National Wrestling Superstars: Superfly & Sampson Victorious!
NWS invades NJ Fall Family Festival!
National Wrestling Superstars Results from Edison, NJ 9/8 with Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka, Short Sleeve Sampson, The Equalizer & More
For those individuals on the Internet Sheets who call National Wrestling Superstars a “carny” promotion… NWS proudly lived up to that monniker Saturday September 8th with two free shows right in the middle of the annual Edison, NJ Fall Family Festival. Both shows had huge crowds surrounding the ring as the stars of TV and NWS put on two hot shows. (Conspicuous by his absence was Ray Trager who must have decided to go to a JAPW show. Ray was missed and NWS management hopes to see him at the Manville and Brick shows.)
In the afternoon show, with a crowd of over 300 surrounding the ring:
WWE midget star Short Sleeve Sampson defeated J.D. Smooth (w/ former ECW brawler The Equalizer).
Smooth & Equalizer made fun of their vertically-chellenged opponent, but it was Sampson who had the last laugh and outlasted Smooth & Equalizer’s double-teaming efforts and hit his patented “Inch Worm” finisher on Smooth and scored the 1-2-3 pinfall. The Equalizer tried to attack Sampson after the match, but was bulldogged onto a chair by Sampson.
Mikey Pacifica won a non-title three-way-dance against Nicky Oceans & Corvis Fear.
Corvis Fear made his return to NWS action after a summer hiatus and was confused as to how to deal with his former tag-team partner Nicky Oceans. Mikey took advantage of that confusion throughout the match, and eventually hit a back-cracker on Corvis and scored the 1-2-3 pin.
WWE legend Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka won by disqualification over former ECW brawler The Equalizer (w/ J.D. Smooth) after outside interference from Smooth.
Despite constant double-teaming from Equalizer and Smooth, the WWE legend was able to hold his own (especially when Equalizer made the mistake of trying to weaken Snuka with head-butts), and was on the verge of leaping to a Superfly Splash when J.D. Smooth jumped on the ring apron and attacked him, causing the disqualification. The double-team attack continued until Short Sleeve Sampson ran in from the locker room to drive Smooth & Equalizer out of the ring. Smooth & Equalizer challenged Snuka & Sampson to a tag-team match, and Commissioner Gino Moore signed it for the main event of the evening show.
After the fans had a couple of hours to enjoy the Festival, an even larger crowd of close to 500 returned for the evening show:
Before the show, NWS’ own Fighting Elvis came out to sing the National Anthem. His rendition was interrupted after only one verse by J.D. Smooth & The Equalizer as they attacked & laid out Elvis, claiming they would destroy the legend Snuka just like they did this one.
Mikey Pacifica & Slayer defeated Nicky Oceans & Indian Warrior Draven.
This match was all over the ring, and outside as well, with Slayer catching Draven in a DDT for the pinfall victory. After the match, Oceans sounded off on Draven for losing and tried to attack him, but the larger Draven leveled Oceans instead and left the ring to the cheers of the crowd.
Wasted Youth defeated Junior Johnson.
This was a battle of two rising stars in NWS. After trading holds for several minutes, Wasted Youth hit a backwards piledriver on Johnson and pinned him 1-2-3.
WWE legend Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka & WWE midgets star Short Sleeve Sampson defeated J.D. Smooth & former ECW brawler The Equalizer.
This highly-anticipated main event was a battle all over the place. Sampson’s tenacity was not enough to overcome the double-teaming efforts of Equalizer and Smooth, and it looked like the mini star was going to suffer a big defeat. But after Smooth missed a top-rope splash, Sampson was able to tag in Snuka who cleaned house, then climbed up the ropes to the cheers of the crowd and hit a Superfly Splash on Smooth. Snuka then stood aside and allowed Sampson to do his own splash from the top rope on Smooth, and pin him 1-2-3 to give his team the victory and send the crowd home happy.
NWS returns to action on Friday night October 5th at the Manville, NJ VFW Hall, and Saturday night October 6th at the always-sold-out Brick, NJ Elks Lodge. For more information visit NWS on the Web at www.nwswrestling.com.
