGowan out. Young
nailed Swinger with the spinebuster and made the
cover, but there was no three count with the referee
out. Zero Tolerance then entered the ring and
powerbombed Young. He then pulled Swinger on top of
Young with Michaels revived McGowan.
Swinger, Tolerance, and Michaels started to beatdown
Young when Bull Buchanan ran down to make the save.
Swinger gets the mic and says that he’s done with Bull
and Young, but Bull told Swinger that he’s not done
with Swinger. Buchanan and Young then challenged
Swinger and Zero Tolerance for a match next week and
it was accepted.

NWA Wisconsin Heavyweight Title Match
Mason Quinn -vs- Douglas “Do-Right” Peterson
Both men make their way to the ring for DDR’s open
challenge. Mason Quinn is clearly the bigger man, and
I don’t think anyone who saw these two men thought DDR
had a chance. The crowd tells Quinn to put the title
on the line, and does. He’s a fighting champ.
Handshake to start the match. From here, a lot of the
details are lost, but I remember that Mason started
the match off clearly in control, working some great
technical wrestling never letting go of DDR’s left
arm. Normally, this qualifies for a “Break His Arm”
chant, but I kinda like DDR, he’s plucky (pluck•y
[pluhk-ee] –adjective, pluck•i•er, pluck•i•est. having
or showing pluck or courage; brave: The drowning
swimmer was rescued by a plucky schoolboy.) I remember
DDR broke things up and got a little momentum with a
jawbreaker, but it didn’t last, he was clearly
overpowered in this match. Quinn kept putting DDR
down, and DDR just kept getting up and asking for
more. Finally, Quinn finishes him off with an enormous
suplex for the pin. I’m pretty sure it’s an Exploder
Suplex.
Winner and *STILL* NWA Wisconsin Heavyweight Champion:
Mason Quinn
”Snake Eyez” Jason Riley -vs- Tony Mega w/ Weezel (or
Jamie K, or Jamie the Weasel, can’t remember what he’s
using right now)
And before I go into this, I couldn’t find a picture,
deal with it. Mega comes out first, accompanied by
Weasel. A good choice to give Mega a mouthpiece, even
if it is Weasel, as, like I said, Mega has the
charisma of a brick. Jason Riley comes out next, and
gets a good pop as he is from Manitowoc, Wisconsin. A
good back and forth match, each man really getting a
chance to beat on the other. Mega benefited from
Weasel being there to be a general pain in the ass to
Riley and the referee, allowing him to turn the tide
in the match. Riley got Mega down for the three count,
but Weasel distracts the referee. Riley confronts
Weasel about it, and punches Weasel in the lower
stomach region and drags him into the ring. He gets
Weasel in the corner, and Mega comes up and low blows
him. Mega then drags him to the corner and hits one
moonsault with his arm, then a second one the standard
way to get the pin.
Winner: Tony Mega
Gut Check Match:
Markus Maximus -vs- Jerry Stylez
Definitely gets match of the night in my book. The
competitors were all over, and nothing was safe, not
tables, chairs, my Erase-A-Board. Starting out in the
ring, this match did not take long to go to the
outside. Markus was caught by a jumping Stylez off the
volleyball judge’s ladder thing, and Jerry literally
buried Markus in chairs, and then beat him with
another one, which still didn’t keep Markus down.
Jerry got locked in a double arm bar (as an amateur
wrestler would use) and walked him past the fans, and
it was Time For Chops (copyright circa 2000 by Matt
Byron.) I’m definitely claiming I had the best chop in
the line… definitely. And the chop line may have
happened before the chair thing, I’m not sure off
hand. I know after that there was a point that Jerry
Stylez was put through a table, though I did not see
most of what happened due to that ring in the way… who
put that there? And again, I may have this in the
wrong order, and this time I’m pretty sure, but Jerry
Stylez had a garbage can over his head, Markus slammed
it into the ring post, then beat it with a chair,
bloodying Stylez. In the end, it was Markus pulling
off the win, making sure he didn’t have to go back to
training for another year.
Winner: Markus Maximus
At some point prior to this, between one of the
matches, Ben Johnson and Tan Anne came out. Kody Rice
interrupted him from the crowd and demanded a match,
using my Erase-A-Board to make sure The Good Rev
understood, which Kody Rice owes me a dollar for. Rev
booked him against “Diamond” Dave Demone. The Foreign
Franchise (what makes them foreign?) comes out wanting
to know who they are facing other than Sam Hayne and
Mystique. Colucci asks for The Rev. Rev seen later in
ring gear, you know, the “God Rules” shirt. I don’t
remember Ben ever saying he would do it though, just
that he’d have someone. I put this here, because this
was intermission.
“Diamond” Dave Demone -vs- Kody Rice
Dave Demone comes out, crowd chanting “Who are you?”
DDD gets the mic, and lets us all know “blah, blah
blah, blah blah blah, I’m from New York.” Kody Rice
comes out, getting a nice pop. I don’t remember too
much about this one, other than it was a very good
match, nothing overly spectacular, nothing really bad.
Kody gets tons of cheers for the
running-jumping-spinning ass-to-the-face move. Kody
picks up the win and Ben Johnson brings Kody’s bags
out and tosses them in the ring for Kody and tells him
to leave. Much disappointment from the crowd.

#1 Contender’s Match to the ACW Tag Team Championship
The Dream Police (“Smokin’” Don Gotti & “Cookie
Cutter” Chris Gambino) -vs- “Simply Amazing” Justin
Dredd & Douglas “Do-Right” Peterson
Match starts with a handshake between the teams,
because, well, good guys show sportsmanship. Great
stuff between the teams, getting backed into the
corner, and rather than chop on the way out, HIGH
FIVES! The Dream Police always entertain, as they are
charismatic and always seem to be having fun. Great
stuff with the arm wrenching thing, Dredd rolling out
of CCCG’s arm wrench and applying his own. CCCG makes
like he’s going to do the same, then sneezes in
Dredd’s face. Overall, lots of funny bits in the
match, and in the end, it was The Dream Police getting
the win over Dredd and DDR.
Winners: The Dream Police (Smokin’” Don Gotti &
“Cookie Cutter” Chris Gambino)
The Foreign Franchise (“Cadillac” Nick Colucci, Tejas
& Thomas Walton III) -vs- Sam Hayne, Mystique & Shane
Hills
So we start with the Foreign Franchise coming out and
doing their thing on the mic. Then we get The Good
Reverend coming out. Finally, Sam Hayne and Mystique,
complete with fireballs. Just before the match starts,
The Good Rev jumps off the apron and says he’s not
doing this. He then tells Eric Heroux to play
someone’s music, and “Black Betty” by Spiderbait hits.
Johnson says that he’s not here, and Heroux just
shrugs. From the back comes the returning Shane Hills
to take the Good Rev’s place. This was a good back and
forth match, and I don’t want to go into details, but
TW3 did possible the STUPIDEST thing in a tag match
EVER. Backed into the corner by Mystique, he fights
back. Then, with Sam Hayne and Shane Hills IN THE SAME
CORNER, he attempts to go to the top rope. Needless to
say, it didn’t go well. In the end, Mystique gets the
pin on TW3 for her team.

In the Golden Ticket Battle Royal, where the winner
will recieve a shot at every title in NWA East
throughout 2008,the last two men in the ring, James
Ross and Patrick Hayes, eliminated each other. A match
was made for later in the night to determine who would
get the Golden Ticket.
NWA East Heavyweight Title Scottie Gash defeated Kid
Cupid to retain his title.
The Franchise Players defeated The Straight Jacket
Mafia to retain the NWA East Tag Team Titles. Before
the match, The Franchise Players tried to get out of
the title defense by beating up two men dressed like
the Straight Jacket Mafia.
Dash Bennett & Stacy Hunter defeated All Business

Scottie Gash attacked both men.
Scottie Gash retained the NWA East Heavyweight title
over Chris Taylor.
Taylor wrestled despite recieving a concussion during
the battle royal earlier in the night.
“Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce defeated “Iron City Harcore”
Sterling James Keenan to retain the NWA World’s
Heavyweight Title.
Both men had competed the prior day (Pearce at the NWA
Showcase taping and SJK at FNW wrestling where he
suffered a broken nose) but both champion and
challenger gave everything they had. SJK at one point
hit his MK Ultra finisher and had the champion pinned
for over a three count. However, while setting up the
move, the referee was knocked out. Pearce managed to
recover and get the win

Larkin O’Shea and Dash Venture came out, complaining
about losing their shot at the NWA Pacific Northwest
tag team championship due to Memphis being unable to
compete. Mike Santiago, one-half of the Washington
State tag team champions, interrupted their complaint,
saying they can have a shot at the Washington belts
tonight if they will just shut up.
“Brilliant” Billy Suede defeated Rick The Weapon X
after Sliced Bread #2
Full Throttle (Aaron Scott & Brandon Marino) defeated
Christopher Ryseck and MR2 (substituting for
“Gorgeous” Michelle Starr)
Veronika Vice pinned Penni Lane to retain the
SuperGirls championship after countering Penni’s
Oklahoma Roll
Mike Santiago and Kazukai defeated Dash Venture &
Larkin O’Shea to retain the Washington State tag team
championship when Santiago pinned Venture after
Kazukai flattened Venture with a lariat
Kyle O’Reilly defeated “Tornado” Tony Kozina by
countering a shinbreaker by Kozina into a sunset flip.
O’Reilly fought through a possible blown knee early in
the match, as well as Kozina’s attack on the leg for
the remainder of the match. After the contest, Kozina
shook Kyle’s hand, challenging him to wrestle and beat
him again.
Aaron Bolo pinned El Phantasmo after the Seoul Crusher
to retain the Washington State heavyweight
championship.

The NWA World Heavyweight Title will be defended in
Pittsburgh for the first time in over 6 years as the
current champion “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce defends his
title against “Iron City Hardcore” Sterling James
Keenan at the NWA East/Pro Wrestling eXpress (NWA
East/PWX) event “Genesis”. This event will be held
this Saturday January 19, 2008 at the Jacob Woll
Pavilion at Sycamore Dr. in Renzihausen Park in
McKeesport, PA.
The NWA World Heavyweight title, the famous “Ten
Pounds of Gold”, is one of the oldest titles in the
world of professional wrestling, with a lineage
stretching over 50 years. The title was held by
legends such a Harley Race, Ric Flair, Ricky “The
Dragon” Steamboat and many others.
The current champion, Adam Pearce, won the title in
September after going through a brutal tournament to
crown a new champion. Pearce’s methods for
winning the title may have caused controversy but no
one can deny the he’s been a fighting champion.
However, the champion has had a number of close calls
in his recent title defense and his next challenger is
one of the fastest rising stars in pro wrestling and
could be his most dangerous foe yet;
Sterling James Keenan. Keenan has recently returned to
NWA East but his resume has grown immensely since he
left. He currently holds heavyweight titles in both
the United States and England and can claim
victories over many of the top superstars in the world
today. These two champions will finally clash this
Saturday with the richest prize in the game at stake.
In addition, all four NWA East titles will be on the
line at “Genesis”.
